Hi, I installed the new Pb 4 a few days ago and I experienced severe FPS problems: After some buildings (Recycler,factory, extractor) and 5-6 units the FPS drop down to 12 or below when I look into their direction. The problme is, that I hadn´t these problems with the previous version Pb3 , where I never got such graphic problems. As I´ve read in the changelog that the graphics have been improved I adjusted my graphic options to a lower level, where I set Sky Details on Low level, particle effects also to low, antiso to zero and deactivated ECBM, but I didnt´t fixed the problem since it´s higly disturbing when you´re in a multiplayergame now. My system spec: AMD 4600+ Dual Core, 2GB Dual Ram, Geforce 7600GT. I truly hope someone can help me to get back to the graphic performance of Pb3.
roll back your video drivers to an earlier version, that seems to help out a lot to people experiencing graphics problems.
I had this problem too when playing a game on MPI:Ground Zero on PB4 (though i'm not sure if its specific to the map). I barely had any units at base, yet when I looked towards my own base (and this includes in an angle where the enemy base is behind me), my FPS dropped to slideshow levels before the game locked up, forcing me to hard reset my computer. I wasnt sure if this was a problem with WINE or not, but from previous experience it would only slideshow when the AI is doing severe overbuilding (ie: scavs), and I just happen to be looking at the location where the overbuild is extremely high. -- Not simply looking my own (relatively empty of units, but well built) base.
Oddly enough, I dont get any major FPS drops...but yet...I cannot find anything that works to fix this damned skydome error! Figures...
If you have an Nvidia card and you have a fairly recent driver, you must set sky detail to NONE. Not Low, Not HIGH, to NONE. Otherwise your performance will eventually crap out and all textures will disappear. This is Nvidia's fault and not BZ2's.
Is there no other option than installing a recent driver, since I got other games i use to play :cry:

@commando&feared: he's not having the skydome error, he's having major FPS drops. And plus, LOW sky works well enough (except on two maps, and I think they're both USMC maps)
@helo: Dont install a recent driver, roll back to an older one.
I posted this problem in the Nvidia forums in order to achieve better support for directx 6, and especially for Bz 2. Here´s the link so that anybody can complain too :wink: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=72053
Steevo, when my textures fail, my fps drops dramatically to a value less than 10. If I leave sky details on high, I get fps dropping too which eventually leads to the texture issue.

He said he tried that in the first post and it didnt help.
And stop spelling my name wrong :P
Yeah, he said in the chatroom that he tried it and it didn't help.
I'm having him try the following.
MainThreadAffinityMask = 1
NetworkThreadAffinityMask = 1
OggDecodeThreadAffinityMask = 1
Not sure if it will help him or not. If not, I'll have him try /nodxt.
I know the sky detail will my my fps suck before causing the game to die completely which is why I suspected it.
Helo said /nodxt helped out a lot. Not sure why considering he has a recent video card.
Unfortunately in one game the FPS didn´t drop below 40 ( mass of objects where placed in the game) whereas in another game the FPS were at 9 while facing a scion recycler and 2 units.
