Would a customizeable weapons screen be desireable?

I'm about to embark on adding an options screen that makes customized weapon assignments to units for BZ2/FE and thought I'd ask before I do it if there anybody thought there might be a possibility for abuse or objections in general.

The basic idea is to assign start-up weapons/specials to human and AI units so that we can play against AI units with varying weaponry.

If possible, I want to have the AI adjust their weapons according to what the humans are using.

The way I'm thinking of doing it is to make a .cfg screen that either replaces the current ship selection screen or making a separate, additional screen in Extra Options that would list each selected ship and then allow you to select a weapon for each HP for each ship, like we do with the Recycler/Factory console.  Since the ships are already listed in the Vehicle Selection window, I'd probably extend that.

From what I have found, there are 117 weapons available:

Cannon: 34
Gun: 17
Hand: 13
Mortar: 10
Pack: 6
Rocket: 17
Special: 17
Shield: 3

and (3 plus 7, carry the 2,...) a bunch of ships, so this should be fun.

Now what I need from the experts is which weapons should counter which weapons?

For starters:

Absorbtion vs Plasma
Deflection vs Mini/Chain/Quill/Fang/STAB/Gauss/etc.
Stasis vs Rocket?
What box???

You can use a listbox that refferences a txt file of a list of the weapon ODFs.

Its not which weapon, its how you use em....

Yeah cuz isn't it how much armor and one which ship the shield is? Doesn't that amount the damage dealt by a single shot?  :roll:
