Well, as the title suggests, I got bored and thought I'd try to remake that model I made aaages ago (The Renzuken, I called it) that was going to be a space battleship for the mod.
As I said before, its heavily based off of the Nadesico (anime) since its such an epic looking ship and its the 1st anime I ever actually watched so its kinda always stuck in my head. Well, I have the bridge, arms and engines done, and before I try to tackle the pretty damn complicated main body, I was wondering if what I have is actually any good before I carry on...

The vertex colours are just to make a contrast so the images do more justice. UV mapping is gonna be a bleeder, but I actually have the arms UV mapped already, which is surprising, as for those who remember, I freakin' hate UV mapping, drawing the texture is gonna suck but you never know I might get it right.

Anywhoo, what d'ya think?




Sorry about the black backing, Flickr has insisted on converting the transparent PNG to a jpg.... And I can't be botehred to re-render them with a white background :P

I haven't gone too insane with the poly count, it could look a hell of a lot smoother and could have air vents and all sorts of details, but I automatically made it so that bz2 *might* just handle it...

Ok ok I'm bored of this now.

NO graphics card I've ever used has liked DXT textures. Including this one.
/nodxt used to work, but, on this stupid card, ooooh no it still insists on using them.

So I've got the /nodxt in the shortcut to no effect, ever. But I suddenly rememebred "Catalyst Control Centre has DXT textures enabled *DOH*" so I have new hope.
So I disabled them, loaded bz2 and its STILL trying to use them. Its even worse because the card has overridden them and isn't displaying any textures what so ever anymore. Anything that used DXT including the cursor, smoke in the shell and all terrain and models are just blank. I turned it back on and resumed playing its usual, horrible, blocky visuals.

So, forgive my idiocy but how in gods name do you turn bloody DXT off in 1.3pba? I'm bored of these horrible graphics.

How you people play whilst there are players like this around I simply don't know. I mean, AVing a game because he was loosing? Jesus...

As I see there is an AV log, but just giving you a heads up. You might wanna warn over on BZ2MAPS.com when/if you get his IP etc. I'd rather not step foot in the place to be honest.

YES it was in 1.2 so 'none of you care' but whilst on this topic where's that thingy that logs everyones IP and where the AV came from? I'm sure there was a tool like that somewhere.... I'd like something like that so I can keep some form of IP list.

I know you're gonna say "play 1.3" but there are never any bloody games. If there are I usually use it.


Getting his IP isn't an issue, nor is banning him really as he can't do anything in 1.3. Plus the DM server ahs AV logs. Anyway, I'd just like a bit of info on IP trackers etc etc.

Hey long time no see.

I'm rather bored recently and might start slapping together a few models here and there... I'll post them here if I can be bothered. So if you want them I can just giv eyou them. They won't be UV mapped mind you.

A pretty amusing thing has occured to me actually. BZ2 will NOT work on XP no matter what I do. And I LOATHE Vista. But still, I installed it as a dual boot, and low and behold all version of bz2 work. Freaking ironic or what. Just a shame that bz2 hates my graphics card and interfaces are ugly. Oh well, need a new PSU for my new 9600GT so I guess I can wait. Though that sticky topic doesn't sound promising...

Hope you're all doing well with whatevers going on.
I just installed PB4 as well and will be testing it soon.

I guess this should go here.

I don't really know how to start so I guess I'll just spit it out.

In my everlasting luck with PCs, my hard drive blew up as well as the backup hard drive. HOW I do NOT know but both of them are totally fried, you tell me how...
That means everything I've ever done has gone down the crapper. Everything.

I have about 5 files on this mac that I made on this not Windows, so yeah, everything is gone.

So yeah. No more mod, not that it really matters as it seems it would never get completed due to my real life situations, but still, I was happy with how things were going and YES I am *rather* pissed that I've lost everything I've ever done.

So yeah, fan-f***ing-dabby-dozey...

I was under the impression of there being hover construction rigs, I've just made one and I like it, and looked in the modlog for info on that class, and it isn't there...So, is there such a thing? If not I'm slightly screwed as I can't make animations...

1.) In ISDF factory customisation screen, when you select a unit, the xsi displayed in the box is often screwed, as far as I can tell units with a "lights1/2/3 etc" frame bodge up, the mesh is invisible and only the lights can be seen. Possible its my stupid computor wacking up but you never know. Also I haven't checked the Scion kiln/forge yet.

2.) Not so much a bug but when you climb a cliff in a unit (or pilot probably), and as you get to the top, I noticed that you carry on a fair way above the edge of the cliff until you finally right yourself and get onto the top.

Otherwise I like what youve all done with pb3 and thanks again for continuing working on this patch for us all.

If I find any more stuff Il edit this post.

Right first off sorry if this info is around/on the wrong board, but i need it quick.

I know the bz2edit.exe allows the editor. But when im using my mod and i need to get into the editor in that, i cant, even adding the /edit into the mm5 command line options wont work, when i enter the game, the AI taunt says: "I dare you to use the editor" which suggests somethings clicked on (may be a coincidense though) but pressing ctrl+e does nothing...and game.cheat bzeditor acts like youv tried todo it in multi, no confirmation message and still doesnt work. I kind of need this as i havent put up the constructor to build the buildings yet or the building tree.

If its not possible i guess il have to set it up.
