Title: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc
Post by: Shephren on March 19, 2009, 09:22:59 PM
Hello there!
It's been a while i wrote something,but now i need a bit..well,a lot of help.
I'll want do modify the scrap at itself,that a scav gains more scrap in the same time as he usually does.Like in some multiplayer maps the uman scrap cheat on 3.Need that option for my own maps,i think it would work if i change some units,their odf files(is that correct?I'm a total noob at that  :-D ).I've already got an ODF Editor,but need the odf files from the data.pak,the bz2extract frombzsrcap opens for less than a second and shuts down immediately.There is just the cmd.window from windows for that short time.
Is there another extractor or something like that?
Pls,need help.Want to give my friends a quick and dirty battle  :mrgreen:
Hope someone is able to help me

If this is 1.3, you best bet is a rec variant. A map can cause a rec variant to be selected automatically, and yours can be on the list for everyone to use any time (provided they have it).

If you make a rec variant, you can make everything it makes a lower cost. There is no way to increase the value of loose, but you can make units drop more loose or just crank up extractor rates.

I suggest you look at some of the rec variants that come with 1.3 and see how it is done. You can go download MRVP 1.0 (www.bz2md.com has a news post on it if you can find the topic for it here) to see how I make rec variants. Maybe one of those might fit what you want.

If you are working in 1.2, let us know so we can better help you for that more modding limited version.

Get PAKExplorer.

QuoteThere is no way to increase the value of loose

Not true. Find and extract npscr1, npscr2, npscr3 or npscrx in data.pak. Copy them to addon. Edit scrapValue = x in the ODF(s).

Unless he uses custom ships with:

ScrapClass1 = ""
ScrapClass2 = ""
ScrapClass3 = ""

If you are going to do that, just make ships drop more total loose.

If you are just making a map with higher value loose, just make a custom loose ODF and use that. It wounds like you want something more complex though.

Wouh,first of all,i'm using version 1.3.4.75..so yes,1.3^^
Nice,nice nice!
Well,downloaded the PAKexplorer and launched it,i opened the object file of the apc i think,with all the lines like "scrapcost(damn,yeah! xD),or build time.
What should i do to modify some of them?Just type in a new number if i want it to be cheaper,for instance 20 scrap instead of 60 and then overwrite the old file(i'll make a copy of it first) or rename it?Where must i put it,if i want to have the normal APC,and the cheaper version?I remember the button "advanced units" of the forge and the factory.How do i do that?
Last question for the moment,if i just change some numbers and overwrite the old apc-file,i pass it over to my friends and we all could build apc's which cost 20 scrap,fly faster or whatever,right?I just have to copy the data.pak,or my whole bz 2 folder?
So far

If you want a cheaper rec, your best bet is to make a mass of inherited ODFs for it.

So your first odf would be ivrecy_cheap.odf
[GameObjectClass]
classlabel = "ivrecy"

[CraftClass]

[TrackedVehicleClass]

[TrackedDeployableClass]

[DeployBuildingClass]
deployName = "ibrecy_cheap"

[RecyclerVehicleClass]

[Lod1]

And then ibrecy_cheap.odf:
[GameObjectClass]
classLabel = "ibrecy"

[PoweredBuildingClass]

[BuildingClass]

[FactoryClass]
buildItem1 = "ivscav_cheap"
buildItem2 = "ivscout_cheap"
buildItem3 = "ivturr_cheap"
buildItem4 = "ivtug_cheap"
buildItem5 = "ivcons_cheap"
buildItem6 = "ivserv_cheap"
buildItem7 = "apserv _cheap" // or omit this line to build normal
buildItem8 = "ivscout_m" // (perhaps ivscout_cheapm)
buildEmptyItem = 8

[RecyclerClass]

[Lod1]

That is how you start to make a rec variant. The inheritance (making the classlabel an ODF name instead of a class) makes it even easier.

I think it will be cool to see some new recs come about...
If you choose to make a rec variant, once you get all of the ODFs working (test in editor) you make an autoreg file to make it automatically add to the rec list and then test playing without it enabled with someone without it (to be sure it doesn't screw up stock) and then with it with someone to be sure it works. ORRRRRR, have us look over it.

