Paranormal Activity (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1179904/) is a movie that just came out in theaters (even though it's a 2007 movie) and is said to be the scariest movie since "The Exorcist", possibly of all time. Some people said it was dumb and not scary at all. Others say it was absolutely horrifying.
I haven't seen it yet, and I'm debating whether I want to take the time to go see it or not. The trailers are just creepy.
Have you seen it? Is it worth my time to go see it? If you haven't seen it, are you planning on it or are you interested?
You want scary?
Watch Wolf Creek.
Probably would affect me more than you guys though...
Psh. You want scary?
Watch Teeth. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teeth_(film)
HAHAHA... Teeth is not scary. I went to see it with my missus, and we were alone. I thought i was going to be well shat up, but i just laughed and said id always 'test the water' first.
Wolf Creek is about some totally mad aussie character... so yeh probably would effect you more BBB :P. That one didnt scare me, just wierded me out.

Who the hell comes up with these movies!? Honestly it seems each year that horor movie plots get dumber and dumber!
It took me about 6 months to finish watching The Grudge, a little at a time.
I've only ever seen two 'horror' movies - The Unborn and... damn it, I can't remember the other one. But I know both made me laugh.
Teeth is scary. It scares me anyway. It is scary. What could be more scary than a vagina with teeth that bites off guys's penises? That about hits the nail on the coffin for me.
lmao... yeh it is kinda worrying. Grudge 2 scared the hell out of me... when they play a prank on that girl and she gets locked in the wardrobe... yikes. Never watched the first one, and dont want to :P.
I went to see 'The Eye' in the cinema. That was pretty damn scary too. Things like 'The Ring' etc, all horrible to watch. Very entertaining though.
I'm yet to find a film that scares one of my friends... need to do so.

It'd be fairly obvious though. Like Jamsh said, always test the water first

But it wasn't obvious in the movie! They only appeared when she was scared/frightened/uncomfortable. Remember, she successfully made coitus with that one dude, then she found out that he had a bet with his friend, and whambamstealthevan there goes his manhood.
lol. its not scary, just... a bit overly gory...

that you watch it and find it terrifying, i simply find it to be a way to scare people with blood and guts using sex to get them hooked, but that's in my opinion
I understand that it's not meant to be a horror -- that almost makes it more scary.
Have you ever seen real ghost in your life? I have seen it about 3 times. Two ghosts of dog and My mother's father. One of my dogs name was missy, she died at age 16 in 2007.She slept with me on my bed, follow me everywhere. She looked at me like stare.I knew it she miss me alot.Other dog name was gertie, she died at age of 12 in 2005.I was on my bed and watch the tv with missy. She came out of nowhere and her right paw raised up and look at me.She tell me that she was disappoint and sad.She walked up to me and sit on floor next to my bed.Other time go by,She lay down upstair cuz i just feel her very warm on floor.I touched it on floor and suprise me she is here.I cant feel or see cuz its daylight. My mother's father name was ellwood, he died of age 80 in 1985 or 1986.I was in shower.I turned my head to right slowly and shocked myself. He walked up to shower stall.I could see him in mist through shower curtain.I quick grabbed the curtain and pull away.I looked around it no one there.Last see him was recently back summer of 2009.I have seen eyes of ghosts.Their eyes are like fixed owl no blink or wink.Im telling you this ghosts are very real and sad soul.
Wow!!! Ghosts must be real after all because hybirdisdf (aka, bringer of truth) says so!!!
Aha, very subtle... *facepalm*
You already watched paranormal activity movie.I dont because i looked at trailer movie and im like ah bs.I could see 2 wide arms lay on bedsheet clearly. If you closer look at it you will see what i mean.It work of hoax.
It's a film, it's entertainment, it's made up... it's not supposed to be real!
Paranorma Activity looks so fake in the trailer I don't want to see it. Se "Drag Me to Hell" instead. It's scary and funny too. Great movie.
I believe less than 2% or under 50 thousand people actually saw a real ghost and poltergeist. The ghost and poltergesit are very rare sighting.
Yeah... so rare in fact, that nobody has EVER seen one at all.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1179904/
I have actually seen the ghost of my past dog once when late at night when i looked into my hallway from the computer, only for a split second, then gone, but i know it was my old dog.
Key words in that sentece, late at night and computer... retina patterns on tired eyes and an imagination methinks.
Hit the nail on the head, methinks, TJ.
it may have been but i still remain firm in my belief, besides, why would i imagine the shadowy white figure of a German Shepard?
Hallucation!
Quoteit may have been but i still remain firm in my belief, besides, why would i imagine the shadowy white figure of a German Shepard?
It is a very common mistake people make, thinking that what they see is real, all perception is a construct of the brain, grass is not green, brains make it green. It is very easy for brains to be tricked or trick themselves, your eyeballs input data, your brain is left to decided what it means, an unclear shadowy-white data input triggers a fast search for a corresponding known object, your Dog was first on the list, shock! he's dead! your spooked, and your dog has gone as further data corrects your brains world construct.
The brain is incredibly good at filling in gaps in the data input, I developed myopia several years ago, it took years for me to notice it. It is only once you start regularly misidentifying people or things that the problem becomes apparent.
I'm willing to let him believe it. There's no reason ghosts shouldn't exist.
Just physics and biochemistry. :-D

