Wasn't velcJam used for when hovering units moved excessively slow or not moving at all to drop of radar. The opening movie in BZ1 hints at that with the Soviet Tank coming to a screeching halt to drop of radar. I could have sworn that still works in BZ2.

Try the Amercian mission where you must "clean up things here on Europa before we move on to Titan".  You have to destroy a mobile unit factory in this mission.  When you finally get over to the soviet factory, there are 3 soviet tanks parked at the base of the S/SW entrance(a large hill), and 4 howitzers are parked in the NW if you are here very very early.  When I initially come up on the base, all I see on radar are the two barracks, unit factory, and 4 howies...  All of the tanks are not on radar until they move.  Not sure if this is what you are talking about or not though.

Never noticed this in BZ2 though.

This was fun to deal with last night.  I just wondered if anyone else got to experience it, or did you sleep through the bad update/good update?

Battlezone 1 Patch Board / Re: Hardware Only?

I wouldn't think we'd need the software mode anymore, unless for some reason onboard graphics chipsets couldn't handle hardware mode.  However video cards are pretty cheap.

If you have 4 days to wait, you can go to spywareinfo forums and post a Hijackthis log and they'll guide you through removal.  They do a real good job, but have a 4 day waiting time.

Tried online antivirus scans like kaspersky, trend micro, etc?
Tried using Hijackthis to kill the offending startup entries?
Superantispyware(very hoggy on resources now..) and Malwarebytes Anti-malware are good tools.

Don't suppose you have just tried uninstalling it via add/remove or its uninstall exe if it has one?
Is there any loss of function to the computer or just an annoying popup?

I don't read them.

Well I would use sonic wave to push walkers into the water sometimes when defending the AAN base..  Also Maulers would come underwater on Counterattack if you left that base operational long enough.

Pretty sure they have been ok underwater since 1.2, or maybe 1.0...

So far, the setup here with my 3 other roommates actually went rather smoothly, we have everything but TV, Internet, and a home phone line (but we all use our cells anyway, so we won't get the latter any time soon).

Yay!  no distractions, Every instructor's dream!

Put bzone.exe back in its original folder if its not already there.(Battlezone 2 folder)
right click bzone.exe

scroll to send to

select desktop(create shortcut)

Done!

At least on XP,  may be different on windows 7, in which case I'm of little use.

Main thing is you want to create a shortcut,  do NOT move/copy bzone.exe, leave it in its home folder.

Hrm, the only difference I see is that the OP has Home, and you have Pro.  I didn't think any version of x64 7 worked for 16bit, but maybe I'm wrong?

As has been said by above posters, you "should" have problems installing BZ2 on vista 64 or 7 64, as microsoft stripped out the 16bit subsystem if I recall.  This means the installer for BZ2 which is written for 16bit, will not run,  however the game... which is written in 32bit, should run fine.  Windows still has compatibility with 32bit in its 64bit Operating systems.... else they'd have a real issue getting anyone to buy them.

To solve that, you usually need to install BZ2 on another 32bit computer, then copy the entire directory(since BZ2 doesn't really put anything in the registry or make a registry footprint, it can be copied from computer to computer and doesn't actually have to be reinstalled like some programs) to the new computer.

Also, Vista and 7 don't come with directx 9 installed that I know of, and as posted above, you need to reinstall Directx 9 on these so you'll have 10 and 9.  10 will not run most older games that use 9, especially if it calls for that certain dll file..... which a lot of games seem to do.  I've heard reports of other games running on DX10 with that single file copied over, but there's really no point in not just installing DX9 since it can work together with DX10 and not cause any issue.

Just thought you might could use some elaboration on the details, since most of what I posted has already been said in a smaller format.

Corsair

?

Thermaltake has some good ones as well, but they also have some fail ones...
It depends on what kind of system you are putting on this supply.  Smaller systems can run on almost no power at all hardly and even a cheap one may hold up well enough to not die for a long long time.  It doesn't mean its doing a good job, it just means its really easy to power that system.  This is especially true when you cross the threshold from medium/light gamer video card into the enthusiast/extreme gamer video card.

I remember a review site getting an no-name PSU that was 500W I believe.  They hooked it up to their test rig which they had been measuring the draws.  They had a variety of test wattage draws...  something like 150W, 220W, 310W, 390W, 450W, etc...  If memory serves, the 500W powered up the 150W system, then refused to power on the 220W, and died completely when it was asked to put up 310W.  They had a replacement unit sent,   150W good, 220W fail start,  310W fail dead.
The numbers are probably different, as it was quite a while ago, but I remember it failing at half its branded load.

I like it so far.  You put even more polish on the units it seems, or perhaps its just my eyes.  Noticed a decapitated soldier in the ruins of the a building in mission #2  A simple S & R that I had never seen before.  Not sure if that is new or merely I never saw it before.   Scavenger still got stuck on the wall in the mission where you first get to use the bomber.  So far it looks fine, and more polished than TA5, although TA5 was quite good.  I'm only up to "get help" at the moment though.

Battlezone 2 / Re: Favorite mission

The final scion mission also has Braddock getting reinforcements from a base that's off-map.  His base gets refilled to 2 sabres anytime they are destroyed and an attack force comes from off-map occasionally.  That's in addition to his base's forces(which become rather weak once you take all 3 pools).

I liked most of the BZ2 missions, it's hard to narrow it down to 1.

1.3 Public Beta 5: Tech Alpha 5 / Re: factory
September 01, 2009, 10:49:26 AM
Previously your factory(as well as most other buildings) would be constructed facing you.  That is to say, whatever direction the rear of your tank was pointed at, became the exit of the building.  If you wanted a west exit on your factory, you faced east when you constructed it.

With TA5, the exit is not dynamic to your tank's position anymore and is fixed when you select the building to construct, however you can rotate the building any which way you want to.   I tried this on a few missions and found that usually the factory does face opposite the recycler's exit, but not always, and it has changed on me in the same mission.   I started to build a factory and it was facing opposite the recycler by default... then I got an enemy attack and went to deal with it,  and when I came back, the factory always faced the same as the recycler.

However with the ease of rotating the building via the tilda key, it doesn't seem too much of a hassle to me, but I don't have a great deal of online play experience.  There is also the issue of the tilda key not working for some.

Fury tanks must have utilized less resources, especially where the "flight drive" is involved. The flying furies also have a 200 forward velocity, which must have also taken much scrap to achieve.

I think a better question is: how did a bunch of flying ships with no arms or legs build a rocket to escape into space?

Granted it may be my newbie-ness when it comes to editing odfs, but.. I've put some custom tanks in, and gave them very high velocities.  Still, nothing I can make so far is able to keep up with a flying fury when it wants to get across the map in a hurry.  Even with 400 or 500 velocity, they toast me easily.
