Modding Tutorials / Talking BZ2 Encyclopedia.
October 20, 2009, 01:45:14 PM
Since i'm far too lazy to write out all the stuff I know about BZ1/BZ2 Modding, I decided to make this thread for anyone who want's to ask questions about BZ1/BZ2 modding. If you want to know if it's possible, how to fix a bug, Etc, I'll try my best to answer it, or someone else might.

Catagories I specialize in:

-Odfs
-Shells
-Xsi's
-Maps
-Setups/Configuration
-General knowledge of how BZ2 works. (If your dreams are possible or not)

Note, I also know a fair deal about AIP/DLL, although some of the other modders are more experienced in such areas. Red Devil, GreenHeart, and Nielk1 for instance. Just because something isn't listed above, doesn't mean that I, or somebody else, can't answer it.

Rules:

1: Read all the previous questions to make sure yours hasn't already been asked.
2: Please keep your posts consolidated and orderly, and stay on topic.
3: Try not to overwhelm me, replies to your questions will be made quoting your question.
4: Again, No Spam, Flames, or Off Topic posts!

So,...Who's first?

Overdrive Terminal / Help Me Fix My Msn.
September 28, 2009, 08:56:38 AM
Ever since a forced update to msn messenger about a month ago ? i have been unable to log in. It comes up with Windows Live Communications Platform "send" "dont send" error message, indicating it crashed. I think it's called dr winston debugger or some such, happens when a program inexpicebly explodes.

Well, that message pops up every time i hit "sign in". I've been unable to correct it by reinstalling msn messenger, reverting msn messenger, or by hitting my computer with a baseball bat.

So....any ideas?

Overdrive Terminal / Battlezone in other games?
April 25, 2009, 07:36:03 PM
BTW: GSH, i have a question:

Why is it, after I installed Star Trek: Armada 2, in the "misc" folder, there is: misn18.des

wich reads:

You will lead a small force behind enemy lines to destroy the Furies launch pad.  You will only have a limited amount of time to hit your target and then you must return to the dust off site before the moon explodes.

MISSION OBJECTIVES
- Destroy the Fury launch pad.

as well as moon.act, moon.alb, moon.lum,  moon.tbl, and sprite8.stb, spritea.stb ? wich i believe are also BZ1 related.

How did these end up in Star Trek Armada II?

