I got a new computer with a native resolution of 1680 by 1050... is there any way to play Battlezone 1 using a 16:10 widescreen resolution?
Not sure. I just ordered a 22 inch widescreen LCD,so I'll see. Maybe by specifying it on the command line with /resolution 1680 1050/
Or wait for BZC to come out
Speaking of wich...
Currently BZC supports locked shell res of 640X480, trying to change render.cfg to anything else would have very...confusing results.
In game, the escape menus look "correct" at 640X480, 800X600, 1024X768, and 1280X1024.
Does anyone have any resolutions that they *really* like to play with in game?
Also, what are the widescreen equivilents to these res's?
Oh, you asked if Battlezone 1 supported widescreen. Sorry, dunno.
my god.. i just realised that i havent played bz1 since i got a widescreen, that was at christmas - damn its been 5 months!!!!

Check with dx to see if his updated version of BZ1 supports more modern resolutions?
-Av-
i like to play 32 bit 1024 x 760 (i think thats the right values). 16 bit gives horrible effetcs :P
my screen has a larger native resolution but it looks very strange in anything widescreen. it just streches across doesnt make youre viewplane wider
My guess is that both BZ1 (and BZ2) does not support any anamorphic screen ratios, unless DX or whomever has done some possible tweaking to the video code. The best chances would be just increasing 4:3 resolutions (going higher than 1024x768, etc), or just 'stretching' the 4:3 to anamorphic by bypassing fixed aspect ratio. Which means you're not gonna get any extra 'cockpit' visual on the sides (wider and true FOV) if that's what you're looking for in the first place when you mean widescreen resolution.
BZ2 does do widescreen in-game, and has for a while. I almost always play in Widescreen mode. The shell doesn't like it, though, and I never leave the cockpit on anyway.
May I recommend taking this to a different site, though? Perhaps one where they focus more on the game in question?
battlezone universe no longer focuses on battlezone?
Not in its current dwindling state.
that is so confusingly confusing
indeed
Easy to explain.
Battlezone Universe stood for all BZs and still does, but the fact is the BZ2ers outweigh the BZ1ers 10 fold, maybe more. (and I'm talking about dedicated BZ1ers, not those who play both equally.)
Alot of them have migrated or showed up at:
www.battlezoneclub.org/forum
Which is where you'll find Dx. :)
I;m trying to make a site for all battlezone, but it is coming along slowly.
Man...Oh...Man...
Just got my new Samsung 22 inch widescreen, hooked it up to my new HD 3650 using the DVI, and fired up BZ2.
I set the res in-game to 1680x1050 (BZ2 auto-determines your adapter's resolutions) and full graphics
:-o :-o :-o :-o :-o :-o
The clarity, color, contrast, detail are amazing.
I can snipe a Mire Sand Flea off of Commando's ear at 900 meters now.
DX, if there is some call that sets the aspect ratio then that is what needs to be changed. DirectX and OpenGL have a single simple call for that, it is usually just the height divided by the width (or was it the other way...), that would fix the stretching.

HAHA :) maybe ill hook my PC up to my HDTV screen upstairs. could be a laugh if nothing else :D
If I had the code I could say how easy/hard it would be to do.
