Title: could someone help me with this graphics card:
Post by: TheJamsh on September 05, 2008, 05:43:17 PM
My laptop comes equipped with an ATI  Radeon HD 2600...

I just wonder if anyone knows of any issues with the ATI cards (particularly that one) and BZ2? do they have the same issues as nVidia or what?

My 1950XT works fine as long as I use somewhat older drivers (newer drivers drop DX6 support).

sounds good

ive been reading reviews on the full-size HD 2900 XT or something and they say it is neck and neck with the 8800 GTS from nvidia.

You should see the 3x00 series, it is *nice*, they are finally outdoing nVidia there.  nVidia even publicly stated they were surprised in the sudden increase, but that they have something to outdo it coming out as always; I love competition.  :)

i like it too lol, although the competition seems to make them forget compatibility with older stuff... theres a huge black hole as far as DX10 games go...

well, affordable ones hehe

im just concerned as ive heard about all sorts of issues with the nVidia drivers, but i order about the ATI drivers.

well the laptop arrives on tuesday so ill find out i guess hehe

They both have issues, nothing special there. :)

The 2600PRO is a rather fast card for what you pay for it, the drivers suck though. I have a friend who has the card, and I had to jump through a lot of hoops to get the FLGRX drivers working in linux, and even more suprisingly to get them to work properly in Windows as well! We got BZ2 running well but I havent checked within the past couple of months to see whether a newer driver broke it.

My suggestion is to either update to the latest drivers for the card, or uninstall and use a lower version of the driver.
