Title: mission 3 of Forgotten Enemies
Post by: TopGun on February 24, 2009, 11:24:56 PM
I have been playing the 1.3 version of FE. And I played mission 3 and got a big base set up and I waited hours and the enemy attack squad would not come. Is there something that has to happen first? Can you guys help me?

I have read that but I had a factory, service bay, service trucks, armory, a full tank, scout, and turret squads of 30 vehicles total. Can you guys tell me how to get the squad to come and attack?

If all else fails:
game.cheat bzwinner

Not sure how to make them attack.

Retry the mission?

According to the dll script, they automatically start attacking you once you deploy the recycler. It just takes a little time for them to build their forces.

If they aren't attacking still, it could be a bug in the mod.

Faulty AIPs?

anything in FE awaiting recyclers deploying was always a little 'dodgy' to my memory... wasnt 100% foolproof.

whats that mission where you deploy a recycler about 500 metres from initial location, and at the end the whole thing gets blitzed by a megagun blast? That was one i always found hard to work.

Truly that might be the one I always have trouble with. Where you have to get up 200 bio-metal to operate the sky-laser, about 5 freaking times, before they blast you with a sky-laser.!!!! And all the while they're ripping your stuff to shreds from every angle. I've made it past that before, but only one time. The furthest I've made it is the campaign where you must build up a huge force and then take a bomb and plant it on the hillside outside of their base. Then attack and destroy their base. I never finished that. Freaking hard, that one.

It always worked for me... but that was in 1.2.

I am working on retrying it with only turrets. But I would like to know why my base is stopping them from coming. I know they attack because the first time I did the mission they did attack. But my second try I got alot of stuff built. Could that have something to do with it? Have any of you built a huge base and had them attack?

You know.. sometimes the enemy recycler doesn't deploy, so what you should do, is at the start maybe, is put in game.cheat bzradar so you can see if the recycler deploys or not. You should be able to tell where the recycler is.

It happens when you deploy your recycler too fast, or if you use SRV Pre-Deployed.

Is there a way I can get the 1.2 version of FE? I think that that one might be better to play since I hear they worked all the bugs out of that version.

You're using a 1.3 PB3 version with PB4a. Simple problem, just uninstall and reinstall with PB3. 's all cool.

Keep in mind that 1.3 FE is a harder (harder than hard? yep) due to improvements in the AI

You can't do that since 1.2 and each version of 1.3 uses different types of pilot data files (I think) -- though you can try to copy the pilots folder over to the new install.

I am using the 1.3 version of FE. I could not install it. So I unziped it with 7-zip and copy pasted the files in a fresh install of BZ2. I will also send a link to the topic I have been using of another web site.

There is the link. It will let you guys know what I did and how I got the FE 1.3 mod to work. Maybe I got it to work the wrong way.

Is it the 1.3 Patch causing all these errors? Because now I can not even play BZ2 the normal single player. When ever I try to quit the first scion mission I get a error sound and then the game minimizes. Can you guys help me with all these problems I am having?

The 1.3 patch is not causing the errors. You putting the mod in the incorrect version is causing the problems.
The FE you are using is for 1.3pb3, so, make a 2nd install of BZ2 and install 1.3pb3 in it, then install FE into THAT bz2. Also, bz2 MAY have a uninstall option somewhere (not in the game, an exe in some folder), if not, it is still just a simple task of removing the folders tagged 'FE' and the files tagged 'FE' from your PB4a BZ2 dir.

Battlezone II 1.3pb4a introduced a new feature that has had great advancement to modding (ODF inheritance) but because of the way it functions, some objects classes (mostly weapons) had to be changed. This is not something for you to do, just grab pb3 for the one you have.

There may be a 1.3PB4a FE, I do not know.

I uninstalled and reinstalled BZ2 along with putting the latest patch in. I am beginning to wonder if it will ever work. Do I just get the 1.2 Bz2 patch and the 1.2 version of FE? And I still got the same error. The same one I posted. Is there anything else it could be?

Listen to me.

Now that's got your attention.

1)   If you don't have anything special or important on this install of BZ2, uninstall it.

2)   Delete the folder it was in to clear up any leftovers.

3)   Reinstall BZ2.

4)   Install the 1.3 PB3 patch.

5)   Install FE 1.3

6)  Should work now. Report back if it doesn't.

That's got that *Service Pods* cleared up.

Because the next mission is probably not faulty. The only reason there is a problem is that there will be some file somewhere in that mission that is either corrupt, missing or out of date.

1.3 is so different to 1.2 that its new features are probably interfering with the mod which was originally made for 1.2. This is easy to fix and Red Devil is currently doing just that.

FE Pb3 is not completely stable because it wasn't ever finished. That being said, many of the missions work fine.

Title: Re: mission 3 of Forgotten Enemies
Post by: TopGun on February 28, 2009, 05:49:34 AM
It did not work again and I played on mission 4. I uninstalled and got rid of all the copies of the BZ2 files that I made. And then reinstalled the game. Once that it was reinstalled I patched it with the download from this link.

http://www.gameupdates.org/details.php?id=2790

Then I made 3 copies of that BZ2 file with it patched and then downloaded the FE file. Now does the FE file have its own installer? If not than I have the write file. And then I extracted it with 7-Zip onto my desktop. Then I copy pasted the extracted FE files into one of the BZ2 copied files. Then I made a bzone.exe shortcut from that file and named the file on the hard drive and the shortcut this (Battlezone II_FE). then a friend gave me a target that I needed to assign the shortcut to. Once all that was done the game always launches. But right be for the game crashes with the error it gives me a error in the game about ordinance and then about 5 to 10 minutes later I get that error.

