Happened when I opened bzone.exe, I might have clicked it 3 times instead of 2.
After the AV, I couldn't run bzone.exe again, so I found it in task manager and killed the process. Bad move.
Computer started to run extremely lagged, taking 30sec+ to open start menu, or try to run a program. Fixed after a 5min start > log off.
Playing IA: Dropzone: fighting 2 sabres,killed them. Noticed the terrain looking like a grid layout (squares rather seamless terrain) then console puts out "DX Error noted.." ---- Battlezone II Log File ----

if you noticed 'grid like' terrain (usually small gaps betweenthe terrain tiles show this) it probably means youre having issues with .dxt textures. i turned them off in my render.cfg file and use the /nodxt commandline option which prevented this happening for me.
The AV doesn't seem DXT related though. Im not a callstack geniues, so GSH would be the only one to tell you what the AV's about.
Hmm DXT is the only way the EDF skins will work...but I'll try to replicate the error.

It may be that your laptop's graphics chipset doesn't support DX9. Do you run other games on it?

AHadley you had a seriously bad framerate in our test game yesterday (around 30 fps max getting down to 10 fps at times). Try updating drivers or something... or dont play it on a laptop :P
my laptop is relatively new and expensive and doesn't play BZ2 very well at all. my older desktop with a 7500 LE card plays better than my ATI HD2600 card... bit annoying.

AHadley- what's your graphics card, and is that repeatable? There's something that can cause the sky to die like that, but it's mainly happened only on intel cards. I'd like to get a repeatable case on other cards.

Yeah, I've got an Intel integrated chipset, an 82865G, and it hasn't repeated on me yet. I'll get back to the map as soon as I can though, see if it happens again.
would not having a player spawn point on a self made map make it AV in edit load up?
You should spawn in the center, though if you read the changelog the fix for that is shaky IIRC.
Yes, it still works, I only add spawn points to my map at the very end.
my brother hosolon has come across an AV that is easily remanufactured. If you select more than fourteen (i think) units (say by selecting two groups) and then hit tilde to select an individual unit it AVs
in actuality i don't thinks its technically an access violation it looks more like some kind of "out of bounds" error.
when it happens it farts out three dialogs. one says Internal Exception - see battlezone.log for details
the second is a visual C++ runtime error dialog

I was host. Well I was killing a turret in MPI canyons. That's about all I can say. Star_fox had just died 10 seconds before the crash.
