:o
Well, unfortunately I found another bug with 1.3
not to say that 1.3 still doesn't rock!
But:
for some reason I can't join games with 1.3?
I do have a router and a firewall that I can't seem to turn off, but due to the fact that using the 1.2 patch (with a different BZ2 directory) allows me to join games, I would think this problem has more to do with 1.3. Is it maybe the whole 'Join IP' thing that is messing me up?
I have an SMC Router...
this problem probably needs to be addressed.
Thanks,
Wingflier
(By the way, I can successfully host games in 1.3, just not join them)
Do you see a (V) under the PWD column for the games you are trying to join? You are probably trying to join sessions using a newer version of 1.3 or you are trying to join a 1.2 session or a session using something earlier. The (V) indicates version, the (P) indicates password, and the (X) indicates the session has been locked.
there was no need to start this topic twice...
Yes, I agree I am sorry for starting this topic twice.
However, it was only after I tried joining a game using 1.2 that I figured out that it was more of a problem with the patch I had than with the game itself.....
Sorry about that forum leaders : (
: )
god, ur just a day here already pissing ppl off
What's with all the hostility Phoenix? Is there a problem?
Oh well...
Anyways, thanks for the suggestions guys...the problem was the fact that I had downloaded 1.3 but I hadn't moved the upgrade (1.1) to my folder, in fact I had totally forgotten about it.
So I was running 1.3 v1.0 and everybody else was runnign 1.3 v1.1.
Anyways, I know I just wasted like 30 seconds of your life.
Thanks again,
Adam
1.3 doesnt need you to apply any previoius upgrades, In fact, it doesnt matter whether you did or not
People upgrading to from 1.0 will have the exact same experience as people upgrading from 1.2.
Hmm.
Sorry I guess I didn't explain it well enuf.
There are two versions of 1.3.
1.3v1.0(The exe file)
and 1.3v1.1(A zip file with corrections to some of the problems with the original 1.3 patch)
I was using the first version of 1.3, everybody else was using the latter version...that's why I couldn't join anybody's games...
Sorry for the misunderstanding
Thanks for the help

I see 1 link for MP Dll's, 1 for the patch itself and a checksum.
Hmm...
Isn't the Dll file a file that you are supposed to put into your folder after you install the 1.3 exe file?
I'm kind of confused...please explain
No. That D/L is source code for anyone that would like to make thier own DLL's or maps for MP. This is from the Read Me.
QuoteNotes on Battlezone 2 v1.3 Public Beta MP DLL Source code.
Disclaimer: this source code release is UNSUPPORTED by Activision,
Pandemic Studios, and the like. While it is a complete archive of an
functional multiplayer DLL source code and MS Visual C++ 6.x project,
it comes with no warranty, no official support, or anything else. Use
of other compilers may not be supported.
Included in this archive is a complete set of source code needed to
build Battlezone 2's Deathmatch, Instant Action, MPInstant, and
Strategy DLLs for version 1.3 public beta 1. Inside the
Missions/Deathmatch01 folder, there is a Deathmatch01.dsw project file
for MS Visual C++ (aka MSVC). Opening this project in that environment
will let you build up a DLL to the Debug/Missions folder off the root
of this archive. Similarly, the Missions/Strategy02 and
Missions/MPInstant folders contain source code for the other DLLs.
Please ensure that any DLLs you create do not have the same name
as an existing official DLL; inconsistent DLLs across various machines
will cause Bad Assets.
Comments on multiplayer programming: because BZ2 runs in a lockstep
fashion, every DLL running on all of the machines must behave
identically in terms of anything that affects gamestate. Thus, do not
do anything based on the local player, but if you're doing something,
loop over all players, e.g. a loop like
for(int CheckTeam=0;CheckTeam<MAX_TEAMS;CheckTeam++) {
Handle h=GetPlayerHandle(CheckTeam);
if(h) { // Player Exists...
// .. Do stuff here....
}
}
Only visual-only things like objectifying targets (see the
ExecuteRace() function) can be done not identically across platforms.
Everything you need to play v1.3 is in the 1 .exe labeled "bz2_v13PublicBeta1_english.exe". Just use this patch on a fresh install for best results.
Happy Hunting
thanks bzerker...I owe you one...
by the way...on accident I put that dll file in my BZ folder and I think I overwrote some stuff...it didn't seem to affect anything however...
explain that please..
Adam
When you unzipped the DLL source code, it should have created a folder called "BZ2_MPDlls_v13PublicBeta1". Almost everything in that folder has not yet been complied to create the actual DLL, hence no effect. It should be safe to delete or move the folder without a problem.
thanks
:)
