Yeah, but BZ2 doesn't run natively on *nix, does it?

BZ2 versions 1.2 and 1.3 are playable on linux, but with a few bugs
1.2 - Reduced framerate; client timeouts when hosting games
1.3 - No sound; Fog on terrain is rendered as completely black when anisotropic filtering is enabled or higher than 4x mipmaps are enabled in graphics options

Creating a launcher for BZ2 requires you to create a shell script, but its not hard to do at all.

Hopefully these will be fixed soon by the Wine developers. I'm on the road right now, and I havent been able to test to see whether Wine releases from the past 3 weeks fix any of the bugs.

(note to self: run updates/maintainance on home linux machine through SSH)

How can a client host a game? (or was that a misquote?)

And everyone knows BZ2 works best with beer.
What box???

Spawn

Cheap beer doesn't come in a box.

TheJamsh

I mean to say, that when hosting strats/MPI, your clients (AKA the other players) will sometimes lag out and be unable to rejoin.

Meh?  Howso?  Have you even looked at production hardware?  My first job (admittedly a while ago now) was a pure digital recording studio, very high end hardware (heck the sound cards had ten distinct and can be simultaneously used inputs) and so forth, none of which would work on a Mac.  I doubt the situation has changed, sure there may be software, but without the hardware support you are not going to be doing high-end audio work. :P

Now video on the other hand, plenty of support there (heck, Mac standardized the main video interface, Firewire).

well its not jsut that... but how many viruses can hit a windows based OS but not a MAC?

i dunno if people know what i mean, but MAC's use hardware inturrupts, and windows uses polling. so a virus in windows gets a chance to run everytime windows goes around everything.

just the real problem is that EVERYTHING is made for windows OS's. i guess they are the most user-friendly

The heck are you talking about with interrupts and polling...
