Hackers invade bz2 multiplayer in future
Wut.
Hmmm... why do I feel an overwhelming amount of deja vu...? 8-)
I DISAGREE!
Tell them good luck... with getting through 1.3's defences.
I can honestly say i have NO idea what on earth this guy/girl/bot is saying.
Translation: Hackers will invade BZ2's multiplayer in the near future.
What, seriously? I don't think there's much to be gained from that.
i lol at 1.2
Information source?
I think this is 1.1, I've seen him around there. :)
Anyone remember my hacker alert I gave back in August 2004? THAT was a funny post. It's gone now (phew!) because of the forums resetting or whatever.

Hackers invade bz2 multiplayer in future
This is the biggest news guys....ever. We gotta call the CIA, FBI, and if we have to well get the salvation army on this one. Anyone have the secret services number? We might need them too.
Tylan's entire posting history as of this moment:

I read that pluto was actualy a comet which was caught in orbit of the sun theres also another planet past pluto called Eris
A nice and coherent sentence here. Although the massive spacing is a bit weird.

I got a name for the scions..............wait....didn't they name themselves the Scion Collective..?
So far so good here. Complete with punctuation as well.

WTF :? ? Tylan sounds like a Babel Fish translation all of the sudden.
A translation of what, though?

An English translation of a Spanish translation of an English translation? :-P
Almost like when TJ translated "We don't speak German well" into German, and when I translated it back, it said "We don't speak English well"?
Wir spechen deutsch nicht gut. Sie sind einen kleines nublet.
He may have fallen victim to these supposed hackers who are using him to speak to us rather than making a new account... :o
I presume that if they do come, they will be doing it for the challenge... hacking a forum full of computer geeks is like trying to invade Fort Knox, only less dangerous.
babel fish and google translator. doesnt matter... they are all crap :P
Hey it worked for me once in my spanish class. the teacher never knew
I AM TELLING THE TRUTH!!!! :x
Unfortunately there is no way to prove that you are and the evidence is rather against you.
Yeah, Tylan. There is no... um... evidence(?) about anything major happening here... Who have you been talking to (or, if not, what have you been taking)?
.......................actually i got this info from someone else..
i just felt like if it was a lie or the truth.....anyways i didn't want to take a any chances so i posted it on here.. :|
It only take a few seconds to ban a hacker with a fire wall so who cares.
Besides, BZ2's Multiworld system is automatically resistant to script kiddy hacking, only actually accessing the host computer and messing with it would have an effect.
Unless he's talking about cheating?

SO...you were a bit dishonest when you said:

And all of a sudden you seem to be going on the defensive.
Yes i am talking about cheating....if they cheat then we cant win..and we will eventually stop playing multiplayer because of that....THEN they will win : :|
Just because some twat decides he's gonna have fun by deliberately stopping other people having fun... not gonna stop us playing our MP! :-D
If they cheat, then we simply ban them from the games we make?
Or at least I thought so... /shrugs.
From what I've read about the community, most of these folks know each other pretty well and have been playing for quite a while. They will continue to play I imagine, even if the BZ2 lobby floods with garbage script kiddies. No offense meant to any script kiddies.
Then again I speak of things which I have not actually experienced much of, only read from posts on here.
Besides, in case you didn't notice this isn't a minge-attracting pile of crap... this is an AWESOME GAME. :P (Awesomeness not applicable to the repellent of people with no lives that basically exist to ruin everyone elses fun.)
i bet no one has heard of the game Everlasting Cry......the guy that told me about the hackers also told me they entirly took over this game.
Well it must have been easy since none of us have heard of it.
No mention of it in two pages of Google and no Wikipedia page, so I'm nicking that for something for my band
I noticed yesterday that the OP playes on 1.10b ... so I guess he does have some point .. 8-)
The OP?
The OPium?
The OPtometrist?
by OP I think he means Original Poster or Topic Starter.
OPera singer?
:-P

Oh.
LMFAO
im about to be called a hacker by some guy called jwillz46 or something, idiot joined a test game of the e-pack, and couldn't join. Clearly he cant read
Well now we know who Tylan was talking about.
yez, i iz a massif hackerz. itz moi loife
My current Avatar says all:(http://www.bzuniverse.com/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;attach=887;type=avatar)
Wow... I can't believe it.
This guy is actually right. There is some guy going around weapon hacking all over the place (1.1-1.2) and doing some odd things in 1.3 as well (definitely not as serious) like blowing up his commander's Recycler.
Very odd.
I think this is the boy you're talking about.
He seems to be around the age of between PoS and 12
I want his IP for my Ban list. I may even add him to the default ban list for BZC
Doesn't anybody care about Dynamic IP's?!
What's PoS?
Anyway, can't GSH or Ken just remove the "hacking" tools and stuff?
It means "Point of Sale" and is an oft used term in the retailing business
:p
Yeah I work at Target and that's what I got out of it :P

I name him "Dop", need an IP-adress ... ? ;)

I probably know who you're talking about. I'll talk to him about it. But I can tell you, it's not Dop and banning whoever-he-might-be's IP address won't change anything as he will change his IP. But like I said, I'll talk some sense to him (again, presuming this guy you're talking about is the one I know).
banning his ip domain will ban him, you generally can only change the last 2 sets of numbers, the first 2 usually stay the same.
I garaunte whoever it is is going to be ghosting anyway, and only the host can view the IP address of various players am i right? It will be interesting to see the result when someone tries to pick a hack against OM...
Dynamic IP's wouldn't work Arbystrider, unless the hacker has no plan of hosting any games of his own. You would require a Static IP to host. But then, this guy is probably just in it to destroy games.
Hyeh? My IP is dynamic and the last time I checked, I can host.
maybe im playing to much xbox...

