The article I read this afternoon says they are laying off 200 Pandemic employees and moving the rest to LA.  The rest didn't sound like very many.  That said, they have several developers that work remotely and they weren't mentioned at all.

And, the guys that put Pandemic together are on the outs, which is standard fair after the dust settles.  You can't ever let the main management go during a takeover or your stock tumbles so they always wait six plus months before cleaning upper management if practical.

I'd love to see these guys start up a new studio and have a go at it again.

Red - you should be able to go to control panel -> system and enter your key and activate the Win 7 install without doing a second install.  This has worked for me on several machines so far.

Just build a virtual machine of XP and put iTunes in that.  Then transfer the file out.  Use, QuickTime alternative from codecguide.com and you may be set.

I have become a complete believer in virtual machines for testing and because it seems I have to have way too many different versions of Java installed for my different Cisco network admin tools to run properly.  I have a VM for each version I have to have on hand.

I have put this version up for download on my site: www.valler.com/bz2/

And, the only thing that bit me was the pilot screen wouldn't let me select a pilot or quit on the first load.  I had to hit ~ and type quit to get out of it cleanly. On re-entry everything worked fine. This was an upgraded 1.3pb4a install on my laptop.

I don't have this problem when I upgrade a clean install without any existing pilot files.  I'm just mentioning this for those that are unaware as I know this has already been added to the bug list.

News / Re: G66 2.0

BBB - you should definitely try out the MPI and G66 maps.  You can always play them by yourself, either by setting a password on your session or just not having your network setup to host games.  The G66 v1.5 stuff for BZ2 v1.2 is great stuff and should definitely be experienced if you like SP/IA stuff.  I am a bit biased, but that is what it is.

You can grab a very good full installer pack of G66 version 1.5 from my website: http://www.valler.com/bz2

There are even more maps out there, but that installer has everything you need to get started in one very easy file.

I have an ASUS Physx P1 PCI card looking for a good home.  The card was used once and was removed to install a quality sound card.  It works fine and is in great shape.  If you are willing to pay shipping from the Kansas City area it is yours for free.  Otherwise, it is going to the great recycling center in the sky.

Just cleaning house,

I just grabbed the map and I'm getting these errors in my battlezone.log:

Hey Techie,

The Rev C and D patches were for MPI only.  The Rev D patch finally fixed the Scion over-build, the portal bug, added a few optional extras to liven it up a bit and give map makers a few more options.

Good luck on getting it all running nicely.  You may check to see if you have the fix for the Full FE install with Rev C included.  I have a copy on my site if you can't find it:  www.valler.com/bz2

Overdrive Terminal / Re: Battlezone 3

Here is an open source game engine I've been messing with:  http://www.flatredball.com/frb/

Been working on a orthogonal board game for my own amusement.  I have very little exposure to other engines so I can't say if it is the bee's knees or not, but it does what I need and there are lots of people working on it.

The sky issue is an Nvidia thing.  Anyone with an 8xxx + video card and any relatively recent driver has this problem.  Have to run with no sky.

Maps and Modding / animated texture on ships?
July 27, 2008, 07:11:39 PM
Has anyone been able to put an animated texture/area on a ship similar to the powergen?  I has thinking of experimenting with Blender to create a organic type ship with a glowing orb for the engine and wanted to have a moving texture on the orb so it looked like it was sort of alive.

If you have succeeded, please give me some pointers.

Thanks,

I've been out of it so long, so, how do I export the terrain?  I didn't find it in the console commands.  And, can you point me to 3dex?

Thanks,

Doesn't 1.3 recognize the .X models so you don't have to convert to .XSI?  Am I missing something?  Am curious as I want to make soime terrain objects so my question is how to export terrain out of an existing map and do the round trip edit into/out of blender?

Spawn - yep, I always forget about the "internet thru Gamespy" and "local LAN" toggle button on the games list.
