Ok, I've decided, starting in 2010 I'll be running year long tournaments, a challenge will be given to the participants each month and at the conclusion of the year we will have a best player and a best clan (and if I think it is deserved some less serious awards for displays of skill during the challenges). I haven't quite decided on a prize yet but I'm considereing custom banners for use in forum signatures.
If you wish to participate say so here along with which clan you'll be in (don't worry about clans too much, if you aren't in one and join one after putting your name down or leave the one you're in and join another just tell me and I'll change the information)
As for the challenges, they may take place on a number of different mods, but generally on the latest 1.3 patches, I'm hoping to make new maps for all of them. In order to make it completely fair everyone will have to screen capture their attempts and send them to me.
Also, if some of you could advertise this on other BZ2 related sites and direct people here it would be greatly appreciated. Let the registration commence, this is open until the end of December.
Current players:
aRc
Ahadley
VSMIT
Russian Roulette
FTD
Squirrel
TopGun
Other
-ComputerMaster1st-
DF-Mj.Gen.Dead_Eye
I'm in.
If we're using clans, I'm siding with aRc, but since I'm not a very good player I can help where I'm needed, if I'm needed.
This is the kind of thing the Comm Stats board was created for.
I'll be in, I suppose. aRc may be, as well, depending on if we get organized by then (and get more members).
aye...
i guess i should push harder on the EP :P
i might take part in this as long it doesn't have 4 way strats in it. (im very bad at 4 way strats)
I'd like to include them (its supposed to be an all round tournament, if you aren't good at one thing you can make up for it elsewhere). That said, ensuring that they aren't rigged could be a problem...
Spectator mode
I'm in - FTD :D
I am in. Will see about getting the rest of the FTD organized.
Mr X, so you're aware, I added Squirrel, TopGun, and FTD to your list.
I'd be interested in spectating. It would be fun. Plus I wanna see which of the native 1.3 players are really good. :-)
Also, I hope that Commando participates too. I stratted with him once and he's pretty good for a native 1.3 player.
Advertising in the development part of bzfiend.com which will soon be on bzfiend.com :). Once I release the index Template to bzfiend.com you'll see the advertisement.

Ok, thanks. :)
I am more likely to be creating things for you guys to torny in than to play them. Though I may since knowledge of making them might help offset how rusty I am at actual play.
Whats the structure of the event? Is it one big game?
No, there will be a challenge released to the community each month for a whole year. Some will be multiplayer, some wont.
sign me up, i decided i will take part in this.
btw, im not in a clan (as seen in sig)

zomg CM1 finaly regged for BZU.
I'd like to watch the games too. That is, if I could because OH WHY MUST I BE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD!?!??!

Restraining order. Lots of them.
Oh, I'm in!
And I guess I'm with .:]aRc[:. (<-- is that the way we had it?)

Yep. Don't have a site yet, Nielk1's still finalizing it.
Should those competing FRAPS this jaunx if they can?
No nothing like that. Just upload gamestats files and logs to prove what happened in the game :D. Easy... Spectating is POSSIBLE, but only if we used a non-biased party to do so, and someone trustworthy...
It wouldn't be overly difficult to moderate...
I can Mr X :P
Heh, watching and judging is something I can do. Suppose I should gain the trust back that I had when I was pretty well-known back in my BZ2 days. (then again, I didn't really find out about BZU for a while when I was in SFP)
I was asked by a friend to post a question so are there any rules like trainer coaches cant join it or anything like that?
Rushed to post question and misspelled sorry :).
I'm sorry, I don't understand what you're trying to ask.

I would say no, but I don't know what other people want.
He's asking if there is someone who can join the game and basically backseat command/tell the commander what to do while you're playing.
Ah, no then, its supposed to be a test of your own abilities.

Thanks I will relay that information to him.
I am just here asking if there is anymore info about the Tournament available. The FTD is training hard for this event and we just want to make sure that it us really going to take place. And we where wondering if there are any other clans take part in this event. We do not want to be the only clan signing up for the tournament.
.:.FTD.:.TopGun-Lt_Gen
aRc is, I think :-D
If aRc somehow ends up with less members than other entries I will play, otherwise I will stick to building challenges.
Just like to say, we could do with more than two clans signing up :P
And if people would like to start submitting challenges they can go ahead.
I'll have to get LOOT:Base finished. I reckon that'd be a pretty good one.
Ah yes, there could be a challenge where you get as many points as possible on a loot mission.
It would be best that if the map creator is in the game everyone get a tour of the map first, some time to play it a bit. If the map creator is not, I fully support first time play for the tourney.
Maybe the creator of the map should be spectator, moderator and host for his own map.
I'm differently interested in this and assuming my college schedule allows me I would love to particulate.
My in game name is Thor_Azrail
Any word lately on how this is panning out? Like I said earlier on, I wouldn't mind helping with judging and all that.
I think what wouldn't be a bad idea for the judges to have a 'special' vehicle that evades radar so that they won't be detected or anything, and has no weapons on it besides cloaking. More like an infinite cloak or something so they don't interfere with the actual battle.
The only minor problem would possibly be LOOT-based maps, since I bet they can still pick up the money bags.
if you want, i can use a sabre, keep the HP how it is (or i can make it unlimited), get rid of all weapons except for special (phantomVIR (i can edit it to be cloak (undetectable))) and make the ammo unlimited. also i can make the sabre very fast so you can visit each base and watch battles everywhere without missing any. (may cause handling issues)
if i can (not sure it is possible), i'll make another special for the force field to help defend you. believe me, sometimes i can make the impossible, possible.
Or you can just have a Cloak-Morpher with no weapons.
only the scion phantom has that.
I'd rather just use a scout as its the most maneuverable.
The HP stuff can be changed, or rather, its regen rate to something ridiculously high. I need to look at Sonic's little modification to one of the Scion scouts later to see what he did.
Maybe an invisible, uncollidable version of the command vehicle?
Would the arbiter be able to see everything? As in, would he be able to see both radars?
The arbiter COULD use a command vehicle that has an extremely large radar range. There are also ways to make it impossible to exit the vehicle -- but that would mean that it would be impossible to get good angles on the action. The best way to spectate, in my opinion, would be to put the spectator/arbiter in a SAV class vehicle (much like the fury). This would allow him to have a lower or higher view of the action, depending on what he would prefer -- as well as be unhindered by terrain.
If the spectator's vehicle is set to the neutral team, has no geometry (or geometry could be allowed, as long as it is not distracting), and has no radar signature -- then it would be unnecessary to include specials onto the spectator ship.
Has anyone even looked at the spectator vehicle i posted :P? Its perfect for this.
where?
