Title: How do i get my model into BZII compatible format in blender 3D?
Post by: TheJamsh on July 06, 2008, 04:03:55 PM
of course the most obvious answer is 'download OM's XI exporter' which i have and am using...

if anyone uses blender... i would much appreciate them to edit the very simple dice model i have below and just turn it into a BZII compatible .blend file ready for exporting with the exporter.

if you can make notes on any changes you made then i can study them and see what other things i need to do. i can model in it very basically just by moving points around. im sure il get the hang of it eventually. i just need to know how to arrange, name and apply things as you can see.

here is the .blend file and a simple quick .png texture i made for it. >>http://www.mediafire.com/?yn7ktx1yytc<<

ANY help you cna give me would be great =]

Since no one ever used my exporter I never had a chance to iron out the final issues (mostly animations).  As far as I know it exports fine though, just no animation or envelope support yet.  If you find issues with the output then please state so I can fix.  Either way, you should definitely learn B3D inside and out first (just like you would with any other modeling app like Softimage, 3dsMax, etc...).

aye... if someone can give me a BZII compatible model in blender format i can figure out the rest from there.

i can model ok... two days and i made my little snowman. blenders hardest feature is without doubt its interface but once you learn it you can see the benefits.

I've been away from here for quite a while now busy with other things but I have to say that I never was able to get that Blender BZ2 exporter to work for me. I never could get the textures to show up at all when I tried the model out in the editor. I know I'm not much help here but just thought I would throw my 2 cents in heh.

I just need testcases to be able to fix it.  Standard programming debugging after all :P

Understood but unfortunately I haven't worked on my mod much in quite a while. I started taking the time from making a mod for BZ2 to learning how to use the Torque game engine and make models and weapons and such for it. I thought if I could learn enough I could possibly make what I wanted anyways in Torque and perhaps learn something about making games in the process. I've still had the itch to come back though and start back up on my mod. I saw so many ideas forming as I learned more about modding for the game. Perhaps it will still happen heh. It's nice to see the community still going strong!

As long as there is even one other person left, I will always be around.

And I am sure there are others too.

I used OM's Blender exporter for a couple of simple objects and it worked very well. The only reason I never worked more on it is that I couldn't figure out the Blender interface and had more experience working with Milkshape 3d. :) So I used that exporter.
