Title: Breaking Benjamin
Post by: iron maiden on December 11, 2009, 08:01:09 PM
If you have not heard of them, they are a rising alternative rock/ post grundge back from Pennslyvania who just recently released in album back in September. They are pretty good and have a cool bassist. They tend to focus more on softer songs, especially on their most recent album, which is sad as lead singer Ben Burnley has a voice more suited towards a heavier tone, especially live. Also a shame that their solo's are very small when they have such a talented guitarist. Any other fans?  Discuss

I'm not a huge fan of Breaking Benjamin. They way I internalize their style is "rock that's not sure if it wants to be pop or metal," correct me if you disagree.

I actually somewhat agree with you. As I said earlier, they focus Ben's voice on softer, love balladey kind of songs, particuraly recently. If their new album was more like Phobia, i would have liked the album a bit better.

I remember when their website would cause bz2 to crash if their site was up.  I think it affected HL2 too.  I like a few of the band's songs, but haven't heard many that weren't on the radio.

It was surprising and impressive, not in a good way, that their website could crash multiple DX games for me.  How a website was able to accomplish that is beyond me.  The website looks different now, so the issue may have been resolved.

How can a website crash a game? Sounds awfully funky..

I don't know how it could do that. Unless there was some form of bug on the website that did it, though someone would most likely pick up on it. Maybe its that Battlezone takes so much energy to run that balancing it along with the website causes an overload of the system.

Half-Life 2 would crash too so it affected other DirectX games too.  HL2 just wouldn't crash as frequently.

Blow Me Away is so retardedly broken it's not even funny.  And it's like... the only song anyone knows by them.  Whenever I find ANY music video with that song in it, I just skip it because I've heard it too many times.

What about Had Enough?  Until the End?  Unknown Soldier?  They're just as good - if not better.

I like pretty much all of their songs - including the love/ballady ones.  I think his voice is good for both the heavier and softer songs.

One of the things that's always appealed to me is the sheer impact of a lot of the power cords their guitarist plays (i.e. Had Enough).  Good stuff to listen to when you're working out.  :-D
