But so far nothing political has been discussed, just opposition expressed against a leader who won a democratic election.
Is it democracy that you oppose?

I oppose not democracy but democrats who don't really have much to do with democracy anymore, or have democracy but with so much added on to it in that name that the democracy is blurred and hidden.

The form of government in the US is a Republic, not a Democracy.  If you don't know the difference, look it up.  And if you have a bone to pick with the fact that Obama was elected, take it up with all of the people who voted for him, don't take it out on him.

Goodbye.

Why in the world do you pick such controversial topics? It just leads to flaming and trolling.. perhaps think before you type.

It doesn't have to involve flaming and trolling.  You can have a discussion of politics if you simply keep it civil and don't take anything personally.  Even though I don't really consider my political views to be fully formed enough to actually discuss them, I still support this thread and the ability to express ones views.

And remember, most flame wars are simply started by misunderstanding and misinterpretation.  So double check someone's writing before assuming they are attacking/shouting at you.

Just be glad you don't still have the village idiot.

And that is the garbage I CANNOT STAND.

Obama has already done enough to get a bash or two, but no, it never happens, why? Bashing only occurs commonly once the media starts it. The media was in full support of life size Bush heads with hair and other facial features styled like Hitler, but a single sign that says "Obama is a fascist" in text is an atrocity (same reporter in both cases even).

It is deplorable that everyone just blindly gets on the bandwagon and treats Obama as a 'can do no wrong' celebrity and Bush like Hitler. Especially when Bush did an amazing job considering the deplorable conditions. Hell, 90% of thing things bush is blamed for by the congress, media, and people are the fault of the democrat congress!

OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE. Look at the raw facts, look at what happened and who actually did what. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD stop going gaga over Obama and his fame. This has even reach Obama as you will notice all he really does is give speeches and continue to campaign around the world! Let us actually look toward the future, think about our surroundings, and support the President AS A PRESIDENT so that he may make good decisions for the future and not decisions to keep his fame.

No, we don't have the village idiot, we have the village pretty boy who can't do a damn thing himself but has hordes of people willing to fulfill his every whim. Oh year that and destroy the economy.

QuoteOh year that and destroy the economy.
If anyone is to blame for triggering the current economic problems, it is the last US administration. But to be fair it is an issue bigger than any individual national government. It is not going to just go away because someone juggles the books skilfully. While ever increasing growth is still sought by the world economy, this finite and damaged world will only deliver ever increasing failure to it. Time to wake up and smell the roses before they are all trampled into the dirt by uncontrolled human greed.

I don't tend to like people who can't put a sentence together with huge pauses in the middle, it doesn't say much about their intelligence. It might be that I'm generalising, but still, that's my view.

It might be a good idea to lok and/or delete this, to be honest. People will start fighting.

Thinks were improving until that damn 'porkulus' bill. And if a company is going to fail, it should fail. Sure, that might have a short term effect, but NOTHING like what er are going to have now that we funnels so much money into the companies and they failed anyway.

An economy is only destroyed when a government body steps in. Left to itself, the economy would stabilize and everyone who should get what they get, would get what they get. You invested in one of the car companies that was going to fail? BOO HOO, it failed, bad choice on your part.

I can't stand how Obama just sits around and whines. "I inherited this, I inherited that." Take it like a god damn man and do something about it like all the presidents before you did. And for the love of god, think about the after effects! Of course, maybe he is, maybe he wants to do what he is doing. For example, he says the shift to the government health care for companies is optional, but then he taxes the HELL out of them if they do not do it and offers all these 'breaks' if they do, and in the end all we end up with is people who can't get the medical procedures they need.

You do not know how much hell my father goes though with this garbage as a teacher! The contact negotiations that occur every year or few years are slowing eroding my family's health care and replacing it with the government garbage, which I can tell you, SUCKS.

I am damn glad so many people are waking up. I live in New Jersey, the state of Democrats, and already every professor and student I meat shares my point of view. Yes that is right, the ever liberal Professors have the same view as me now, IN NEW JERSEY!

1 word:
Celebrity

Same reason people give a crap about the kids of Hollywood stars.

I guess also:
"You don't vote for Obama you are a Racist."
"Any reason you give, however true, even about his policies, you are a Racist."

I had to deal with THAT the first time I got to vote. And yes, I didn't let it deter me. I took my list of what each candidate was going to do and picked that way. I went McCain, he scored higher, MUCH HIGHER, on my numeric chart.

Yes like us in the UK, your "democracy" has evolved into a binary power sharing hegemony. The only way to alter it is to vote for someone other than democrat or republican, but people have this strange idea that voting for the winner is a victory for them, and so only vote for party's that they think can win, and so we all loose...

Obama won because Bush held the office before him and allot of people just wont vote for people who start wars.
Wars are for Kings and Dictators to start, democratic leaders rarely survive instigating acts of such evil.

What the heck is wrong with you?

Are you saying that you would not gladly step aside and let someone who isn't fully qualified take a job for which you are fully qualified - just because they are from a minority group so they deserve it more than you do???

Man, some people...

What the heck is this country coming to... (besides a hasty end)

Well, that kind of bullying is how the federal government gets a lot of wide-spread policy enacted. Look at when "the states" changed the drinking age to 21, or when the speed limits were lowered nationwide. The federal government said "hey, if you want our money, you have to do x, y and z." Another prime example is federal funds for public schools.

Obama won because he is a smooth talker. He got a nickname 'Obama the Preacher' tagged on him becuase he is a charasmatic guy. This has worked for countless people. For example, Hitler would never have gotten so much power if he wasnt such a great public speaker. He got people worked up in a frenzy over the simplest things that have no real solution. Obama does the same today. He talks about mundane things with the stupidest solutions but the people don't care, they just get worked up in a frenzy and think Obama will save them all. What they don't do is listen to facts and reason. Obama also won because people didn't like bush. what were the main reasons of that anyway? someone said because they dont like people who start wars. If i remember correctly someone flew a few hijacked planes into our buildings and we rightfully hunted down the people who were responsible and helped. After 9/11, bush had super high approval ratings. virtually every person in the house and senate was willing to go to war to defend themselves. it wasnt until the war took a long time and the media found a new poster boy: Bush, to blame everything on. Now with almost every news company under the payroll of the Democratic party save FOX, who reports on the good and bad things about Obama and they are being punished for it, everyone is getting the impression that Obama is the best guy to have. Thats why our government is going down the drain, corruption and buying out people who have influence in the lives of others who dont bother to look at the facts themselves.

Title: Re: Politics

I know fox is conservative but the point i was trying to make is that becuase CNN MSNBC and all the other ones wern't reporting on anything negative Obama has done and the FOX has reported negativly on Obama Fox has been punished like not being alowed into certian conferences and stuff like that. Basically i was just trying to point out that people love obama so much partly because most people listen to the news stations as if they were fact and most of them are under control of the liberals.

Have you?

I have done straight numeric tallies that still put FOX to the left beyond the point of the middle ground. I have yet to find ANY TV news that I can rate as right wing. Granted when the Radio Hosts have shows on TV it skews that way, but it never balances out with the very basis of the media itself.

And charisma works for both good guys and bad guys. The point is Obama got an even cleaner pass than Democrats normally do in the media.