Rec variants are the new big thing.

Cool,tested just a bit out,now i know where they are saved and how to put them into the PAK explorer.One more question,how do i create a autoreg file to put the rec in the reclist in multiplayer?
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc
Post by: Nielk1 on March 20, 2009, 03:40:31 PM
You should not put files into the pak file.

Instead, place your files in addon. If you edit the PAK file, you may cause BA for every game you try to join.

Files in addon override files in data.pak if they have the same name, but since you are making a rec variant, you are not actually making new files.

QuoteNot true. Find and extract npscr1, npscr2, npscr3 or npscrx in data.pak. Copy them to addon. Edit scrapValue = x in the ODF(s).
Altering the properties of objects saved on maps, like loose scrap, can/might cause problems.
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc
Post by: Shephren on March 20, 2009, 10:18:47 PM
Here i am again.Created some ibrecy_cheap/ivtank_cheap things.Saved them in my addon folder as you told me,but where can i chose my recylcer(if i made a new recylcer,don't know.Didn't overwrite anything).Or how do i open them in my editor?I've just changed the scrap costs of the units,and that the apc drops 3 sabres.
That autoreg,how do i create it?
Hope i did nothing wrong
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc
Post by: Nielk1 on March 20, 2009, 10:40:45 PM
In the editor you would just type in the box ivrecy_cheap or fvrecy_cheap, plcae it on team 1, then remove your starting rec.

You need an autoreg file to make your rec appear in lists. There are some of these files already in addon/autoregs
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc
Post by: Shephren on March 21, 2009, 09:10:20 AM
Did that,but i get an Runtime Error.
For instance,my ivrecy_cheap.odf as you see.I changed baseName to ivrecy_cheap and tested it again.Nothing else happened,just received the Runtime Error.

GameObjectClass]
baseName = "ivrecy_cheap"
geometryName = "ivrecy00.xsi"
animCount = 1
animName1 = "deploy"
animFile1 = "ivrecy00.xsi"
classLabel = "ivrecy_cheap"
collisionRadius = 7.0
scrapCost = 0
scrapValue = 100
maxHealth = 6000
maxAmmo = 0
unitName = "Recycler"
aiName = "DeployBuildingFriend"
aiName2 = "DeployBuildingEnemy"
heatSignature = 2.0
imageSignature = 5.0
radarSignature = 5.0
isAssault = 1

armorClass = H

[CraftClass]
rangeScan = 400.0f
periodScan = 5.0f
velocJam = 0.0f
TeamTransferrable = false

selectUser1Msg = "ivrecy02.wav"  // building
selectUser2Msg = "ivrecy10.wav"  // can't do
selectWaitMsg = "ivrecy04.wav"  // yes sir
selectGoMsg = "ivrecy01.wav"  // in transit
selectOtherMsg = "ivrecy04.wav"  // yes sir
holdMsg = "ivrecy09.wav"
attackMsg = "ivrecy05.wav"
goMsg = "ivrecy05.wav"
goObjectMsg = "ivrecy04.wav"
user1Msg = "ivrecy02.wav"
user2Msg = "ivrecy13.wav"
followMsg = "ivrecy03.wav"
otherMsg = "ivrecy04.wav"

[trackedVehicleClass]
velocForward = 10.0
velocReverse = 10.0
accelThrust = 50.0
omegaSpin = 2.0

engineSound   = "irecy01.wav"
treadSound = "irecy01b.wav"

[trackedDeployableClass]
timeDeploy = 10.0
timeUndeploy = 10.0
soundDeploy = "irecy03.wav"

[DeployBuildingClass]
deployName = "ibrecy_cheap"

