I had a similar experience.  I was on dialup for about a decade, since the mid-1990's (Juno, Netzero, FreeDSL, etc), and finally got fiberoptic near end of 2007.  Well unless I also count my stints at dialup in the mid-1980's (300 baud) and on BBSes and Commodore Quantum Link (which eventually became AOL) in the early 90's, then it would be more like 2 decades on dialup, heh.   Just got tired of being HPB in Quake2.

The 1.3 public beta 5.1 seems to be getting more popular so i'd suggest having more than one install of battlezone II if your hard drive is big enough.

The only use of 1.2 now is playing FE and SFP and flying.

HECK you can fly aircraft in 1.3. And that mod with the pilotable APC  that shoots out 4 soldiers at a time... which is it?
