Is there any real discussion to be had here?
Just waiting for sum1 to say yes.
Until sum1 says yes. I'm sure there's sum1 on this forum that has read them.
Nope.
And I'm sure you've personally asked every last person on the forum.

I've never heard of the damn things.
Best books I've ever read are George Orwell's 1984, Aldus Huxley's Brave New World, and Jack Henderson's Maximum Impact (Circumference of Darkness in the US)
Ender's Game = great book.

Would you believe george orwell was a convinced socialist?

First, how is one a "convinced socialist".
2nd, the very nature of books like 1984 dispute this.
So... Nope.
If you read Brave New World, it really is about a sociallist way of living, everyone gets the same as everything else and a select few hold the power. Love the book, the Iron Maiden album of the same name, and the title track to said album!
No, but it looks interesting
Um....Nope.
I read allot of books, I prefer scifi, but occasionally read fantasy but allot of it is just so- Evil necromancer/wizard/whatever spooky one dimensional bad guy and his ugly hoard take over the world(s) vs the good guy/girl/dwarf/otter...That I try to limit my exposure to it.
My favourite author of the moment is Iain M Banks, If you like scifi and have not read any of his books, then you have missed a major treat. Scifi of such quality is rare.
i highly recommend the works of H.P Lovecraft, [Bear in mind he wrote at the turn of the 20th century] He wrote excellent Horror and Science fiction. I recommend the Call of Cthulu [yay!, Cthulu] and the Shadow over Innsmouth.
Alas, SciFi does not age well... :-D
You would be surprised....
Asimov ftw.

Um this isn't one dimensional at all. And No otter's to speak of.
Ftw.. I do wish people would not use abreviation's that I have to google and then still don't understand.
For The Win
It used to mean 'F**k the world'.

How can you say that? Look how long Doctor who has been going.
Asimov has aged well.
Ftw = "for the win" (best in this contest) or "*Ammo* the what."

They went and modernised it.
It also hasn't gone on CONTINUOUSLY.
Technically died in 1997 and didn't get revived till 2005.
still went on for a long time though.
Dr Who is fairly unique, a genius "made for TV" concept, But it does suffer from a lack of continuity that is frequently explained away in show with quick one line explanations.
Asimov has aged well, yes. But many others from the 50's/60's have not, its not their fault, who would have guessed that the manned exploration of space would degenerate into just trying to sell you yet another mobile phone and the occasional paranoid attempt to build space based defence platforms aimed at ourselves...
Lets hope this guy got the future wrong too :-D
