I was trawling through data.pak the other day, and discovered two maps I hadn't used before...
BZ2001.bzn
demo01.bzn
BZ2001 seems to cause a massive (and I mean massive) crash, which opens the error log at least twenty times (enough to take the alt-tab window to three rows) and then completely locks up the system, whilst demo01 is a replica of the BZ2 demo map - complete with rocket tank, spire, guardians, and weapons... though there are no mission-specific objects (probably because I loaded it in PB4a editor which disabled the DLL).
I know you guys have discovered them before, but I just wanted to ask if these maps have ever actively been enabled or used in standard play before, and just generally ask about any other easter eggs you guys may have been found.
I already know about the singing tree and the son's photo, by the way.
:-o
Easter Eggs? Photo? Singing trees? Hidden maps? I never knew about this before... can someone make a list for me? :D
*runs to Pak Explorer and fires up BZ2*
They work best in 1.2, I think. Ill add you on MSN if I can and walk you through it
There is an incomplete comet for Pluto with an ice ball gun in the data.pak
"singing tree"?
Can someone please tell me how to find all of these? :O
I've never known about any of them, and they sound FUN!
For the tree, look up Brad Pickering on BZComplex. It's somewhere in the mission where you have to rescue Shabayev, and it sings Itsy Bitsy Spider... I think.
wtfi never found that haha?
Nor did I, I didn't know about any of these either until the other day. I discovered the maps while looking through the .pak for something else.
my story is in this picture of itsy bitsy spider http://www.bzcomplex.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=299&fullsize=1 (http://www.bzcomplex.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=299&fullsize=1)

Woah! Its a little kid singing it! Is this actually in a mission or is it something Paramatic Studios put in there randomly?
It's the mission on Mire where you rescue Shabayev and capture the Alchemator... I think.
I await confirmation of the singing tree.
There are a lot of places on a map... maybe more specific? :P
Maybe a birdseye of the level with a drawn location?
i cant remember it was years ago and N1 reminded me of it
So Paramatic Studios do have a sence of humor

Paramatic? You mean Pandemic? :?
I can't recall, but I think that is Wil Stahl's kid, in photo and singing.
Another simple known easter egg: Type "iam" (without quotes) in the console. I'm sure everyone's done that.

Yeah. And it'll wipe your harddrive, then make your keyboard electrofied at 240 volts and then it will make your monitor explode and it will suck you into the PC and spin-dry you in the CD drive for 6 hours.

I'm not dumb
or am I?Anyway, that command does nothing
Quote from: Power Board on December 16, 2008, 05:41:49 AMAnyway, that command does nothing
Well yes it does something, it shows the name of one of the programmers. Hence, an easter egg. Don't mind BBB, his information is wrong, i.e. it's 5 hours, not 6, for the CD spin dry.
lol.

Well, I'm not in the drive yet...
*BANG*ARRRRRRRRRRRG!
Well, 3 hours ago I tried it...I must say, after 45 minutes, the dizziness just turns into a trancelike state and...and...uh....does anyone smell something burni---oh god...OWOWOWOW! SOMEONE CANCEL THE CD WRITE!
Nasty way to go.
Still waiting for that "X marks the spot" on the singing tree.
Also, can someone explain to me the picture of dev's son?
i think it was just a test that they had at the time and they took some random pic file and put as a texture just for a test, same as the song i think thats just a sound test, I looked through stock files in the .pak and i couldnt find a tree that makes the song so I dont know were i got the idea of it being there, i would go through the map in the editor but i cant get to it on my PC cause i cant use the ~ key
Data - you're wrong again. Please don't bother posting until you verify your comments have some factual basis in reality. Thank you.

I get most of my info from GSH and Ken and others like that. I want some hard evidence of "the signing tree".
you can get a keyboard for like 10 dollars. the last eleven dollar keyboard i bought lasted a good long while.

All it would be is a tree object with an AmbientSound that is the kid singing.
Could also be a sound cube.
Or worse a sound triggered by the mission DLL by user position.
The last is nearly imposable to check without finding it.
the dll thing would show up on the path map wouldnt it cause that is the thing that works the dll is it not? and GSH always makes me cry   :x
The DLL thing could use a coordinate vector directly, hence why I need someone to go and find said tree.
The image and song is will stah's son, i believe. And reminiscent of the BZ1 Easter eggs, they're there because they can be.
YES GBD, we knew that (or anyone who bothers to read my site). Except the BZ1 bit.

The problem is I don't know where to look on the site. I've searched several times for steps about the picture of the kid. Link please?
bewes01.pic is Brad Pickering's son. Not Wil Stahl's.