"It's in His plan" is a favorite phrase of religious people.
What does that have to do with anything?
You keep throwing around that '"We now know" is a favorite phrase of scientists.' bullhoot, so I'm going to start doing the same.
And to be fair, we don't even know there is a He. There is no proof of God, whereas everything we know goes against his existence.

OK, give me an inductive proof they exist.
I hate proofs...
After watching the Matrix, who knows if We even exist. This could all be the best running video game of all time, with our consciousness downloaded into it to test our abilities and the winners get a real body in the Real reality.
I like the Black Sabbath song on the Dehumanizer album where they tear the walls of Heaven down and find a giant computer running everything. lol
But if you are a Christian then you have to believe in the Holy Spirit, which would successfully prove there are ghosts (to Christians).
So that is why the world gets lag whenever I drive down the highway! Too many cars without LODs!!

LOL!!
Stay away from any groups of cars with a crown symbol on them.
QuoteAnd to be fair, we don't even know there is a He. There is no proof of God, whereas everything we know goes against his existence.
Well just think about it Ahadley, how is it that the universe itself came into being? The Big Bang, what set off the Big Bang, we don't know, how could there have nothing and then something if something were not already there to make the something? I'm not trying to force on anyone that there is a God, but to consider that everything around you happened by some unknown scientific phenomenon is to hard to explain, then just think that maybe, there just may be some divine presence out there that perhaps we could never even begin to understand but that is responsible for everything that has occurred since "Bang".
Words to live by from my standards
Please don't start this ridiculous debate yet again...
It's already been done.
Quote from: AHadley on October 28, 2009, 07:04:19 PMeverything we know goes against his existence.
Not true. We certainly know at least one thing that is silent on the existence of God.
Don't rate the big bang theory much myself, the current "inflation" addon theory looks too much like making new number fit an old theory, because they were not brave or smart enough to throw it away and come up with a new one.
Lets face it, the Universe
MUST be infinite, and anything that is infinite does not have a start or an end...
Maybe the question, how did it all start? is just a dumb question.
QuoteWho says they don't obey the laws of physics?
Obeying the laws of physics/chemistry/biology, would mean that the energy/matter that made up a being, would cease to form a coherent pattern after death and therefore cease to resemble or represent the "spirit" of the individual it once was.
I would accept an argument to the contrary if someone can explain how it can happen, nobody has yet.
QuoteThis could all be the best running video game of all time,
It is, it is being run in the Most complex of all operating systems, Matter. The purpose of the game is simply to observe it running, so that it knows that it is. Unfortunately the winners just get the same prize as the losers :) There are persistent rumours of a mythical "Game Over" realm. But I can't imagine what anyone would think they could do there, ah, oh yes that's it! NOTHING, lots and lots of NOTHING whatsoever at all for never and never again.
Oh and here's a link to the latest book by Iain M Banks called
Matter Its marvelous!

By the way, if religion derails this topic, I will lock it. Let's get back on the subject of Paranormal Activity.
Don't be mean, the subjects are unavoidably linked. If you don't like the discussion don't read it.
I downloaded a video last night and was watching it on my computer and something started climbing out of the monitor, so i turned it off. :-o

The problem isn't that I don't like it. The problem is that religion threads invariably start flame wars, which we don't need. And this thread is about Paranormal Activity, not religion, hence why I said that I would lock the topic if religion
derailed the topic.

Aha.
I'll take that into account next time.

then i would take it it would be unwise to start a thread on religion.
I would participate in a non-flaming manner.
You could make a heavily supervised no-flaming-or-you'll-die thread.
We've had religion threads here. Take a look at them.
