I've been trying to play through single player on 1.3.   The patch has definatly affected it some.  Mission On Thin Ice , where we have to escort the recycler across the ice fields is near impossible for me to get started on.  Almost as soon as I have my recyler setup ( after one scavenger has time to gather 52 scrap from a pool),  I am hit by 7-8 scion units.  Postgame report shows them as having collected and spent almost 732 scrap already.  And usually they manage to destroy the transport thus ending the mission.

love the patch though, and my units dont mumble at me any more

BZZERKER

Heh heh, wait until you get to the Rend missions

MowerMan

Yes, single player is much harder with the 1.3 patch...  Did you try it set on "easy" (I think I remember a setting somewhere).

I notice that in mission three, one of the Scion transports do not pick up one of the "hardware" containers.  It thinks it has it, so it probably does not affect the "lose mission" condition of the Scions getting the hardware. Just a visual I guess...  At worse, you would just get a never ending mission if you let the transports get away with only one "hardware".

PhoeniX-FlamE

put it on easy / medium get the laser from the warehouse there and shot the containers

problem soloved

Xerik

well, i did at least establish a foothold finally,  on medium diff.
I had to deploy my turret near the mountain so the ai would come around the corner targeting something else and get shot constantly.  That combined with almost all of my tank's ammo managed to stop the main 10+ ship assault somehow.  Then it was *very* easy to grab enough scrap to start constructing gun turrets.

and i think im very scared of some of those rend missions if i remember them right.  The ai was fairly hard when it lacked these skills.,

MowerMan

Well the win condition is that the "hardware" survive and stay in the hands of the ISDF.  I think if the haulers get away, it will trigger the "lose game" condition.

PhoeniX-FlamE

if u kill it it the hauelrs cant get away..
whats trigger the lose is either if ur power i think dies or one of the haulers get to some point with the container..

the win condition is kill the haulers hmmm if i remember right around 4 times... and base assult 3 times...
if u kill the containers the haulers will just stop where they spawn...
after u sure no base assult coming go kill em and go back to defend base...
then after no base assult go kill the haulers again.. they will not move and will always be same place... and the laser does hell of alot dmg to them...
there is also an abonden tank u can get into..

MowerMan

He he he...  I know the mission well.  I've played it around 60~70 times.  You're not supposed to win if the containers get destroyed.  That are part of the continuing storyline.

The win conditions is not the problem (although it is if you can destroy the "hardware"and win).  I was just pointing out that the haulers are supposed to pick-up both "hardware", but only one "hardware" is picked up.

The "lose" condition is if the powerplant gets destroyed, the "hardware" gets destroyed, or the "hardware" is retrieved by the Scions (and of course if you die).

Lizard

Mower dude what the hell are you doing even letting the haulers get as far as the hardware in the first place ?

Btw I noticed that the annoying white cube is finally gone from this mission , hurrah for 1.3 . :D

technoid

Yeah, I think that was some kind of root object. First time I saw that white box those many years ago, I tried to pick it up and/or shoot it, hehe.  It was unmarked though.  Must've been left there by some Scion terrorist.

As for this mission, I also noticed how a little bit more challenging it was, but I played it the way it was meant to, which it gives it the most FUN factor.

Tugs still have troubles on some objects where the collision boundry of the object is extended too far past the object itself.  At least, that's what it looks like.  Those 'power crystal' things are like that.

One more little thing to fix...

MowerMan

Well it may only be a "cosmetic" thing, and I'm not yet sure if it's a one time thing.

He he he good catch Lizard!   I was playing on the laptop for the first time, and I didn't have my USB joystick yet (Picked up a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro yesterday, and it's a real nice stick).  Anyway, I couldn't pilot very well at all with the laptop keyboard at all!  I even lost my Sabre and had to finish the mission in my original scout.  Pretty bad...

I did Fortress IA this morning and it went much better (the laptop stutters a bit with a lot of objects on screen though).
