It uses the same functions as the C++ version, no difference, so you can use that.  The entire scriptor thing you just put into BZ2, nothing really there for you except to take a look at what is inside the scripts directory, which is also where you put your own scripts if you wish (or in addon, or where-ever).  I included a couple example scripts (*.py files) that serve to show off the special features the C++ version does not have (like being able to pause a running script and so forth).  The scripts can be made in any standard text editor, just like C++, and there are a few Python IDE's out there (just like C++); I generally use SPE.  I never really continued working on it (mostly documentation, it is fully functional at this point, I think I have a slightly newer one on my computer that added some more commands that came out later, but technically you can add those through the script anyway, if I get some time soon though I can try to build the latest version and release it) due to lack of interest.  I did always intend to add a few backend features too (things you would not see nor use, but would help the overall system) and would not be hard to add, just never got around to it since no one used it.

But yea, no exe file, it is not that complicated, you just make little script files in whatever text editor you want to use (as stated, I prefer the Python IDE SPE).  As I have stated before, catch me on an IM and I can walk you through anything on it.

First,

Start with getting a book on Programming (preferably in the language that you want to learn. :P)

I personally, like to start with the Dummies collection as it gives a simplistic look at the language then I go to the more indepth (for programmer) style books.

Plenty of Python tutorials and such.  Python has had a growing surge in many schools due to its ease of learning, so there is no lack of knowledge for it out there. :)

Last I checked OM's scriptor uses a single DLL that interprets your .py mission scripts.
