Title: Steeveeo's Recycler Variant version 2.20 released!
Post by: Steeveeo on May 27, 2008, 02:53:39 AM
Hey all! After some time we at the SRV team finally cranked out the next update to Steeveeo's Recycler Variant, version 2.20! This will (hopefully) be the last release until PB4 comes out (if it ever does :P). So, download, patch up, and enjoy!

This mod, for those of you who are new/havent figured it out yet, is for 1.3pb3 ONLY for now, please do not attempt to port it into another version (like 1.2 or 1.3pb4), we already have people working on the optimization of it, so the LAST thing we need right now is people creating versions not compatible with official versions!

Please report all bugs, errors, and imbalance issues to The Fly Swatter (v2.20) (http://www.bz2md.com/smf/index.php?topic=2115.0), or to our Mantis Bug Tracker (http://www.bzcomplex.com/mantis/).

What's New:

Where to get it:
(Choose one of the following)

ZIP File Readme:
(read this section if you are using one of the zips)

So, without further ado, download and have a blast!

That is unfix-able and has always been there.

If you sit there long enough, you might loose 1 HP!
It kills incoming missiles.

You download the one that best fits your current situation.

The FULL zip is for installing v2.20 the first time (unzip to the ADDON folder)
The UPDATE zip is for updating an existing install of v2.06 to 2.20 (unzip to Steeveeo's Recy Variant folder)
The Setup Wizard does that all for you.

He has a strange fear that an installer could wipe a drive for some reason...never heard of that ever actually happening except in ONE case with an UNinstaller with the first Myth game (I think that was the name).

LMAO... 1 post.

All I did was say why. No sarcastic emotion or anything to express emotion.

Don't take everything so personally, there was an inquiry and I responded.

So, how do you guys (everyone DLing) like the new ISDF and Scion Missile Silos?

Missed this one,

You missed the part where I said "moving on"....

BTW, I wouldnt talk about "feelings" if I were you, since I took about a week of strenuous effort to learn, plot, and put the NSIS scripting into practice just to have you bitch at me constantly about how much you absolutely hate and condemn custom installers when I finally completed it!

Now, I shall be the one to end this little bickering session here and now.

FINITO!

Why not ask for help? I helped GBD with his a bit, but then he got a lot of help from Sonic (trusted source of installers) and finished it up.

I could never figure NSIS out, I just use the ZIPtoEXE option. You can have it default to where you want it, at least.
Title: Re: Steeveeo's Recycler Variant version 2.20 released!
Post by: Zero Angel on May 29, 2008, 01:40:58 PM
Brilliant. I played a single game of MPI: dunes on the Easy AIP (because its my first time playing SRV), all other options default. I got all basic tech (fac/arm/service), 2 UGs (upgraded pools), 2 normal pools (mid-center and mid-east), a turret (x3) emplacement at the center pool (Northgate) had a cons enroute to the eastern pool (Eastgate) to build a relay/GT to protect it, and by extension, my secondary UG in the Southeast, though I wasted scrap on 2 silos which I didnt need  -- My plan was to get some GT's up at Eastgate, then upgrade it. Then with the 3 UGs create a lot of base defenses, then get some decent tech.

So I just chained my ship, and then all of the sudden the bomber comes from the SIDE, and I couldnt kill it fast enough and it destroys my service bay+rat, and weakens the adjacent factory and armoury. There's an enemy tank in my base, but I have more important things to do, as I notice that the turret emplacement at NORTHGATE and the GT building site at EASTGATE is under attack at the same time, so I rush over to help them. I come back and only my rec and 2 powergens are left. So I start spamming out turrets with my 2 UGs, My second UG comes under attack and my base rats are getting rapidly obliterated by the sabres that keep wandering into my base. NORTHGATE falls (lost rats and pool) then inside of my own base I lose my ship to a sabre that's attacking it, but manage to build a new one -- then I notice the field constructor and relay i'm trying to build at EASTGATE is under attack again, so I rush off to help it, determined to get a GT up there and protect my eastern flanks, but its too late since its getting hit by an asstank and RT, the cons and relay die, I lose my ship and then I notice that theres an asstank and RT going into my base from NORTHGATE (which already fell to their attack). Umm yeah, gg. I just got totally obliterated on the EASY AIP. If I had like 30 more seconds, I wouldve formed a coherent defense, but they just hit everything at once right before I was about to get GT's. Still was fun.

Post by: Steeveeo on May 29, 2008, 03:28:01 PM
Heh, I was wondering if I overpowered the bomber by giving it a very wide turn path (300), guess it just enhanced strategy?

BTW,  a couple Rocket towers along your perimeter (along both sides and possibly on cliffs) sure do help. LRM towers also can hit the bomber from afar and possibly kill the bomb (maybe) with their high damage radius. Just though I should let you know ;)

Oh, and damn, forgot to include one README. Basically it said this:

To use Advanced (heavy) Surface Attack missiles (Hammer and Dark Matter Rocket), you need to have a secondary base with the following buildings for each side:

ISDF:
Research Center

Scion:
Dark Matter Generator

The reason you need to know this here is because of a nasty little bug that I cannot root out right now, causing the requirement of the advanced buildings to never show up and just show a blank spot.

Post by: Nielk1 on May 29, 2008, 05:04:09 PM
No, we checked, they are required correctly. Its either an Engine or a CFG limitation, and changing either is beyond the scope of SRV.

i dont know if this is wat he said but this is wat the othe guy said but this is wat i would do

i would use the odf edit thingy from bzscrap i think i got it there

load up ur, im pretty sure its a ship style odf that u used and not weapon style like the xmod, and do the same thing with a tank (a tank needs a relay bunker 2 be made in the factory right) <-- im pretty sure

and then u copy that idea

and then u dont us the luancher with a armory style odf, that i think u used, but a factory type of odf because idk i think it might help cause u also got the artillary there 2

but im no expert so i would not try it on the version that works

The requirements are coded correctly in the ODFs. The game is not capable of showing that many requirements. There is NO FIX. We made it RIGHT.

Well, if building X requires buildings: A, B, C, D, and E

And building C, also requires building E. Then doesnt it make sense to have for the requirements "A, B, C, D" since in order to build C you need building E?

Or just lower one of the requirements. Like removing the factory requirement, since, for example, the armoury and service bay already require one.

But what happens if the opponent hits your base and takes out the factory and missile silo, but you kill them before they can kill your armory and service bay?  You could still build the silo without having to build the factory first.

VSMIT.
Title: Re: Steeveeo's Recycler Variant version 2.20 released!
Post by: Zero Angel on May 31, 2008, 04:55:49 PM
True. It would make sense then, to instead exclude the easiest requirement to meet. For example in situations where the building requires an armoury, tech center, factory, missile silo, and service bay. You could exclude the armoury, because the player will most likely go for the armoury before trying to build the advanced missiles (not to mention that loss of the armoury prevents building of these things anyways, and that most units, most likely the ones that will use them, require an armoury in order to be built in the first place).

On the other hand, if the player doesnt have a factory -- and he tries to build the adv missiles, and it displays the other requirements BUT the factory, but he still cant build it. Then I would assume that they would assume "DUH! I guess I should make a factory"

The small caveat will not be noticed by most players, if its set up that way, and if they do find a way that the limitation is found and obvious, they simply need to refer to the readme anyways.

The idea is with SRV installed you can still play stock games.
