Post by: TheJamsh on August 23, 2008, 09:49:58 PM
and ive just re-learnt the entire history of battlezone 1, 2, FE, and all the rest.

and my mod plan is in ruins. which im sort of pissed about.

votes that i should just go ahead and make it anyway and say "this is what would have happened if id got the status of things at the beginning and end of FE right?"

vote here

Jamsh thought that FE came after the ISDF tree of BZ2 and that the Cerberi where just another race he could ally with anyone.  :-P He knew nothing about the Nexus or escape of the Cerberi Mother God and Shultz.

he didnt know about Play_Scion did he?

no i didnt know about either. i was underthe impression that the play_isdf and the play_scion cheats unlocked ALL missions on different sides of the story. thats how it worked in standard BZII...

now ive found there about 10 missions i havent played.

my mod is still possible to get it the way i want it. in fact the beginning of FE makes bio-metal a publicly known substance, which helps me a lot.

but i need to revise my missions a lot, and my general story. my mod will still take place after FE. even if it is situated a long time afterwards.

There are an infinite number of parallel universe's....

Technically, there are an infinite number of planes of this same universe, where the 'plane' is our 3dspace+1dtime as it extends through more dimensions.  :)

There's a reality where Jamsh knows what he's doing and has already released his mod :D

If anyone is expecting my Mod to "fit in" with existing story's, then I'm afraid they will be disappointed.

see i wanted mine to fit in, the long and short of it was it was gunna fit in after the (what i thought was unfinished) FE, and this would happen:

the EDF are raging a war against the insanely out of control cerberi who are breeding like nothing else...

the Hadeans are still enemies of the EDF, and uneasily support the Cerberi

the Scions are still allied with the EDF, until they show up in full force at a battle, and the truth comes out. i.e. the Cerberi have secretly allied with the scion, and they are out to destroy the EDF and the Hadeans.

in light of this, the Hadean and the EDF come together to wipe out the cerberi and the scion. the cerberi further betray the scion but the scion have grown so powerful that the cerberi die out and become nothing but a mindless pack of savages, the Hadean's war fleet is destroyed by the scion and cerberi because after FE it was so badly damaged, and the EDF is not strong enough to cope, and is absorbed into the AAN special forces (basically a much more techy ISDF/EDF mix) and take out the scions the old fashioned way, between scion and human.

that was the overall plan. then NielK1 says it woudlnt work with the storyline. so what can i do? change the ending of FE at the beginning of my mod? i dunno...

I also told you you can redefine the history that occurs pre-game.

I've never finished FE, don't know the story. But if you've almost completed your mod, and you now know the story, this is the most opportune time to change the story line. Make it work somehow. The way you can recycle people makes it possible to ressurect anyone who's supposedly been killed anyway.

He doesn't actually have any assets yet, so he is better off then he thinks >.<

He just has plans and assets from other mods as examples.

i do have some completed assets, but like BBB i want to do as much of this mod as i can by myself, itll probably be the only one i do.

im playing through FE again and writing out a complete events thing as i go along. i might be able to sort some stuff out and make it continue from FE properly, but ill have to change a few things thats all.

i can of course change the events but id rather it fits in. and not all my ideas are from other mods, the majority are my own and im saving them for MUCH later on

If you want your mod to be considered 'factual' then you will have to adhere 100% to the Stock, FE, Fleshstorm storyline, just like I did.

Sadly, I lost interest on the FE SP missions after getting stuck on the one where you lead the engineers in to destroy the super gun thingy, and afterwards got frustrated that I didn't progress to the next mission. What's up with that level anyways? Did I miss blowing up something?  :?

I think the word BBB was after is 'canon', since this is fiction and there are no facts. (Or are there? :-o)

There's plenty of room in the BZ universe for many different biometal and human interactions...

Just don't go too crazy, making things too difficult to resolve...   :)

It seems like it's easier to design around non Scion assets cause like I don't get the morph model thingy. I guess it's based around vertex animation which seems pretty difficult to do without the right modeling application. Truespace, seems to support vertex animations though, but I have no clue how to apply it to BZII models.

I have learned a bit more about vertex animation and can map cubes I animate to vertexes I identify the number of via my 3D modeler.

Thanks to me...

And I have managed to make land animals, pilots and organic walkers so far that all work.

I wonder how BZII deals with vertex animation as isn't scaling a part of the process, yet I read that BZII doesn't read this information. So much to learn so little time to learn it all.

You can still do animated scaling if the animation manipulates the vertices directly rather then just use the bulked routine.

If I remember right that level was the hardest thing I ever completed in my life. I think I found the walkthrough (which bs'er still has up at planetbattezone) just to do, but I did it somehow. I also never finished the missions. I think I was 80% done with the "into the fire" mission when I finally quit. It was too much. When I blew up the mountain beside their base, I didn't wait and attack their units as the came to me. Instead I panicked and sent my whole army that took two days for me to build in to attack and they died like flys on the grill.

...and the FE missions are harder now due to the Attacker plan fixes.

Might have to pare them back some.

Put 10 turrets with pummel on sides with 5 service trucks over there and 6 rckt tanks. Once you seal that area and get con over there with gts your set.
