Hi,
I have been playing BZ2 for a long time and I finally tried playing online. My first online game was crapy to say the least. I would have good Frames Per Second at one point and then it would be in the red. I never had this much trouble before. And now it even lags on the single player. I have the latest version of DirectX and I have shut down every this running in the backround to. And I have a 500G hard drive. I also have a GeForce 7600 with 256MB. And since it acted like this on the first online game that means I do not have a virus. I have been asking the moderator on Battlezone federation about this to. But I am running out of ideas on what could be wrong. I have also tried all of my other games. And so far my other games work fine. And I also have 4G of memory in my computer.
Can some one please help me?

Have you tried reinstalling the game?
And which patch are you using?
(1) Read the nettips/readme13.rtf -- it explains why BZ2 will not get a bajillion fps. Too much work is done on the CPU, and it's not leveraging the GPU.
(2) You have an nVidia card. Turn sky detail to off, and see if that helps. There's a sticky thread on this board you've missed. nVidia's recent drivers do NOT deal well with BZ2's sky medium/high settings. nVidia's got bugs in their DirectX 6 code, and don't appear to want to fix them.

He only has a 7600, unless he has issues from the latest drivers, it should work. My 8600 works w/ domes.
I have had to reinstall it so I could use the new version of Forgotten Enemies. Because I thought it might be the the original game. I have the latest patch. I have not had any problems with BZ2 before so i do not know what to check and how to find it. So please if you need me to check something please tell me how to find it.

I looked for the nettips but all it said was.
Tips for Battlezone 2 Multiplayer
This file has been superceeded by the more printer-friendly
nettips.rtf in the same directory as this file. The most
up-to-date version can be found at
http://www.visi.com/~nathan/bz2/nettips.html
Is this what I was meant to find?
There's another nettips file in the same directory. One is .txt, the other is .rtf, if you've got "show file extensions" turned on. (Which is stupidly NOT the default)

Ok I found the folder. I will read it and let you know if it works.
I just printed the hole readme. There are 14-15 pages of info here. What do I need to read? Please help me lower the amount of pages I have to read.
On one of the pages I found a topic on my problem. But it said basically that I should not be having this problem. But I am. I have tried reinstalling BZ2. But it still gives me that problem. I even searched in google for some answers but I found nothing. I am really hoping that you guys can help me. I would really hate to have to restore my PC and not be able to play BZ2 online. I have gotten quite tired of the normal single player games. I would love to play BZ2 online but if you guys can not help me I do not know how I will ever fix this problem.
Try reinstalling it again, and use the 1.2 patch. If it works, then move up to 1.3pb4a.
I just tried what you said and it still lagged. I tried it out on the alien dunes instant mission. I even had trouble with my mouse but I think I know how to fix that. It started lagging early in the game. I only had 3 warriors, a recycler, a upgraded factory, and 3 scavengers. Two where on scrap pools. I have play that mission alot and I know that it should not be doing what it is doing. Do you guys have any more ideas on what might be wrong?
Is it possible that its my CPU or something conflicting? I have a AMD 4400. I am trying to think of what else it might be. Do you guys have any more ideas?
BZ2 is optimized for Intel processors, but AMD's are supported i believe.
Lag might be youre internet connection... theres a site linked around here to check youre speed. Also, make sure that the connection type is specified correctly onder the play options tab
I have it set up right under options. And my inter net speed is like 500 something. I have never had lag on any games before. This info is right from my modem.
3008 Kbps (downstream)
512 Kbps (upstream)
Will that help?
woops wrong thread
I am about to get a GeForce 7300LE video card and a new motherboard installed. Would any of those items possibly fix my problem?
I finally found out what was wrong. It was my video card pitching a pit about how old the game is. So I uninstalled it and went and explored the disc and right clicked on the bzone.exe and ran in with the compatibility setting of Windows 98/Me. Once the game was installed I downloaded and ran the patch and the game moved so smooth I thought I was dreaming. I am posting this so that if there is anyone else with the problem I had they will know how to fix it.
Thanks for all your help guys.
