Hey long time no see.
I'm rather bored recently and might start slapping together a few models here and there... I'll post them here if I can be bothered. So if you want them I can just giv eyou them. They won't be UV mapped mind you.
A pretty amusing thing has occured to me actually. BZ2 will NOT work on XP no matter what I do. And I LOATHE Vista. But still, I installed it as a dual boot, and low and behold all version of bz2 work. Freaking ironic or what. Just a shame that bz2 hates my graphics card and interfaces are ugly. Oh well, need a new PSU for my new 9600GT so I guess I can wait. Though that sticky topic doesn't sound promising...
Hope you're all doing well with whatevers going on.
I just installed PB4 as well and will be testing it soon.

Welcome back Raven.
Glad to see you haven't left us for dead.
Odd, I use XP (most of us do) without issue. I have an 8600 and as long as I don't update any drivers I'm fine in BZ2.
Tell me about it... Wings or 3dsmax also wouldnt run under XP. Must be my cruddy graphics. Wings runs on vista but its bloody slow and therefore plays on my short patience...
heya, nice EYE
WB!
*hug*
That is weird because I have 3 different versions of 3d studio max that all work on XP including version 1.1 from waaay back that I need for a certain game. I have version 1.1, 3 and 6 and they all work fine. Also I've never had a problem running BZ2 on XP and I have it running on Vista as well on my other computer. This computer has a nvidia 7950GT and my other computer has a 8500 that both work fine.
Dia
I have max 7 and 9 and both work fine on XP Pro... 8800gts.
I blame my ATI drivers ^_^
And thankyou for the comment on my eye ;)
*gasp* AAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH ATI!!!
Yyyyyup :P When I've got the new PSU its back to nVidia though so all will be well.
Umm, literally a 5 minute job to see if I remember some functions.

Next time I might actually try.
ummmm, nicy nicy.... ;)
Bz2 works fine on xp for me.
Nice models, you really should UV map them, they are not allot of use without it.
I'm not so serious about it right now, just doing it for fun so I can't be bothered to UV map them its just too tedious. Of course if anyone wants them (which I doubt right now as I'm just getting back into the swing of things) then they are welcome to do what they want with them, but they will have to UV them themselves.

Those are cool.
Bored? :-D
Shouldn't you be testing HE. ;)
Glad to here from you again, Raven! I thought you were gone for good haven't not shown up on my forums in awhile. :D You're emails are all bouncing. Where are you know?
Vista needs a minimum DX8 level video card to run 'well', if it is choppy and you are running Aero, no doubt you need to update your graphics to something this century, if you are not running Aero, then the rest of the pc needs to be updated. If BZ2 will not run in XP, just make sure you have a video card from this century, make sure to get drivers that are about 1 to 2 years old, and make sure DirectX is updated.

Hey Jonathan :)
3.0ghz Dualcore
2gb ram
256mb graphics card
Runs fine in Vista though its a bit choppy and mipmaps etc are fried (horrible interfaces), but XP 'can't start hardware accelerated DX8 or better' but runs every other game I've got.
Aero and all the shiney garbage isn't a problem for it.
Its just dodgey drivers I'm guessing. Its a pretty cruddy card if I'm honest (HD 2400 pro) Vista actually runs better than XP does at the moment, but thats partly my fault ;)
All will be well (hopefully) when I've got a half-decent PSU that can handle the 9600 gt.
Emails sent to me to '@ravenmod.com' will bounce as I no longer own it.
I've not checked the hotmail.co.uk (bz2raven(at)hotmail.co.uk) for a veeery long time. Aaaand yes I couldn't test HE as bz2 wouldn't fricking run :P
EDIT:
Just updated drivers, mipmaps on 1.2 are now perfectly smooth. So its just 1.3's gameprefs. Thats unusual, you normally have to rol lBACK drivers for things to start working again.
I like that second one. Might get you a work cue some time
I am still using some rather ancient Radeon drivers since the new ones remove support for DX6 (which is what BZ2 uses). Might try even older ones, I think mine were 7.08 or so...

didnt GSH bump the DX version up to 7 or 8 with the PB patches? im pretty sure he did
hey raven, hit me up on msn :D
same same!
No. BZ2's Sound was bumped up to DX8, but the graphics still require DX6.

So are the graphics going to be bumped up at all?
No. They cannot be updated as easily as the sound system could. The rendering sybsystem is integrated into near all parts of the engine, thus updating it would involve rewriting a good portion of BZ2, certainly not something a single person can do in his spare time in any kind of reasonable time scheme.

Ouch
1.3 uses DirectInput8 and DirectSound8 for input (keyboard, joystick, gamepads, etc) and sound, respectively. Still uses Direct3D 6 for graphics.

okey spoke. what a nightmare lol
