Maybe this makes sense.

Active biometal -- part of the collective concious/unoncious and can things/send messages/information to things (other bio-metal).
* Furies
* 3rd Faction/New Race.

Inactive biometal -- can receive input from active bio-metal but can't return bio-metal signals.
* Scions.
* (Scion ships?)

Dead bio-metal -- alive in a similar sense to how virusus are "alive" -- can fix/repair itself but can't receive input from the collective.
* Humans ships.
* Cthonian ships.
* (Scion ships?)

Good show. So, in essence, giving the time to evolve, furies would eventually "get their cool" and evolve into some third faction? Not saying directly, but saying this type of connection probably exists. Perhaps they can alter their own makeup with a simple thought... how nightmarish....

OT: Player should find  derelict grizzly tank and have to get it working to get back to base :P I love that ship.

He lives in the US.  He should know English well enough that he can type it, even if he can't read it.

Is it bad that I've got a walker's foot that weighs in at ~250 tris?

Nowhere but UP, man!

So is 2200 overkill??

Your comment is not appreciated.

He is kind of right. There was so much enthusiasm a month back and now I don't see anyone anymore. Where'd everyone go?

This idea is getting more and more interesting as we discuss it...so many mysteries we could guide a player through..

fine 109 is still a good #.
now I gus I can try making the 10th work right?
don't think it will be to hard its just some small code to change.
no I did not test it becouse I did not want a comtower as a base building.

Try the Amercian mission where you must "clean up things here on Europa before we move on to Titan".  You have to destroy a mobile unit factory in this mission.  When you finally get over to the soviet factory, there are 3 soviet tanks parked at the base of the S/SW entrance(a large hill), and 4 howitzers are parked in the NW if you are here very very early.  When I initially come up on the base, all I see on radar are the two barracks, unit factory, and 4 howies...  All of the tanks are not on radar until they move.  Not sure if this is what you are talking about or not though.

Never noticed this in BZ2 though.

Off radar when standing still is default.

VelocJam was to let you set a speed when the off radar would happen manually (code to overwrite the default) like..20. Set to 20 and the grizzly would not appear on radar at full speed.

Classifying is hard-ball. We can't call anything "Destroyer" as it is already assigned to space-combat vehicles, much like carriers (see BZ1 last Mars mission sound files from ZFS- not included in game but can be considered Canon). You're giving a category to that one tank that really has no right existing in the first place. I hated that game...didn't it have that magic sniper with huge ammo in one mission? Gargantuan, now, or juggernaught...those are mighty sounding names that don't make me think of some giant elephant creature. What do we even care. It's a heavy tank. Bwahahhhahahaha!

Lets try not to get into an argument over classification here people, back to the Beeb's stuff, how fast would that thing be?

It wouldn't. It looks heavy, doesn't it? Think roughly 2 sabres side by side, or that siren guy from FE but a bit wider and longer. Again- you would preferably want it pointing any direction but at you, circle strafing should be easy. Mass drivers on this would probably have beam-like speeds, hitting (and probably destroying) almost as fast as you hit fire, leaving a nice trail of smoke and fire in the air to linger in the line of fire  :evil: but if it doesn't have a direct line of sight, it is useless. Must also be precise since the rounds aren't gigantic siege-driver boulders, so even if the field of smoke is large around them, it must be a direct hit to cause the damage. I'm thinking this can also be a chargegun since mass drivers do have a warm up time to get the round moving. My only concern is the barrels aren't long enough to accelerate the mass quickly enough.

You're classifying this with that big ugly 4 piece CCA ship thing  :?

Mmh, perhaps its secret weapon is heated, rotating circles of bio-metal which "shave" the ship. :evil:

Sets the texture to null :D

Models should be high poly if they need it, but not if they don't.

Interesting, doesn't fit my designs but interesting.

Doesn't sound like a Bomber at all though. Sounds like a Mammoth.

I can't really think of what a mass-driver wielding machine is called. Orbital station is the only thing I've seen, and that's Halo fandom. Mammoth is something you could call it I guess..maybe a weapon's platform.

I'm debating to put some chin mounted guns on it for point defense. Good plan?

"Interesting, doesn't fit my designs but interesting."
I pretty much started at the front with the BZ1 thunderbolt bomber in mind. Depending on the paint job, this could go to any faction, -scion.

About the poly count, I tend to go off and over-detail things more than I should. Maybe it's because I'm terrible at texture creation and offset that by making the underlying model look nicer.

@Clavin: How do we know what the third faction looks like yet? We're throwing things at the wall right now and seeing what sticks :P

ANOTHER edit: If I took the engine rings off, it would have the same thruster design as your concept, Nielk :P

BB LABS Presents:

Phoenix "Portable Solution" Bomber

Went through many redesigns before I settled with a production-worthy model. Sticking with the ?Agreed on??? Idea of Phoenix symbolism- and if that's dropped, then it can be the viper or hawk or whatnot- this was spawned.

So not a bomber in the common sense. Instead, it employs two triple-barelled rotating, cannon style* heavy mass drivers. The guns are incredibly heavy, along with the ammo they carry. Counteracting these two drawback are the sheer strength and speed of induction launchers such as these, as the rounds can be catapulted at incredible velocity and penetrate almost anything in one shot. Couple the triple barrels for quick reloads with a disipation shield to vent exhaust behind the guns to prohibit radiant heat and discharge from effecting the pilot, and you have one mean mother.

"Portable Solution?" It can move around on it's own, thus being portable. With the problem being anything that stands in its way, it is the solution. With barely enough thrust to make quick turns and stops, it is extremely vulnerable from the rear or sides and must be protected by an escort at all times- it costs way too much to replace or produce in large numbers. Also of note is the low ammo capacity, but this is offset by the insane damage it can cause to a base or heavy units in its path and at a given range. Like a bz1 golem: See one, thump it. See 2, send a squadron. See 5, pack up the base and GTHO. See 10, bend over and kiss your ass goodbye!

Gun assembly in the heat-shield:

Closing thoughts. This guy IS heavy. He weighs in at about 2200 polys, but if BZ2 CP is to go into the future, we should use the generous limit GSH gave us, eh?

*The in-game model will have barrel recoil for sure, but the concept model is set up in such a way that a shot causes the barrel to recoil quite heavily, much longer than the model pictured. After such a shot, the barrels would rotate to allow another shot to fire. BZ2 limitations may make this part just occur in a cutscene or movie. Barrels will also be redesigned toward the front if the community shows interest in this thing. Enjoy your evening!
