Then I'll probably never try it :-(
#2
Is there a PC version?
#3
I feel that if they added aircraft, submarines and superweapons, they would have killed battlezone's uniqueness. It would just be another strategy game - like a FPS of any game from the C&C serial...
#4
Gracias, Nielk1!
#5
What do you mean exactly?
Although I prefer Bz1, I still think Bz2 is a worthy sequel... It doesn't have the same gloomy/mysterious atmosphere (among other things that make Bz1 so great), but I loooved playing it just the same.
#6
Right! Graphics aren't everything.
I even still enjoy playing FreeSpace 1 (for some reason I've always thought of it as a deep space counterpart of Bz 1).
A soul (like the one Bz 1 has) makes a game, not soulless graphics (Bz 2)!
#7
You need to play Bz1 to see why it's better than Bz2...
It has some things that Bz2 doesn't have.
#8
I haven't played Forgotten Enemies, but it sounds like another TRO - an attempt to take money for a hastily slapped together project...
#9
Bigbadbogie,
Maybe... But it was complete! It was a new Bz game! Unlike TRO. Although I think Bz 1 is a much greater accomplishment than Bz 2, I still like the sequel!

Clarify...
#11
Are you saying that Bz as a whole would have ceased to exist? Bz 2 would have never been created?
If there's truth in that, it would have been very, very sad...
#12
BUT WHY did they develop it in such a short time????
Either make it good, or don't make it at all!
#13
Little green army men - sure!
Planetary posters (ahm... star wars themed)- sure!
Various Sci-Fi books - sure!

Battlezone will always have a special place in my heart...

I don't know about the rest of you, but my TRO constantly switches from windowed to full screen mode when I'm going through menus, and it always changes my windows mouse cursor to the one from it's menu... It gets really frustrating!
Also, the programmers didn't bother to put the scroll down arrow in the briefing screen - in one mission there's the situation, mission objectives, and all you can see from the engineering report is the sub heading!!
Without disrespect to anybody, but these guys butchered the original Bz.

But seriously, the Chinese units look like a bunch of toys. They could have done a much better job. With more creativity... You can immediately tell which two armies are from the original!
