Public 1.3 Beta 3 Archive / Minor issues
October 21, 2006, 08:04:06 PM
I was replaying the single player missions and noticed a few things.

On the pluto missions, some of the ground bitmaps are a bit messed. Specifically, the overhanging rock structures that are around a few places, the bitmap on the ground changes for near/far range rendering. One rendering seems fine, but when it switches to the other rendering, the bitmap appears to be some scion ship skin rather than the dirt/ground bitmap. It's a bit strange to suddenly see scion markings all over the rocks.

The other is that in the mission with the scion haulers (third I think), the tunnels are behaving strangely. When you first go into the tunnels to search for the hauler, when you see it, it suddenly pops up to the surface, through the roof.  Later in the same mission, Shaby tells you to follower her and she heads back into the tunnel. Only when she heads down into the tunnel, she suddenly pops back to the surface, and continues along the path but up on the surface rather than in the tunnel. (at least I presume it was the surface, I was in the tunnel and could not see how far up they had gone. Maybe they were somehwere in the tunnel roof).

Public 1.3 Beta 3 Archive / Line of Fire
September 22, 2006, 10:04:15 AM
I've seen this a few times now, since PB3. (I don't recall seeing it earlier than that).

I will be dogfighting an enemy hover ship, trying to circle around it to fire at it from the side. The idea being if it is not pointed at me it can't shoot me.
Several times now, I've had enemy ships shoot me while I'm off to the side. I've actually seen a sentry in front of me, pointed about 45 degrees off to my left, and the green beams coming out of the side of the ship at me. They are not going toward the direction of the ship.

I'm not sure if this is a graphics issue where the ship is really angled differently than the graphic representation. Or if there is something in the targeting that is allowing it to shoot other than straight ahead.

Any ideas? Any confirmation?

Public 1.3 Beta 2 Archive / small things
March 02, 2006, 07:19:59 AM
In IA:Dunes, I built a kiln, then set the dropoff point.
After upgrading to a Forge, the dropoff point was back in the default spot. (This may be normal, but it's the first time I've seen it).

Also, in IA:Chill I went into the ISDF factory and rec consoles. The ship images in the console window were incomplete. They were just the canopy and some lights swirling around. The body was invisible. (Except the rocket tank, that was all there.)

I had another strangeness but I can't tell if it was me or something in the game. I was near the center pool in IA:Dunes and had a scav near me on F5. There were a few enemy scavs near by also. I directed my scav to plant on the pool. I turned away to deal with something else. When I looked back, an enemy extractor was on the pool and my F5 scav was back in my base. (Can't remember if maybe my scav died and i had made another one some time, but it was on the same F-key and i had open slots and there was not anything else nearby that could have killed my scav.)

Public 1.3 Beta Archive / Minor - Sound bug
March 25, 2005, 09:40:38 PM
I was in a DM, I had a warrior and was firing the Ion Gun while moving. I ran across a laser powerup while firing the ion gun. The ion gun fire sound contunued to play even when I stopped firing, even when I switched weapons and fired different weapons.
It seemed to forget to stop one weapon sound when a different one loaded into its slot.

Public 1.3 Beta Archive / Sniping for Upgrades
December 04, 2004, 12:08:50 AM
I presume this is by design, but I have to ask.

I was playing 1.3 MPI Defend as Scion.
My friend had a stock warrior. He jumped out and let a passing enemy pilot get into it. He then snipped it and got back in. It was upgraded with arc and shield.

I can see enemy created ships getting upgrades, but why ships that enemy pilots take over?

OK, this has happened a couple of times to me now.

I order up two weapons quickly.  I order one and specify a destination on the ground near me. I then quickly order up another of the same thing, and specify another location on the ground. The first one is still being made, so the menu is limited to only that item.
When the powerups arrive, they both land in the same place, the location of the second destination point.

I'm pretty sure 1.2 handled this correctly, but I may not have actually done it this quickly there. I'll have to go try it.

I noticed quite often that when I have a tank with a stock morter in it, and I target a tower that is fairly far away, sometimes the red terget lead indicator will be in the wrong place. It looks as if it is in the appropriate place for an MDM morter. If I use the targeting point, the regular morters fall way short.

I've seen this in many of the 1.3 MPI maps.