Overdrive Terminal / How To Be Annoying:
October 09, 2008, 03:57:08 PM
How To Be Annoying (A Guide)
* Adjust the tint on your TV so that all the people are green, and insist to others that you ''like it that way.''
* Drum on every available surface.
* Sing the Batman theme incessantly.
* Staple papers in the middle of the page.
* Ask 800 operators for dates.
* Produce a rental video consisting entirely of dire FBI copy warnings.
* Sew anti-theft detector strips into people's backpacks.
* Write the surprise ending to a novel on its first page.
* Specify that your drive-through order is ''to go.''
* Set alarms for random times.
* Buy large quantities of mint dental floss just to lick the flavor off.
* Order a side of pork rinds with your filet mignon.
* Honk and wave to strangers.
* Dress only in clothes colored Hunter's Orange.
* Change channels five minutes before the end of every show.
* Tape pieces of ''Sweating to the Oldies'' over climactic parts of rental movies.
* Decline to be seated at a restaurant, and simply eat their complementary mints by the cash register.
* ONLY TYPE IN UPPERCASE.
* only type in lowercase.
* dont use any punctuation either.
* Buy a large quantity of orange traffic cones and reroute whole streets.
* Pay for your dinner with pennies.
* Repeat everything someone says, as a question.
* Repeat the following conversation a dozen times: ''Do you hear that?'' ''What?'' ''Never mind, it's gone now.''
* Light road flares on a birthday cake.
* Wander around the restaurant, asking other diners for their parsley.
* Leave tips in Bolivian currency.
* Push all the flat Lego pieces together tightly.
* At the laundromat, use one dryer for each of your socks.
* As much as possible, skip rather than walk.
* Stand over someone's shoulder, mumbling, as they read.
* Finish the 99 bottles of beer song.
* Leave your turn signal on for fifty miles.
* Pretend your mouse is a CB radio, and talk to it.
* Try playing the William Tell Overture by tapping on the bottom of your chin. When nearly done, announce ''No, wait, I messed it up!'' and repeat.
* Drive half a block.
* Name your dog ''Dog.''
* Ask people what gender they are.
* Reply to everything someone says with ''That's what YOU think.''
* Lick the filling out of all the Oreos, and place the cookie parts back in the tray.
* Forget the punchline to a long joke, but assure the listener it was a ''real hoot''.
* Routinely handcuff yourself to furniture, informing the curious that you don't want to fall off ''in case the big one comes''.
* Follow a few paces behind someone, spraying everything they touch with a can of Lysol.
* Deliberately hum songs that will remain lodged in co-workers' brains, such as ''Feliz Navidad'', the Archies' ''Sugar'' or the Mr. Rogers theme song.
* While making presentations, occasionally bob your head like a parakeet.
* Lie obviously about trivial things such as the time of day.
* Make beeping noises when a large person backs up.
* Leave your Christmas lights up and lit until September.
* Change your name to John Aaaaasmith for the great glory of being first in the phone book. Claim it's a Hawaiian name, and demand that people pronounce each A.
* Sit in your front yard pointing a hair dryer at passing cars to see if they slow down.
* Chew on pens that you've borrowed.
* Invent nonsense computer jargon in conversations, and see if people play along to avoid the appearance of ignorance.
* Wear a LOT of cologne.
* Ask to ''interface'' with someone.
* Listen to 33rpm records at 45rpm speed, and claim the faster speed is necessary because of your ''superior mental processing.''
* Sing along at the opera.
* Mow your lawn with scissors.
* At a golf tournament, chant ''swing-batatatatatata-suhWING-batter!''
* Finish all your sentences with the words ''in accordance with prophesy.''
* Go to a poetry recital and ask why each poem doesn't rhyme.
* Ask your co-workers mysterious questions, and scribble their answers in a notebook. Mutter something about ''psychological profiles.''
* Stare at static on the TV and claim you can see a ''magic picture''.
* Select the same song on the jukebox fifty times.
* Scuff your feet on a dry, shaggy carpet and seek out victims.
* Do not add any inflection to the end of your sentences, producing awkward silences with the impression that you'll be saying more any moment.
* Never make eye contact.
* Never break eye contact.
* Signal that a conversation is over by clamping your hands over your ears.
* Construct elaborate ''crop circles'' in your front lawn.
* Construct your own pretend ''tricorder'' and ''scan'' people with it, announcing the results.
* Give a play-by-play account of a person's every action in a nasal Howard Cossell voice.
* Holler random numbers while someone is counting.
* Make appointments for the 31st of September.
* Invite lots of people to other people's parties.
* Send fifty copies of this list to everyone you know.

And a new one:

* Repeatedly poke your friend's flatscreen as much as you can.

Maps and Modding / Shell Listbox Questions
September 08, 2008, 04:03:17 PM
Yes, I'm asking a question about .cfgs ...somebody take a picture  :roll:

anyway, I need to know if there's a way to tie in a listbox to open another listbox depending on wich item in the list you click on. And in the 2nd list, u click on something and it brings up a XSI / DES files in respective fields.

Is there a good way to do this without creating dozens of buttons?

Public 1.3 Beta 4 Archive / AIPs...?
August 23, 2008, 01:49:17 PM
Hmmm

Well, I'm going to get around to making BZC's AIP's I guess...

Don't really know where to start...

Provide names, Should I use gineric provide names for the AIP to grab? Like tank, ltnk, rckt, hraz, figh, etc... not including any race letters, so it would be gineric? Or does it need to have av/sv/bv/rv infront?

Also im not sure how to setup some things, so I'll be posting more questions for the masses...

Maps and Modding / Most horrific Bugs Ever Thread
July 24, 2008, 09:01:49 PM
I decided to start a little thread where modders can share their most emberressing/biggest/worst bugs they've ever made.

I think I automatically win this one...with a Bug I accidnely introduced into BZC for the past year. I'm fairly sure I've fixed it just now, the 3rd time...

In 1.3, there is a chat lobby, much like BZ1's lobby. For BZC, I made this in the main multiplayer page and not hidden like in stock BZ2.

Basic Description of Bug: When Ever a player hit the "multiplayer" button, or was in the multiplayer screen and then left, all BZC games in progress would AV.

Yes. I made a bug that kills multiplayer for an entire game at the touch of one button.

So, who's next?

Maps and Modding / Scriptor Help
July 23, 2008, 10:15:55 PM
whoot been a while since I asked for help.

This is directed at...BS's Scriptor usage in single player.

I need a way for the scriptor to lock onto the following event:

Player opens console and types "game.cheat bzradar"

so I can promptly endgame upon that command :D

Or use the move command on the player at the highest number the dll will export with, without crashing.
