I was wondering about on how to make BZ 2 a bit easier, and considered that it can be done with speech recognition technology!
I'm not so pro in programming, that's why I don't do it myself, but I bet there's some programmers who know BZ 2 better.
Here's the link for the software development kit:

It has a working example to Age of Empires 2, I hope it helps you and we see a speech controlled BZ 2 soon.
Your best bet is an external program, I can't see BZ2 itself containing this. Especially with how mods constantly change the way things work.
I like speech recognition on my RTS... if it's a console RTS.
PC RTS? I'll take the keyboard thanks.
Unless you're the announcer at a horse race, most people can type faster than they can talk. Hitting a few number keys to build a scav is *not hard*.

Now, find some nice voice chat stuff and slip GSH some bills :-P
well, build a scav is not so hard, but for example build 2 walkers and 6 service trucks is a bit more difficult when you are in a mortar bike and circling around a walker.
I bet you could get a sound command to key combo program for the background.
of course, it was just an idea.. :-)

That's what switch command is for ;)
Oh yes, because dodging an enemy with the chat menu covering your entire screen is easy...
But speech control doesn't seem necessary to me.

Before, you fool, before!
We need a shortcut for giving up and taking command (Adds this to TJ's newkeys as he speaks).

Dude! that is too cool! I just learned recently about alt-X on accident. Are there any other hotkeys i should be aware of?
It might be Shift+M actually.
What's Alt+X?
Most of them are on my control card, if I can find it i'll grab a scan.

Damn you and your always-prepared-for-anything-ness...
Hmm. CTRL+M is on there but Alt+X isn't. What's it do?

Close dialog. If you are in Multiworld it has Quit/Change Server/Back or some such, else, Quit/Back.
Very interesting.

I've used it to exit strait to windows instead of going through the menus

Yeah but not impossible. I recently commanded against a very good 1.2 player named stalker and was fighting him and at the same time building things in my base, and I still won the blast tank fight. I immediately thought that maybe really good commanders did this all the time -- even building things and sending units to nav points in the middle of a fight.
I do it, but I usually loose the fights when I do. :-D
I do it, but I've never won a fight! :-D
Also known as... I need to work on my 1 on 1 technique... any one up for some 1v1 training?
i build things and fight at the same time quite often, it doesn't disturb my concentration on my fighting.
Speech control would help those who don't have that concentration.
We've been through this.
The words dead, horse, and flogging come to mind.
