I was playing on Instant testing every map, when I decided to try and deploy a scavenger myself, so I got into the scavenger, went to a pool, pressed C, then it started to deploy, then nothing, I couldn't move, jump out, eject, or even be destroyed, the only thing I could do was load a saved game or abort the mission.
This is on stock PB4 with no mods, and not that it matters, it was on the map 'chill'.
Feel free to try it... at your own risk.
Back from the dead, RR :-D
as far as i was aware, the player was never able to deploy scavs or pick up scrap in a scavenger, only the AI could do it...
could i be wrong???
Very. I used to tell thugs that were delivering more scrap to the enemy than damage they were causing to get into a scav and take a sensible route to an empty pool, grabbing scrap along the way if possible.
Something tells me that I was once one of those thugs. :D
I still camp out in a scav to this day..... very fun when you face people who dont know about driving scavs.. "HOLY CRAP, his scavs are smarter than ours.... Hacker!!!!"
wtf?
yes u could always drive a scav...
I ran into that issue and was unable to reproduce it for GSH. Do you have that savegame Russian? If so, can you upload it somewhere or email it to me at wdpowellok1{AT}cox.net
:O! how do you pick up the scrap???!!
oh my thats just made my day... why is the instruction manual for BZII so crap?!
even the weapon hardpoints aint listed properly. you can tell it was never revised...
I think you use your deploy key to pick up scrap as well as deploy on pools.
yeah, that's the one main thing thAt sucks about piloting a scav. If you press c to pick up one piece of scrap then you drive over a pool, the scab deploys automatically due to you pressing c earlier.

I thought that only happened if you accidently missed the scrap piece and that "C" press sort of floated away but kept watching. Either way, it's annoying.
Thats very strange, it used to be, for me at least, in PB3, that I could get into a scav, not press the C key at all and deploy the thing on a pool just by driving over it though.
Maybe I bumped the C key near it I dunno.
I remember scavs always auto-deploying if you are inside it when you go over a pool, without pressing anything.

I had that happen if any of the times I'd pressed C it did not scoop up some loose, like the C was pressed and waiting for a moment to pounce.
Did you run into this bug in multiplayer or single player?
I ran into it in multiplayer and it completely screwed up the game even after I quit then rejoined. According to the host, I was still in the stuck scav when I reentered the game.
I also couldn't order any of my units to pick me up because the game thought I was still in the stuck deploying scav.

Maybe the AI Scavenger pilot (the drunk one) missed a piece of scrap before you got in?
Commando I think that bug is when you automatically hop out of the Scavenger you deployed and hop back in before it turns into a building. It's a big no-no in 1.1 and 1.2 (gives AV).

POUNCE! THAT'S what I was trying to say earlier (instead of floated away) :)
I've lately had issues with scavs spawned on cliffs or higher places floating back to their spawn point when they try to use a pool. Still haven't gotten a repo case... Reordering the scav stops it, also multiworld might self correct the bug.
To answer your first question commando I don't have that saved game anymore, but I will try to reproduce it and save it, on your second question, it was on Instant, on the map Chill.
That lets me kn ow that it doesn't only occur i MP.

I've had this too, but in IA. I was playing Dunes and I had the recy up on the cliff overlooking the main base area, and I built a scav, and ordered it to deploy. It dropped down, got to the pool, then acted like it was going to deploy, but traveled back up the cliff to the recy. Did the same thing on both base pools.
VSMIT.
I got that too. That might be a perfect repo case.
The best thing is a sav file where GSH would load it and then order the only scav onto the pool right in front of him. This way he can see the execution of the command, the deploy, and everything else.
