Why don't you try reading a set of web forums dedicated to the game you mention? There's a lot of forums listed at http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=53 .

Battlezone 2 / Re: easter eggs...

(1) It's my daughter, and (2) it's not code.

I'm really surprised it hasn't been found so far.

Well, if you shoot yourself in the foot by not doing proper backups before installing things... it's a really expensive learning experience.

Battlezone 2: 1.3 Public Beta 5.1 / Re: DX11
December 14, 2009, 09:37:54 AM
DX11 SDKs are definitely available. But, going to DX11 would require (1) a big rewrite of code, and (2) require Windows Vista or Win7. That'll cut out a large number of users. That's why I didn't go to DX10 when doing the recent rewrite -- I wanted to still support Win2000/XP users.

Also, tesselation support would require a lot of models to be rebuilt to have that. Basic chicken-and-egg problem here -- I sure don't have time to do both. I'd rather let some talented modelers make higher-poly (e.g. 3-10K polys) non-tesselated versions of the stock assets. That way, those could be usable via a recy variant in DX9. More people would benefit from that than tesselation.

I've dug thru code, at least back to 1.2. No such thing ever seems to have existed. And, BZ2 should have shipped with .sym files, not .map, as the (old) callstack dumps read in .sym files.

It might be a BZ1-ism, or something else. Not sure. Searching the entire BZ2 codebase (not just morphTankClass), there's no mention of 'velocHide' or 'velocJam'.

Well, 'velocHide' doesn't exist in the BZ2 source code at all right now. It might have at one point, but it was unused. I don't delete things for the heck of it.

If you get the 'symbol database is too small' message, that does NOT appear in the 1.3pb5.1 source code or exe. Your bzone.exe is pre-1.3pb4 (or pre-1.3pb4a, not sure). Reinstall 1.3pb5.1, and right-click on bzone.exe and get properties. Ensure that for version, it notes that it's 1.3pb5.1.

Reviews here:
http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/saboteur
http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps3/saboteur

Sab is currently scoring less (71 metacritic) than Mercs2 (72 metacritic), which I think is unfortunate. Sab's nowhere near a perfect game, just better than Mercs2. Or so I thought.

GSH: You think the BZ2 source will leak out now?  or maybe something like doxygen docs?

Given how much of a jerk you've been to me and the 1.3 cycle/community, that request from you is a bit ... presumptive.

A month ago, Pandemic IT replaced a really broken printer on the 16th floor. Looks like some (ex-)coworkers found that dead printer and had fun with it:

Good riddance to the printer. Sorry I can't identify those coworkers. ;)

The Saboteur has gone gold: http://www.pandemicstudios.com/thesaboteur/content/saboteur-gone-gold or http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&threadid=104571 . Yes, I worked on that game. I'm no longer at Pandemic (I quit), as I noted at http://www.bzuniverse.com/forum/index.php/topic,10188.0.html . Most of my coworkers from Pandemic are also no longer at Pandemic (they were laid off, see that thread also).

As far as I know, BZ2 1.3ta5/1.3pb5.1 require Win2000 and up. Not XP and up.