Mine is dynamic as well, it changes about every 6 weeks ....
(open your internet properties when connected and you can see how long the lease lasts, mine for instance now lasts till 26-07)
Most peoples IPs are dynamic anyway. Mine changes whenever I reset my router for instance. It shouldn't be an issue with.
I've actually got dynamic DNS anyway since I use a desktop as an exchange and fileserver as well as a proxy for college's filters, so it can be accessed by a .ath.cx domain which is nice, since I don't NEED to remember what my IP was this morning. Not that it helps with bz2.
Man I'm good at getting off topic.
Yeah, hackers! BAD!

I think i've played with him in dropzone he just ran off and got himself killed by a statue.
But half of the BZ community does that :|
Wasn't using it to identify him necessarily
Dynamic internal network IPs are what make hosting difficult.
I have a dynamic IP, yet it seems to never change, and I can host fine in 1.3 and used to be able to in 1.2 as well, until recently.
And yeah, I know this is off-topic. I'll stop now. :-P
Oooooh you were referring to internal. Well yeah, since the port wont always be forwarded to YOUR machine if it changes IP.
Fulmen, forgive me for being patronizing if you already know this, but if you think your IP is 192.168.x.x then yes, it probably won't change as your router most likely automatically makes that one static. That is your internal IP that only other machines on your network can use to 'talk' to your machine. Your external IP however, is completely different and most ISPs use a dynamic. This is the one that other people on the internet use to talk to your machine. Being dynamic won't affect hosting on bz2 and you won't even notice it until you decide to run your computer as a server or something, which is where dynamic dns comes in xD
Neither my public or internal IP ever seems to change. I've also disabled DHCP to keep it that way. Yet I still can't host, or sometimes can host in 1.2, but people either can't join it due to "Network timed out" or when they sometimes can, they get a "Server quit" about 10-20 seconds after they joined, while I see it as a "Client not ponging. L1265". Really annoying because I and many of my friends want me to host FE and G66 games. Another major factor is that MP editing is only possible pre-1.3, someting which I like to do to add flavour in the maps like destroyed bases for players to explore etc. Or just a few treats for my side in case the map is extraordinarily hard (i.e. FE MPI Frozen 2, with the hardest settings and 10-15 rampage units).
And again, yeah, I know, this is the wrong place to discuss this. Just replying to a post on the matter, though. I made a thread about my problem sometime ago under the name "Some peculiar hosting problems", you might want to check that out Raven. Though I haven't tried the latest aid given by Nielk and someone else (well, I've tried some of them already before, but to no avail).
Well that sure does suck... Sorry to hear about your troubles!
Aye.. *sob*
I don't think it's possible to hack bz2 anymore, since the new patches.. :-)
Its not :)
But people can still join and screw your game up. Or type meaningless insults repeatedly, but whatever. Thats what /ban 'insert one liner here' is for right?
Believe it or not, there was some guy in Bz2 1.3 (Roundeye, to be exact) who accused me of cheating because I was a CLANMEMBER! That's the most ridiculous accusation I've ever heard in my 9 years of BZ2 (or 11 years of BZ1). Not to mention, I told him that 1.3 is cheatproof, and that I'm the only member [anymore] in my {TFF} clan (no, it's not the BZ1 {TFF} - I made this clan in Jan-Feb 2004 without knowing there was a {TFF} in BZ1). He believed neither.
Before that a couple of weeks ago I pwned this seemingly vet in a 4-way strat in 1.3, and he accused me of hacking.
Those weren't the only times I've been accused of cheating and hacking in 1.3 because I've slaughtered a few bases "too fast", but oh well.
Bloody idiots.
There is someone going around with aprox 20 names who loves to ruin games. Look out.
Here's an idea... always be cheerful and chirpy even when he is ruining the game, take away his fun.
Skyler also known as Skyler Davies is someone who has been acting stupid. I gave him command and he did nothing right, I kicked him after I saw him shoot his own power generator. Before that when I had commanded the earlier game he barely fought anything and would go straight to the enemy base and get killed, never chatting or answering anything I said to him.
But there is someone named ark who I believe is just inexperienced, I did see him host a game once so far.
Fulmen is a very good player, but can get demanding at times. It's all good.
I believe Skyler is something like 7-9 years old (he himself answered 9 in one session, after I guessed that that would be his age). He's a very incompetent and non-co-operative player. I believe his, or his siblings' (or whatever) other nicks are: Skyler_Davis, xd and me.
Ark, also known as Ark_Squall so far seems to be somewhat friendly, not a very good player and whenever he joins my games he lags out. Apparently he has a bad connection, although his ping is only around 150.
Why thank you Axeminister. From what I've seen, you're pretty good yourself as well. And probably the only player I know who plays Bz2 with his wife, hehe. Good job there. :) Women don't usually like these kind of games.
Sometimes I get frustrated at less competent players, but most of the time I'm okay with them as long as they follow orders and don't do something suicidal like going solo deep beyond friendly territory and get themselves killed that way.
I think its skylar for the record.
I've heard both Skyler and Skylar before, anybody know where?
Never seen Skylar, only Skyler and Skyler_Davis.
And mind you, I'm almost always on. Sometimes you just can't see me. ;)