If I need to explain any specific part of what I did please post. But if you guys have any idea why this might still be happening please tell me what is wrong.

Ok disregard my post asking which one to download. It works. I played a mission that always made it crash. But there are a few things that I saw that did not work.

1: The T Key does not show me the enemy unit I select.

2: I can not see the last 3 topics in the input section.

3: I can not change any of my keys in the input section.

Other than these 3 problems it works fine so far but I will have to test it some more.

The funny thing is that it only happeneds on the earth instant mission when no matter what race you choose you are the haiden. But other than that it works great. I just got done getting my butt handed to me by one hell of a hard AI. I wish I could go online with FE but no one ever has a online server using that mod. :(
Is there a way we could arrange a online game some time? It would be alot of fun with that hard AI.

1.2 has plenty of online servers for FE. Try that. Just watch the exploits... or learn to use them yourself.
Title: Re: mission 3 of Forgotten Enemies
Post by: Zero Angel on March 03, 2009, 05:17:54 AM
Nearly all 1.2 players are past the point of using cheats (turrets in buildings, human mortar bikes, cheat that allows you to equip bolter/fountainmines on any unit, etc), however I've noticed some players would multi-bomb as sort of a joke -- I don't know if it's used seriously, but i doubt it -- cheaters know that they will get banned from any strat server if word got out.

As far as other things considered exploits (fast running, hovering, turret humping), most 1.2 players learn to master them and they have become a normal part of gameplay. Its hard though if you're a newb since any vet you face will seem untouchable until you master his skills.

Anyone who plays FE knows its a really good mod for multiplayer, but since not everyone has FE they just host 1.2ZST just to be on the safe side, since everyone has it. There are some FE players like ZOE Bart, and a lot of us people in stock 1.2 are willing to play an FE game if anyone is hosting. If you see me around, come and pull me out of a ZST. I would love to play FE sometime.

I do not know what ZST is. And I will host a game right now and try to have it up for 1 hour. And I will need your online username so I know when you join. I hope you are still on this forum so you and I can have some fun tonight and play my first mod online. And please check the time this message is posted. It is 1:54 AM Eastern Standard time where I am and I will be logging off at 3:00 AM Eastern Standard time. I will be logging off BZ2 FE if no one joins my server. It will be named TopGun with a message of Come Play some MPI. See you there.

If you are playing the 1.2 version and installed by parts INSTEAD of the full installer grab the map pack.

I tried to join a server but it said that it was an unknown map. What is wrong?

You don't have the map.

I have the full installer. I got it off the Battlezone Federation web site. They even still have the 1.2 patch download. Will the 1.2 version see servers thatare on the 1.3 version? If so maybe it was on the 1.3 and not 1.2.

And one other thing. Why does my mouse work off and on but when I abort the mission it works fine? And on the 1.3 version I do not have these problems. I am not trying to be a pest I am just trying to find out answers to all these problems I am having.

Quarry comes with the game (as in 1.0-1.1), so if you don't have it something installed wrong. If the map said ZSTQuarry.bzn (or something like that), it's a separate quarry map with smarter AI that you do in fact have to download separately.

For your mouse problems, try reloading your mouse in options.

HINT: Use the "Edit" button on your post so all of your questions are fit into a single post. Also, this way you're not double/triple posting.

Hope this helps.

Were can I get the ZST version of quarry? And where can I get the normal version of quarry? I have the 1.2 version of FE but I do not know if that version has quarry. As for my mouse I have already tried reloading it. But I will try it again.

Extract them into the MP maps folder under addon.

Do you mean MPI? I went into my BZ file and could only find MPI assets. Where exactly is the file I extract them into?

MP stands for multiplayer.

Extract them to: C:\Program Files\Battlezone II\addon\Missions\Multiplayer

What is vaseline?

Why is mummy not moving?

Why is the flashy-light car out the front of the house?

Why is daddy being taken by the police man?

Oh...um....... too far...   :-P

I had to addon files in the folder. I have FEaddon, Addon, and addon_2009-02-26_1813. I put the unziped files in the FE addon file. when I added the second file it said it needed to copy over some stuff. I said ok and then when I tried to host a game it gave me that error.

Thats all I did.

NO! Do NOT install them to addon.

Read the instructions at TimeDisruptor:
Quote from: TimeVirusInstall to stock 1.2 Battlezone II root directory, NOT ADDON, use folders option should be on in winzip.

The maps will automatically put themselves where they belong if you install to your ROOT directory. Extracting them to anything else will create BIG problems.

If you install them in the root directory they wont be picked up by BZ2.

They have to be in addon...

zst maps should not be installed into any version later than 1.2.
The presence of addon_2009-02-26 rather implys this is not 1.2

zst maps only work in version 1.2.

the presence of FEaddon, also implys that you have installed Forgotten Enemys, I wont guess at which version of FE that is.

Read the instructions that come with all downloaded files they are important.
The version of battlezone 2 is also important. A mod or map should state which version it is for, if you load the wrong ones into the wrong version they will go wrong.

Oh... I thought he meant individual maps... not the actual ZST Packs.

Yeah- If you are installing a map pack, extract it to the bz2 root directory.

If you are installing an individual map, extract it to: C:\Program Files\Battlezone II\addon\Missions\Multiplayer
