I'm bored so let's talk music.
Favorite bands anyone?
I'll start:
Muse
The Killers
Explosions in the Sky
Sigur Rós
Eluvium
m83
that's pretty much my top 6.
My favorite music is so weird in its collection of varying sources I cannot list anything from memory. I mostly have to wait for my HDD data to get restored. But I can say now I have some complex mix of American, Japanese, some other countries, and soundtracks on all around here. I think I found a Spanish song on my MP3 player yesterday and I still love that song "Cheeseburger, I hold" just for the strangeness of it.
I might come back here some time with an actual list.
Anyone seen the latest Rammstein video... if not, dont. It will scar you... Wierd bunch...
I have some of the most varied music tastes around. I assure you that if I put a list up of all the music I like it would take you until the end of eternity to read through it. And even then you wouldn't know who/what half of it is.
I wouldn't quite go so far as to say that it's as varied as NK1's tastes though
When I play my guitar I usually play along with 70's and 80's rock, like Scorpians, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath, Ted Nugent, Triumph, Aldo Nova, Lynyrd Skynyrd.
When I just listen to music I like Yngwie Malmsteen, Godsmack, 30 Seconds to Mars, The Lost Prophets, Alter Bridge, Megadeth, Avenged Sevenfold, Pantera, Ac/Dc, Drowning Pool, Shine Down

Its the name of a march. I like it because it sounds so exciting but evil .

I'm not young anymore :-( music no longer seems to be very important to me, but if out of everything I have ever heard only one band really stands out as a lasting favourite.
Van Der Graaf Generator.
It would be best if I just rattle out the genres, rather than specific bands/artistes:
Alternative/Progressive/Electronic Rock,
1960s-1980s Pop/Rock,
Top40/Billboard,
Jazz,
Electronica (or electronic music in general),
Tracker (C64, Amiga, PC),
SID Tunes,
New Age (which can be electronic but not all),
Western Classical/Baroque/Romantic (also some Eastern influences)
Some favorite electronic (and otherwise) composers include Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou (Vangelis), Jean Michel Jarre, Maurice Jarre, Mars Lasar, Kraftwerk, Yanni (yes, that guy, heh), Jan Hammer, Herbie Hancock, WA Mozart, JS Bach, Johann Pachelbel, John Williams, JP Sousa, Danny Elfman, Jonne Valtonen (Purple Motion of Future Crew), Gustaf Grefberg (Lizardking), Sonic Mayhem and so on and so forth.
M2S, you dont have to be young to appreciatte music y'know. But, some people are just not that psyched or affected by it i guess.

Psh... You're not a real metalhead unless you get some screaming in there.
Children of Bodom
Burzum

Children of Bodom
Legend. I was obsessed with this band for ages when i first got into metal...

Children of Bodom
Burzum
By metal i mean the classics and not death metal maniacs screaming words you can't understand.
I'm not saying that I love screaming -- in fact I generally dislike it -- but screaming has become so integral to metal that to be a "metalhead" requires at least an appreciation of screaming.
That said,
Tyr
Apocalyptica
Deep Purple
ever hear the number of the beast?
616.
My favourite band is lamb of god at the moment. ANY metalhead should have at least all of their albums!
I was under the impression it was 666.
i think he it the wrong key.
How could you hit the wrong key typing 666?
i don't know, maybe he just did and it will become one of the great mysteries of all time.
Perhaps he is wearing a ring on his index finger and his '1' key suddenly had a huge magnetic surge.

View the Favorites section for a preview of the stuff I listen to regularly.
I listen to most everything (except modern rap, hate it), but the stuff on my Favorites list are the ones I like most at the moment.
No, it is actually 616. 666 was a mistranslation from the Book of Revelations. It's only been discovered recently, and the few people who do know about it can't do that much to change it since so few people accept it. 666 just sounds better.

ROFL...
666 makes more sense...
It does, but it's still a mistranslation.
Who says the fragments they found weren't apocrypha?
Quote616 ("six hundred and sixteen", or "six hundred sixteen" in American English) is believed by some Christians to have been the original Number of the Beast in the Book of Revelation in the Christian Bible. Different early versions of the Book of Revelation gave different numbers, and 666 had been widely accepted as the original number. In 2005, however, a fragment of papyrus 115 was revealed, containing the earliest known version of that part of the Book of Revelation discussing the Number of the Beast. It gave the number as 616, suggesting that this may have been the original.
666 is believed to have been code for the Emperor Nero.
Let's get back on topic before another mod notices...
I'm not trying to force anything but these are all speculations and mostly indefinite. "We Now Know" is a favorite phrase of scientists.
Speaking of scientists, anyone like coldplay?
Because I don't.
I don't mind it. Personally i think it sounds like a million other bands.

I like Rush of Blood to the Head. Good album.
I used to be really into them but lately I've kind of shifted music tastes.
Oh, one band I just recently discovered is Angels & Airwaves. Really good, if you like stadium rock.

^my last.fm profile, you can now track what I listen to, lol.
I have a good joke about Coldplay.
Me: "Did you know Coldplay released an album of children's lullabies? It's called 'A Rush of Blood to the Head.'"
My friends: -_-
Anyway... I do quite enjoy me some Philip Glass, particularly Music in Twelve Parts. You simply must listen to it if you seek to find beauty expressed in music.
There is i think... one strange child in my entire college that likes coldplay . I just find them so depressing to listen too... i can't get into it.
Anyone seen this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5R8gSgedh4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5R8gSgedh4)
I have a friend who has recently grown a sudden like for coldplay... which is unusual considering he is more the indie/rock/metal type. Broad, but still. Not coldplay.
I particularly like Muse. Matt Bellamy is a pretty amazing musician. I've also discovered the metal band Sonic Mayhem, who are pretty good... and Jamsh, have a look about for a band called InMe.
Muse is a great band.
I also want to get into Fugazzi some more.
Listening to Bitches Brew right now by Miles Davis. Quite the awesome.
