Public 1.3 Beta Archive / Bumping into hills
March 01, 2004, 02:23:53 PM
Skidding along a slope going up does not follow physics and is a bug and has been fixed, think about it, if you drove your car at a wall, it would not start to drive up it, it would crash right into it.

Public 1.3 Beta Archive / 1.3 FIXME and Icon Bug
March 01, 2004, 02:22:13 PM
The FixMe: errors that relate to a team not being able to find someone I can reproduce easily by a bug in my spawning code in a dll I am making.  It seems to have something to do with a player not existing in-game when they should (aka in vehicle, pilot, etc...)

The current stencil shadows in BZ2 (any version) are from an old era and were not finished in programming, there are problems if shadows go through things, there are problems with other things as well, I am not sure but I do not think it uses the Depth Fail method when inside the shadow, would have to check again, but in the mean time, set shadows to medium or lower and all will work well.

Public 1.3 Beta Archive / Editor Crash
March 01, 2004, 02:17:21 PM
When I alt-tab, on occasion, not all the time, the text will dissapear, buttons, in-game, everywhere, beyond that, alt-tab works for me both in MP and editor builds.

As a response to the dll question above of getting a players target, do this instead, it already exists :)
GetUserTarget()
That will get the target of the user in single player, to do this in multiplayer is a bit more difficult, I *think* this *might* work, try it.
GetCurrentWho(GetPlayerHandle(int Team))

The tank feels the same to me.  I never use the scout.  I do use the morter bike if I am constrained to (I love morters, will not pilot a vehicle without em), it feels pretty similier, I just played with it and just for testing was able to get high enough I couldn't see the ground, stayed up for about 20 seconds, then started losing too much altitude.

How are the scouts slow, I can zip and buzz around just as ever as I was in 1.2.
#1223
70% to 80% of time in a scout?  Give me a tank wish sp-stab to plasma to blast, with chain or laser, mdm morters, and a M-Curtain and I am happy,  Scouts are used to feed that kind of tank :P

Flying is not a 'vet' tactic, it was a bug, pure and simple, that some people exploited.  I never flew yet I did not seem to have a problem winning.

Do not gripe abour bugs getting fixed, that is the purpose of a patch.  Patch's fix bugs, flying was a bug, how is this difficult to understand?

Also, for anyone wanting to make mission dll's with the released source, set your build warning level lower (3) and if you are going to make a debug build, relink it to bzone.lib, not battlezone.lib.  Doing this should allow it to work the best.

Heck, I get cd's by the thousands (speaking very literally here), cases and all, used to have a printer that printed directly onto a cd so it looked perfect, but it has since died.  Also have a cd multi-duplicator, I can make approx. 120 cd's an hour.  My father used to record bands and such but he's retired, I got all his old stuff, most of it is antiquated now but the CD burner and CD Printer was still quite good, the printer is dead but the duplicator is perfect.  I am pretty sure you can actually buy a prebuilt duplicator nowadays, probobly a great deal faster then what this one is.  But when we bought the cd's by the box (5000cd's *AND* full size cases), they totaled about 11 cents each, cd's, case, and all.  Of course that was about 4 years ago, they are probobly even cheaper by such large bulk amounts now.  If you do something like that, it could reduce production cost to easily less then a dollar a cd.
