how about an enemy that kills your ships and then sends out a unit that pieces it back together in some chop shop way for their side and uses it against you. that would be pretty fun. just an idea.

Biometal is a living metal with memory. All you'd have to do is pick up the droplets from an exploded enemy, then scan its memory and add the designs to your own factory. Easy.

And you're right, that would actually be a great enemy. An enemy made up of the best units of every race it fights.... thats pretty scary actually.

unless you made it so that since theyre getting the blueprints from already ruined ships, their copies arent quite as good as the originals. This could balance it out some.

well for example in halo, i know not everyone is a halo fan but i dont care. the covenant take over a species and then add its tech to its own and such and theyre not unbalanced. what im imagining is like they piece back ships that resemble yours but arent like a saber with different looks and speed but they get more units for ones they kill. i actually got the idea from the flood on halo.

never watched much star trek only thing i know about the borg is they have a giant cube, theyre cyborgs and you dont want to piss them off

The thing about reverse engineering is that you either get something better or something worse, you can never hit it exact.

There is also the problem of cost of resources to take into account. Not to mention warpped specs and damaged blueprints from a random piece of biometal.

I would think that having a physical example to work off of (i.e. a sniped unit or a larger, more intact biometal chunk) would give one more success.

Also i would think other races would agree with the Dalek Creed: "All other life is lesser and must be EXTERMINATED. WE WILL NOT TAINT OURSELVES WITH THEIR FILTH!!!"

The Borg have been done twice in BZ2. I want to do it a third time if anyone is interested. The hitch? I make the base DLL for special stuff never before done, and someone else makes the missions, story, and non MP required assets. (I like making races and DLLs, not full mods. Then again, that is what mod teams are for.)
