Mozilla Firefox Issue: Forgetting Passwords

Hey Bzu,

I've recently been having an issue with Firefox; it doesn't remember my passwords.

Every time I open up Firefox, and go to, say, my email, I have to type in both the username and password. Normally, I wouldn't have to, as it remembers them both. I've gone to internet options, made sure that the cookies, history, etc are not being cleared after I close Firefox. It shows that the passwords are saved in the internet options. I have tried removing the history, cookies, passwords, etc. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox twice, once deleting personal data (bookmarks, cookies, etc). I've forced the password to save, and it shows up on the saved passwords list. I don't have any programs that would delete any of these internet files and whatnot.

I've tried deleting everything and forcing a password to save. Both of those don't work. Even with the password clearly saved, I have to retype everything every time I open Firefox.

I think the event that caused this was a Blue Screen of Death, which came up out of nowhere, and happened right as I was browsing on Firefox. Turned off the pc, and next time it was on, Firefox won't remember any of the passwords.

I've looked all over the internet, but there doesn't seem to be a solution anywhere (I couldn't even find out what the actual problem is). All the recommendations I've found, I've tried.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I have no idea what that means and how to do that.

But...it's started to behave normally now after a few days, for no apparent reason. I didn't do anything, but I booted Firefox and my login was remembered. For now, the problem's gone.

Once it's more secure :P

and stop pushing it on everybody

Never ever. It's less secure than IE. The fact IE holes don't work on it don't help that it has 10 times as many of its own holes.

I like the micromanagement I get with Firefox + NoScript.

I don't think I've said anything about it here for months. :p

Perhaps the file that holds the passwords is corrupt even after a reinstall of firefox? Try uninstalling firefox, and re-installing to a new location.

I had a similar problem, however, I fixed it by reinstalling normally.
