can not open the console

just to clear things up. I am using ctrl & ` ( tilde key ). it use to work but not now.

Tilde is the ~ key. The ` key (single apostrophe slanted downward) is called the 'Grave' key, from the french accent.

BZ2 looks for control & the DirectInput 'Grave' key. NOT Control-~. (Cluetime: on US keyboards, to type ~, the shift key is involved. That's never been part of the process). On US keyboards, 'Grave' and ~ are on the same key. However, as I posted earlier this thread, on UK keyboards (or ones w/ UK keymappings), you must use Control and the key marked '` ¬'  (that's grave and the "not" symbol).

I don't  care what you want to call it, like I posted before I know what keys to use. I've opened & closed the console many times. since installing pb3 I can't open or close the console. all I want to know is how to fix the problem.

Could someone on the 1.3 beta team look up my old post on what sounds like the same kind of problem I had with my new computer. The issues I had was with a conflict with a USB remote device and the keyboard drivers. The drivers for the remote device would override the keyboard for some programs (like BZ2).

This may help mag.

My system:

Sony Vaio
Windows XP Media Edition
ATI (all-in-one kind of card) when the problem started with remote control for Media Edition stuff , since upgraded. never use the remote anyway.
Sound Blaster Gamer
US keyboard

You may want to unplug any USB devices other the mouse and keyboard and re-bot. See if that helps. If not, at least we tried.

RD, you were close. I got it working by unplugging the infrared remote for my PC remote for the Media Center remote control. After a reboot my keyboard now works in game (so far). So I'll have to see if just unplugging the infrared works everytime.

Thanks for the link. I have a wired keyboard and mouse but used the remote for TV viewing. I'll play around more but very happy to have my whole keyboard back for BZ2.
