BZ2 Patch 1.3 Public Beta 4 (http://bzscrap.com/downloads/Patches/Public1.3/BZ2_v13PublicBeta4_english.exe) <== Download Mirror

The major improvements of pb4, compared to 1.3pb3 are:
- More features, including weapon linking, thumpers, and variable gravity DM maps
- Increased Windows Vista compatability, audio works in WINE
- Many more modder features, such as 60-char ODF names, inheritance, tons of new tuning values, etc
- Performance optimizations
- Fewer resyncs, units (human & AI) should warp less online
- Ability to replace CD music w/ OGG files
- More crash fixes
- Easier to host games w/ automatic UPNP, Windows Firewall support(*)

*: requires router w/ UPNP support, and Windows Firewall as your primary firewall; other firewall software/hardware will still need some manual attention

Note: There are a number of mods updated for pb4 or developed specifically for pb4. I've asked those modders to hold off on releasing them for 1 week so that people can enjoy all of the new items that pb4 has to offer. There's a ton of new options, recycler variants and new maps available out of the box.

Take note that BZScrap has a copy of the files as well, although you may want to read the page above as well.

Something people need to be aware of is the additions made to Gameprefs.ini - the contents of which you should first copy into Localprefs_bzone.ini and LocalPrefs_bz2edit.ini and then modify to fit  your rig's capabilities.

Also, you'll need to edit render.cfg and render_editor.cfg to suit your rig.

Both me and Spawn had our ships blow up for no apparent reason in mpi.  I believe the ai's scav cleanup code killed our ships since nothing shot us.

hes probably made a different bug for everybody on this forum

nielk1: AV when he puts in any unit with 'fire' in its name: eg, ivfireblade

me: A big slug falls out out of the sky and squashes the entire map flat, destroying everything with a dabomb explosion

gbd: a giant dragon does the same thing

avatar: if he tries to use any stock unit while testing BZC, the sky turns red and thousands of black balloons fly out of a newly formed volcano in the centre of the map

Not believe, IS.  :-D. Btw, this version actually sets up /nodxt for crappy cards  automatically (you can thank me for having the crappiest comp on the beta team atm we put it in.)

All you people with multi-core will be pleased to know that you can set the priority and affinity for the Main, Network, and Ogg threads in Localprefs_bzone.ini and LocalPrefs_bz2edit.ini. 

As always, copy all the settings from Gameprefs.ini into those files and edit them there.

I recommend copying only the params you've actually changed. Makes it much easier to tell what's up. That's why localprefs*.ini are blank by default.

Yes, it does, but I have more things to add, so please be patient.  After I release it to the BZ2 FE minions, you may wish I had not, especially when using the Hard/High settings.   :evil: :evil: :evil:

FE isn't fully compatible with PB4 yet, but you can try it.  It's compatible with PB3.

Also, i forgot to include the startup cfg, but I just posted that in the PB3 thread.

more+ better maps?? again.. NOOOO! you played zemod for pb3 yet? say the best maps are on 1.2 then...

more players yes, but most of them play 1.2 because of less bugs, not better gameplay. PB4 is FAR superior to 1.2, but theres not THAT many bugs
