The Two Cores theory has always confused me... I shall read up :)

It is not a theory, it is blatant cold hard fact (in fiction).

The Core planet stabilizes biometal so the Scions need it, but it is dying. So they use the Alchimators on 3 planets in the same system as core to terraform the Biometaloid Dark Planet in our solar system into a new Core. Thus, 2 Cores...

The FE story even says they go back to the old dying Core in the Mire System.

I have a story I have put together that explains the existence of the Core Planet, and amazing in prodding Avatar found many of my thoughts were the same as his. I have this story as part of a understory to something else.

Avatar gets grumpy when he's prodded...   :)

I'll give everyone wanting to make a Mod a tip...   when you want to expand a story you first need to fully understand the story.  This means looking not only at what the story says, but what it doesn't say as well.

Here's the example using what Nielk1 is talking about...

Both storylines in BZ2 revolve around three cool power crystals that power three HUGE machines, on three different planets, apparently created by three different races (given the different building styles) an untold number of years ago (but probably a very long time ago).

When activated these machines shoot out beams that, once they get through a wormhole, turn a frozen planet light years away into a fresh new duplicate of an almost used up planet that's right next door to the three planets with the HUGE machines that use the three cool power crystals.

Now...

If this DOESN'T make you ask WTF???  you haven't been paying attention.

WHO would make even ONE of these machines?  For WHAT?   Why would three different races want to Xerox a planet that's right next door?   How did they even know the Dark Planet existed?  What would they do with it once they copied it?

I mean, the whole backstory is just begging to be told... which is what I think Nielk is getting at, but this sort of thing works for any story.   Everything has a beginning, and figuring out how we got where we are is often a lot of fun...

Too bad everyone is worried about the FUTURE.

"Who controls the past controls the future."

History repeats itself, you find the reasons for things past, you can prevent/envoke similar events. That in iteself is a good mod basis. :P

Red Devil

When the Chinese use those portals, do they go backwards and/or forwards in time or not?
What box???

Clavin12

Perhaps the 1.3 community project should be a story of the history of those three planets, and the cthonians that lived there.

Um... its not even a logical assumption that the people of Icarus(Cthonia) even inhabited them.

BZ2 only mentions that Cthonian characters can be found on the Mire Ruins. We assume they are from the Scions.

Nielk1

But it is later found Braddock made the Scions well before those ruins existed. And IIRC the symbols were Cthonian like, but required a large but of work before they could be translated, so are they just based on the Cthonian language?

My story is of the distant events of the past that explains the existence of the Core planet itself, but the actual mod takes place shortly after FE normally would have, only after the events of the ISDF ending of BZ2. Confusing?

What is a safe year to start a new story after everything thats happened so far with the EDF?? I keep asking this and no one has answered it yet and I really need to know it. Its the last thing I need to know before posting my rough draft.
And remember, any problem caused by a tank can be solved by a tank.

Nielk1

Well, I told you to look at the FE story line and then see if FE had a storyline.

And remember, you mod can branch off from the mod/game story line anytime you want.

And as a note, my wiki is really a CMS rather than a Wiki. It does not go though source evaluation like a real wiki.

I don't know when that story ends. Thats the problem. I don't know the dates. Thats why I'm asking. I want to know when the last story involving the EDF ends. What year?
And remember, any problem caused by a tank can be solved by a tank.

AHadley

If you want to know when the last EDF story ends, we would be modding past FS3, possibly just before mods like Serenesis that are set in a hundred years or so. It would be safer to work in the 20-year-or-so gap between FE and FS.That being mid-late '00s to early-mid '20s.

So I can start at say... 2030? And things can really take off in 2040's?

Just in case something conflicts, keep in mind in this story, the ISDF reforms, take over again, and the EDF are reduced to AAN guard duty.

Another thing? Where's the best place to post this story? I'm hoping it sparks a new community mod that takes place in the FE storyline.
And remember, any problem caused by a tank can be solved by a tank.

Warfreak

Well, 2050 and beyond actually gives enough leg room to not only make you mod about further events but you can add some backstory for the 10-20 years between it and the last FleshStorm Mod(Presumably FS3).

OR you can go with the alternate universe idea. I personally plan to do a "What if biometal never hit Earth" scenario.
This basically implies that Cthonia (otherwise known as Icarus) was never destroyed as an effort to kill the Furies and that either the Ancient Olympians and Hadean still exist or that the Furies had won and have yet to strike Earth. This also means that Earth will eventually be thrown into the Biometal legacy but the means will be different.

This type of Alt.Universe leaves room for new resources to rise and thus new technology.

General_Hoohah

okay, then the backstory will start in 2042 and the action will start in the 2050's. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Really, I needed this information really badly!
And remember, any problem caused by a tank can be solved by a tank.

Clavin12

are you writing a story for 1.3 community project?
