Does anyone know how to create bz2 unit icons?

For the most part, I know how to do it, my main problem is getting the coloring right.  Anyone know what light colors were used when creating the icon renders?

bigbadbogie

just go into one of the original icons and eyedrop the colour
Others would merely say it was good humour.

As far as I can tell, I can't setup the lighting in 3Dex to match the stock icons.

I hope I am wrong since that is all I have for editing them.

I take them in blue from 3DE or DE and then use MAX to change it to whatever I want.

much better idea

i know we hate this program but... open it in threed with all the textures taken off. now get a side-on view of it perhaps, and take a screenshot.

save that screenshot in windows paint as a 24-bit bitmap (i think thats the one). the black background is completely black around the model which is useful because you dont have to cut it out

open the file in XnView and save it as a .tga

edit the file with GIMP, go to layer>transparency>colour to alpha and select black.

the alpha channel should now be added in.

save the file (under SAVE AS only NOT SAVE or it will add RLE compression which BZ2 doesnt support and youll get an AV) as icon_*v****.tga

there you go! i believe you can add a blue tint to the image in gimp as well.

I find that if I don't have a signature, some people disregard the last couple of lines of a long post.

IQ's have really dropped around here just recently, must be something in the water.

In the state where the trial period of 3DE has ended, you can still view models.

Busted.
fight till death our forums -> http://www.forums.bzfiend.com/index.php?

Why?  The trials are free, and a couple of them don't break completely when their trial period is up.  And most of them are in the same place, if you know where it is.
