If this is the future of planet Earth, then I want nothing to do with it.

LOL! Friktards. The whole thing is full of idiocracy.

First, Maple Story weddings mean absolutly NOTHING (and annoying as hell seeing "____ and ____'s wedding will begin in 20 minutes at ____" every 20 frikkin seconds).
Second, the woman, thinking the MS wedding meant something, then "hacking" into the "hubby's" account to kill him.
Thirdly, the man, being sad about being killed, which, in MS, is NO BIG DEAL, considering you COME BACK TO LIFE with only a little EXP point loss.
Forth, the article, for covering such a retarded piece of sh---news...
And finally, of course, the justice system. Since all the players are stored serverside, and the "hubby" willingly gave his account details up to the "wife," there was no hacking or virtual "breaking-and-entering" into anyone's comp. Any arguments against this statement like "well, if the devorced wife went into a bank and closed their shared account to take all the money, wouldnt THAT be illegal?" is null, since thousands of wives have done this before without serving any media documented jailtime.

Who's most at fault? You decide...

Well, I would assume there is an EULA that states not to do this kind of stuff on Maple Story. She broke the contract, so she should pay. Might be going to far with the police, but than again, cybercrime is getting serious. You would want those who are using your computer thought bots to send spam wouldn't you?

On the BZ2 1.2, can you really charge anyone for something that doesn't actually require authentication to do anything. You are hosting a publicly viewable server, people can send anything to it at that point. Now if they used BZ2 to get into your system to do more nasty stuff, you might have a case.

I hate people. They're stupid. I don't mean "PERSON", I mean "PEOPLE".

That's ALMOST like hopping on BZ2, hosting a strat, and being targeted by other players because you started an "unnecessary war" (sound familiar?)

I hate that, makes ya want to go after the ex wife and gouge out her eyeball with a rusty spoon!!

I can't understand jail time. If she wiped any of his HDD or something, that would be different, jail and death row! :-P/me awkwardly tries to pet HDD

I think she is only in jail until the matter is settled. I agree a bit excessive, it should be a civil matter between the company of the game and her, but like any crime, you go to jail until you get bail I guess.

Thats, really, stupid.

I mean unless all the japanese people involved in this case are paranoid (maybe lol) that makes no sense. I mean maybe that could some how relate to a threat on his real life but sheesh.

Actually I just heard that the guy actually gave this woman his password willingly. She didn't do any hacking or social engineering attacks (unless you count Marriage as that), so I would have to agree, why the hell is she in jail for cracking when she didn't do that?

Heh, all this 'virtuality' stuff reminds me of THIS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Taste_of_Armageddon).  Do you see a similarity, i.e. the silliness of it all?  Which, once again, shows how far ahead of its time ST was and, apart from this divorcee illegally gaining access to his virtua-hubby's avatar, proves just one of its many foresights, 4 decades later.

Now she will be tried in a court of law and sentenced to death in a disintegration booth.  :P

Love the example. That was a great Trek episode. :D

@all,

When playing BZ2 in multi, better think twice before you run over those pilots running to the recy. The owning player may have you arrested for murdering those people. :D :D :D
