I know there's some controversy about this song, but for some reason it strikes a chord with me... (no, not an intentional pun, but I'll take it)

I could get all philisophical, likening the lyrics to looking back after half a life spent (I hope)... but it would be lost on many of you...
I could get slightly depressed, given I've imbibed depressant liquid (orange flavored vodka, quite a time saver!) but I feel more thoughtful than depressed (oops, there's a tax ad on TV. Now I'm depressed... :) )
Instead I'll be patronizing...
Right now many of you rule the world, but you don't even know it. Many of you are thinking "When I get out of High School", or "When I'm done with College", or "When I get married", or some other silly thing that basically means "right now sucks and someday it won't suck", or that you just have to get through wherever your life is now and things will be wonderful, or some other such nonsense.
Take it from me, there's no place like now. You should be making now the best time in your life, because it very likely is. And next year will then be the best time of your life. And the year after that... that is, if you're doing it right.
Now, I'm not saying everything will suck in the future, or that everything is great right now, I'm saying that it's up to you. YOU decide, at all times, how you will react to the universe no matter what it throws at you. Your will, your mind, your heart, all determine who and what you are in this universe.
Some advice from an old timer:
Put aside your fears, your anxiety, your worries. Learn as much as you can. Love as much as you can. Feel love and fun and pain and hurt and joy and sadness and... LIVE Make each moment something you'll never regret.

It might be because i am not of legal age to drink, or maybe its because i find Beer n Wine n such very bitter so i do not want to drink them but i dont get how when your drunk the first thing you think about is going on the computer and posting something?
If people made sense when they got drunk it wouldn't be getting drunk.
Drunk people are very funny to watch, though.

My father was just talking about how in college he mixed tang powder with vodka, I think it was vodka...
i must be one of the few kids in the world who refuse to drink. not out of any kind of beliefs or religious views, just out of pure hatred of the stuff. i guess ive had to deal with a lot of bad experiences with things related to alcohol. but hey, im wont be complaining when im the one without the hangovers :D

I am still to young (19) and wont when I can. I see no purpose in it.
When you get to college you'll have a reason. Either that or you are on anti-depressants :P
I will be allowed (legally) to drink in 5 months. Thankyou Australian law whereby anyone over 18 can drink themselves under the table.

legal age here is also 18, but the UK has a really horrible binge drinking culture that i cant stand.

little drunk... I've only been
completely drunk once in my life and it just put me to sleep. No funny antics or anything that would get me on the news, I just happily went to sleep.
Drinking, like many mood altering experiences, affects everyone differently. I personally think it just drops the exterior facade and shows what core emotions you have going at the time. Apparently my core emotions need more sleep... :)

None of us would have dead brain cells in our heads, the space is too valuable and anything not in active use is repurposed or recycled in some way.
You actually start with an excess and lose 2/3 of them in the first ten or eleven years.

bleh, i had rum once, illegally, im 17 i hate not being in control of myself and the taste just burns my mouth. i dont know why people like to drink that stuff its like getting a mouthful of gasoline. the smell is alright i can at least stand it but tasting it is more than i can handle. im not drinking again.
Start out on light beer and gradually learn to like the stronger stuff.

You know Avatar, I think that single piece of advice just might be a cliche now.
When you actually think about it, its a great piece of wisdom. After I grew up all these years, watching others grow with me, and watching myself grow, that wisdom is finally starting to register in my head. With me, and many other people around my age, I get caught up in school though. Many times its all we think about, its all we strive about, and thats our main focus for these years we have of youth. Once we finish all that school several years later, that phase of youth has already faded.
Also what do you define as "living life to the fullest?"
Most people around my age are obsessed with texting, games, technology, drugs, partying, etc. Do those fall into the category? Or do you have to do spectacular things that engrave themselves into your memory? It is soo much easier for most of us to go shop at the mall or to text each other than to go experience something. All these gizmos and gadgets and other people caught up in them just create a secluded realm that blocks the rest of the world. We're just getting lazy and scared.
I just personally think its incredibly difficult for us (the younger generation) to live to that fullest. We're boxed in by education, and further pulled from the outside by the magnetism of social trends.
Am I wrong? In these years in high school and middle school, that is what I saw. Its even hard to even think about "living to the fullest".
