Battlezone 2 having very low framerates or lagging

They are all set as low as they can go.  I don't have the Ti200 anymore unfortunately.
Paging file is 3gb.

I'll try going back to an older driver(84.something I think) tonight or tommorow, but worried it will affect other games.

Is it normal to have to alienate newer games to be able to play an older one if it turns out to be the driver?

Under my nvidia control panel I also have alot of options available.
Anisotopic filtering
antialiasing - gamma correction
AA - Setting
AA - Transparency
Conformant Texture Clamp
Extension Limit
Force mipmaps
Multidisplay/mixed GPU acceleration
Stereo - Display mode
Texture filtering - anisotropic mip filter optimization
Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample optimization
Texture filtering - Negative LoD bias
Texture filtering - Quality
Texture filtering - trilinear optimization
Triple buffering
Vertical Sync

Leave those application controlled or off?  or should I set them differently.

Red Devil

Set the BIOS video aperture as high as it will go, which is probably 256 or 512.  Lower the settings for everything else, one at a time, until things improve.

Someone else mentioned drivers, and that's been the case for me.  With the latest Invidia drivers BZ2 chugs to a complete halt after 10-15 minutes of playing.   It seems normal for awhile, then stutters for a bit, then slowly grinds to a halt.

Rolling back to an earlier driver set fixed things, and I've resisted the urge to grab the latest and greates for some time now.  :)  Gotta have my BZ2...

When it crashes I sometimes get:

Uhoh.  Repeatedly failed to call BeginScene, Probably some kind of graphics error.  Exiting.

Drivers...

Dropped support for older games.

Try rolling back and see if that helps. Or just finding older ones.

60fps throughout, never drops below 40.  Went back to every mission I lagged in, and so far I can't drop it below 50 in most situations,   it drops below 40 on mission loading though.... but you don't need FPS then.

Went back to the same mission where you have to defend the two pieces of "hardware",  its so much easier doing that at 60fps than at 5fps.

Now I just hope my other games work on this older driver.

Also I'm up on medium settings atm, will try high as well.

Glad you got it going too.  If you are worried about the other games, perhaps you can obtain another PC and configure it to be your BZII rig.

dont worry about that

as Nielk1 said, the next patch should improve FPS a lot. You've just got to be patient.

Even more patient seeing as GSH is going to have even more other things taking up his time soon!

/sighs, get it going good, and get to the scion missions.
Everytime I have a scion builder go make a lung(which if you know the missions... this makes doing them hard)....   game crashes.

No errors, just black screen, lock, and exe poofs.  Maybe it just don't want me to play the scion missions.  ISDF missions work ok still.

After the game crashes... post up the contents of BATTLEZONE.log from the root directory and we should be able to find out the problem.
Others would merely say it was good humour.

Full log file won't fit in one post

I installed a second BZ 2 in a diff directory and left it at 1.0 instead of 1.3 PB4
Transformation(first scion mission) went off without a hitch with no other modifications.  Still crashes in PB4.

Between 1.0 and 1.3PB4a, I can play through every mission except one.

Scion mission #2, Ambush
1.3PB4a - can't get to it as I'm stuck in #1 Transformation even game.cheat bzwinner crashes/error.

1.0 - can do the mission up until it says take a builder to the ambush spot.   I send a builder to the ambush spot, and build a jammer beside the ambush spot, neither the builder to ambush nor jammer objectives update.  I build jammers all throughout my base as I can, move the builder back and forth, but can't find a way to update it.  After a while, I go storm the ISDF base out of anger, and easily destroy it, but then a neverending wave of counterattacking ISDF units comes.

You don't just have to build a jammer, it tells you that you must also build some defenses. And that means usually one spire, but I always bring two guardians there also. It won't activate until you build that spire.

In Ambush, are you using the Builder that was already provided when the mission loads up to make the Jammer?  Do not make another Builder from the Matriarch and then send that to the Jammer point (use a second Builder for anything else).  From what I remember, the script only calls for the Builder already manufactured right as the game starts.  I don't recall the spire activation that Axes mentions, but also give that a shot.

Try BZII version 1.1 or 1.2 to run this mission if you can't run it in 1.0, if you haven't already.  You can also install versions 1.3pb1, pb2, pb3 and pb4 (not pb4a) if that gets your gander.
