Now I know quite a few of the people here hate Halo 3 with a passion and thinks it's overrated.. which would be correct.
But to truly hate a game you have to try all of it and I did. I have absolute confidence that if the campaign doesn't make you loathe Halo, then the multiplayer will.
It's frustratelying hard, and you'll often wonder how your supposed to win, when you face much more experienced players..
Your thoughts on Halo?
Keep playing, get better, and don't let losing a lot get you angry?
Just like any game, even BZ2.
I hate Halo. I mean, Halo 1 was good, as your generic FPS vs space marines, but it seems every other game now wants to be Halo, and Halo is only a mediocre game, so every other games wants to be mediocre?
psh, The turning point for me buying a 360 was forge on halo3. I was over at a friends and was completely engrossed for about seven hours before i looked at the clock and saw it was 3 in the morning. :-D And if you're talking about H3 I have to disagree with the difficulty of the campaign. Single player Heroic presents an entertaining yet decidedly beatable challenge and legendary co-op is a damn good time.
For multiplayer, I can really only speak more from a standpoint of LAN parties. I don't ususally play matchmaking. I usually set up with some friends and we'll play L4D or H3.
I played one of the old demos, it reminded me of the Minerva mod for HL2. Pretty. I didn't like it though, it seemed just like any other generic FPS to me. Don't get me wrong, I love a good FPS, I had a copy of Quake 2 a few years ago (as in three or four) and I wouldn't stop playing it on my laptop until the disk broke. I have always loved the Half-Life seires and am pissed off it doesn't work properly for me, I have a couple of Q3-based games... but Halo just seems like all the rest. I like innovative games. Things that seem new when you play them, rather than just the same old game with the same old missions... kill everybody here, destroy that objective, protect somebody important, kill somebody else, escape now they've caught you... hell, I've just described all the missions in every generic FPS.
Halo1 was ok... I liked the length of the Halo2 campaign (but didnt like Multiplayer due to the damn duel weld spamming)
Halo3 though was a BIG dissapointment. Campaign was too short, the difficulty went down, multiplayer went to hell due to every 3 year old playing on my team not knowing what teamwork is (-_-), Lack of new/innovative/fun multiplayer maps, REMOVAL of a BloodGulch like map, removal of the Brute variants of the Ghost and Plasma Rifle and the implemention of the other crappy vehicles/weapons, The Flood in all their retarded glory, the lack of map editing provided with Forge (fun to mess around in, but annoying to see people "release" a map when they only added a mega weapon that only they know how to grab)
Of course thats only my opinion. :-D
Its not fair to get pissed at the game for multiplayer. Level design or something like that yes. But not if your mad at players.
Can't do that, it would be like hating 1.2 for the vets... :-D
Don't skim my posts, read them, i specifically "flame" against the Halo3 Multiplayer maps.
I wasn't saying you had, I was berating Cheesy :P
I was saying in general. Not to you specifically.
Never heard that word before, berating, now i know what that means. Thank you.
lol, no problem XD
Halo 3 isn't much shorter. It has fewer missions but they're REALLY long missions. Halo 2 has a lot of missions, but they're short. Halo 3's campaign is structured like Halo 1's. Maybe people hate it because they're so similar.
Without a doubt, Halo 2 was the best of the 3.
It was the only one I could actually find to be worth it.
Halo 1 was good, but a bit tedious to play.
Halo 3 was just too different to the others to be any good as a series finale... but was still fun to play...
I grew up with Halo 2, but now Halo 3 seems a lot better, better graphics, nice explosions, new aircraft!
Halo 2 was what I always regarded as "the berserker's Halo", because Thunderstorm + Legendary would mean that Elites could withstand a plasma stick, and SMGs were just plain crazy.
Halo 1 was somewhat easy, on Easy (lol). Sniper Rifle has Night mode.
Halo 3, only played it once for 30 minutes on a crappy 10" CRT. No commments.
For some reason, younger / less experienced people seem to go mad at the new games simply because they look pretty. I actually spoke to three of my friends and they all said they'd prefer a game with Crysis-level graphics and a crappy storyline to something with BZ2-level graphics and the best storyline ever written...
i liked the halo games. The creation of a 'shield' type health was a miracle for me instead of hunting for health packs i could run around and kill my friends and have fun. But as fas as multiplayer goes, newer better designed maps would be appreciated and the only thing i dont like about players is when they find cheap things to do that everyone knows is not fair. if i get my rear end handed to me ill still have fun

I played some NES games with a system like that.
really? never heard of them before. and when someone said its just a mediocre game, what exactly does make a great game? if you look at ratings, the halo series is an extrodinary series. it has sold so many games but since i don't know if it has outsold every game i cant make that claim. all i know is that it is one of the most popular games today. for me, what makes a game fun is the ability to just get online with your friends and have fun. other games are too serious which don't get me wrong i like that too. take battlezone for instance, you can have a great time with all your friends on it...if you could get them on once in a while...but with halo i could just play with friends for a long time and it wouldnt feel nearly as competitive as other games, we could just sit back and play a game
Halo is an extremely generic game. It just has a massive marketing giant behind it.
I mean GOOD GOD. Aliens and Space Marines. How original...
You have a point there. but hey aliens vs space marines has worked for a long time. If its not broken, dont fix it.
If it's not broken, don't fix it - but even if it isn't broken, something new that does the job better can't hurt.
True

Yeah, and the game "Fire warrior" for the PS2 has an almost identical health system to halo from what I remember.
Eurg, don't get me started on Fire Warrior. Bloody Warhammer... :x
