With a built in modeler you could model a ship, write its odf, and throw it in game. Yes it's impossible but its not a terrible idea.

Its COMPLETELY terrible:

You can already do what you request OUTSIDE OF THE GAME AND WITHOUT CAUSING A COMPILATION  OF THINGS TO CODE AND PROBLEMS TO ADDRESS.
Takes what, 10 minutes - 30 minutes to create a cube that is textured HORRIBLY that shoots out stock weapons and WORKS in ANY 3D MODELING PROGRAM.

Besides, you would STILL need to distribute assets as BZ2 IS IN NO WAY AT AT ALL (even with custom code) ABLE TO TRANSFER FILES OVER THE INTERNET VIA SERVERS (! x Largest #)

SO, might as well not even attempt to convince people that it is a good idea and to even try to do this.
