Overdrive Terminal / Avatar

BEAUTIFUL scenery, props, animation.

3D capable - You just need this $5,000 TV... http://www.switched.com/2008/04/10/worlds-first-46-inch-stereoscopic-3d-tv/

Need a top level PC to run it at higher res, but even lower res is beautiful.

Option for aim assist

Negatives:

- 3rd person viewpoint (hate it)
- All the objectives are highlighted by some glowing rings
- All powerups are highlighted by glowing icons?

Overdrive Terminal / Borderlands

It's a very well done game.  Wide array of shelter-seeking AI, good storyline, never-ending variety of guns and abilities, great array of missions, characters, voiceovers, and large maps, plus really good physics.

Overdrive Terminal / Avatar ~= BZ2?

I was watching the Avatar trailer (again) tonight and was suddenly struck by the similarities between Avatar and the BZ2 storyline.  Anybody else notice them, too?

Overdrive Terminal / Windows 7

Here's a thread to post helpful Windows 7 tips and links:

Since I hate the girly color schemes that come with it, my first order of business was to change it ASAP.

Search:

Sucks.  Use NotePad++ to search-in-files and even search-and-replace-in-files.

NotePad++:

Have to install using the "Don't use %%APP..." option, otherwise, you cannot edit your syntax highlighting files because MS decided to make that location inaccessible...

Fraps:

If you get low FPS, install the latest Fraps for W7.  Fixed mine.

Overdrive Terminal / Teamviewer

This is a handy utility to help people having problems with their installs or whatever.

It allows one person using a remote computer to access another persons computer.

Each person must have Teamviewer installed.

Maps and Modding / The Mod Squad
September 17, 2009, 11:19:05 AM
Subtitle: It's a Mod Mod Mod Mod World...

It seems that a lot of people are making a mod now-a-days and I think that is causing a fracturing of the community.  :-(

I think it does that because creating a mod introduces a bias towards that mod or a reluctance/resistance to try mods made by others, as if doing so would somehow either contaminate their own mod or expose its weaknesses.  :?

It may also be due to vanity or one-upmanship ('Nobody can do as good a work as me.' or 'I can do better than that.')

The end result will be modders isolated on their own little modding island, wondering why no one else is playing their mod.

Me, I'm as guilty as any other, so I'm going to go try SRV, QFMod, XMod, etc.  Well, right after I finish up with G66...
