I remember seeing a post about this and wanted to say that I was able witness it myself. Turned on my local radar and finally saw a pilot of mine stuck up on the Bomber Bay which was causing it. Shot him for dereliction of duty and it went back to late game AI.
ey?
HAHAHaha  that just cracks me up. But may I ask, what is Siege Mode for 1.3?
I have also noticed many enemy pilots getting trapped in my base since they are trying to jump up a an 80 degree hill. (Causes a fair bit of loss in fps with all those pilots jumping into the hill)
So I just give them a painless nudge with my tank, and let the GTs/GSs turn them into little blobs.
The siege mode Red is talking about is in the AIP. The CPU team will switch to a different AIP if you (or one of your not-so-bright pilots) spend too much time within a certain distance of the Recy in an effort to repel an attacking (or "siege") force.
Good find RD :)
How do you tell, in game, if you are stuck in that mode? Is there a distinct behavior of turrets or GTs that is noteable?
The best way to tell is to type game.debugaip in the console. In an ISDF v ISDF game it should say something like "stock13_lls.aip". The "s" just before the ".aip" is what you want to key in on. Without using the console, the best hint is if the CPU team has a Factory and a pool, it will continue to pump out Sabres (usually with sp-stab if it's gotten that far on tech tree). If you've got the CPU down to the Recy, it will make scouts to try and remove you if it has a pool.
And the CPU team goes into this mode when it has one of its own units, be it ship or pilot, within a certain range of your base for a certain amount of time?

It is an effort to remove
you from
their base.
That sounds like it is the human player's pilots/units that initiate the siege mode of the CPU team.
Right, The problem is, if one of your pilots gets stuck (like Red found), that the AI becomes unwavering in it's attempt and forgets to attack your base or pools ruining the game because you can just go around and get all the pools and wipe out the CPU without a fight.
Ok, I see where I was confused. It is the CPU team that is DEFENDING against and apparent seige. I thought it was the CPU team INITIATING a seige against the human team.... Now I get it.
by the way, what causes the Assault AIP to kick in? And is it hardcoded?
Its done by the dll, and it is linked to you building something as I recall, don't remember what exactly...
I remember in g66 noticing that, at least on a couple of maps, the first enemy assault was linked to building a factory.
Yeah that is what it is... I think... [/quote]
Zero

Building 3 Assault units causes the Assault AIP to kick in on stock dll
Cheers
Thought it was just one. Anyways, good way to gain an advantage in MPI: Don't approach the enemy base until you are ready and don't build assault units until you have your defenses up. That way, the attackers are converted into scrap at your doorstep where your scavs' reserve tanks can keep it before it evaporates and use it to build your assault units, whatevers.