[RecyclerVehicleClass]
scrapHold = 40

[Lod1]
geometryName = "ivrecyL1.xsi" ;geometry for lod1
distance = 100

whats wrong?Is it necessary to change for example the audio files to "..._cheap" too?Oh no,wait...wouldn't work.
Need help.
And the autoreg files,how can i open them?
Last question for the moment,the PAkkexplorer opens the odf files with open.office,if i want to save them,there are several types of formats he saves them.I think i used .txt all the time.In addon they appear as ODF files,but before he saves them,he says that maybe not all formats and information can be saved.I changed .txt to .odt and the question dissapears,but if i try to place my ivrecy_cheap in the world,bz2edit just shuts down without an error message.Now i'm confused
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc
Post by: mrtwosheds on March 21, 2009, 11:46:25 AM
There was no need to change...
baseName = "ivrecy_cheap" this will cause the icon to change.
classLabel = "ivrecy_cheap" This is probably the cause of your crash, class labels are defined in the bz2 code not odf's, there is no class label called ivrecy_cheap
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc
Post by: Shephren on March 21, 2009, 12:07:54 PM
Weird.
Now my ivrecylcer_cheap.odf looks like that:

[GameObjectClass]
baseName = "ivrecy"
geometryName = "ivrecy00.xsi"
animCount = 1
animName1 = "deploy"
animFile1 = "ivrecy00.xsi"
classLabel = "Recylcer"
collisionRadius = 7.0
scrapCost = 0
scrapValue = 100
maxHealth = 6000
maxAmmo = 0
unitName = "Recycler"
aiName = "DeployBuildingFriend"
aiName2 = "DeployBuildingEnemy"
heatSignature = 2.0
imageSignature = 5.0
radarSignature = 5.0
isAssault = 1

armorClass = H

[CraftClass]
rangeScan = 400.0f
periodScan = 5.0f
velocJam = 0.0f
TeamTransferrable = false

selectUser1Msg = "ivrecy02.wav"  // building
selectUser2Msg = "ivrecy10.wav"  // can't do
selectWaitMsg = "ivrecy04.wav"  // yes sir
selectGoMsg = "ivrecy01.wav"  // in transit
selectOtherMsg = "ivrecy04.wav"  // yes sir
holdMsg = "ivrecy09.wav"
attackMsg = "ivrecy05.wav"
goMsg = "ivrecy05.wav"
goObjectMsg = "ivrecy04.wav"
user1Msg = "ivrecy02.wav"
user2Msg = "ivrecy13.wav"
followMsg = "ivrecy03.wav"
otherMsg = "ivrecy04.wav"

[trackedVehicleClass]
velocForward = 10.0
velocReverse = 10.0
accelThrust = 50.0
omegaSpin = 2.0

engineSound   = "irecy01.wav"
treadSound = "irecy01b.wav"

[trackedDeployableClass]
timeDeploy = 10.0
timeUndeploy = 10.0
soundDeploy = "irecy03.wav"

[DeployBuildingClass]
deployName = "ibrecy_cheap"

[RecyclerVehicleClass]
scrapHold = 40

[Lod1]
geometryName = "ivrecyL1.xsi" ;geometry for lod1
distance = 100

now he says,ERROR:Object "ivrecy_cheap" does not exist.
You said,addon is the right folder and it overwrite things in data with the same name if used,but because i'm making a new recycler,this isn't important.So..what shall i do?Or where is the problem?
Edit:Changed classlabel from Recylcer back to normal recylcervehicle,but still get the same error message,that this object doesn't exist.

Quotenow he says,ERROR:Object "ivrecy_cheap" does not exist.
The editor says that when you type the name wrong, or the odf does not exist.
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc
Post by: Shephren on March 21, 2009, 02:44:03 PM
i know that it exists,in my addon folder,there is "ivrecy_cheap.odf" and some others.But everytime i type in "ivrecy_cheap" in the config box in the editor,he shuts down immediately.I tested some different ways of that file,sometimes he said that it doesn't exist,then,he shuts down with that runtime error or he shuts down without any warnings.

baseName = "ivrecy"
geometryName = "ivrecy00.xsi"
animCount = 1
animName1 = "deploy"
animFile1 = "ivrecy00.xsi"

otherMsg = "ivrecy04.wav"

[trackedVehicleClass]
velocForward = 10.0
velocReverse = 10.0
accelThrust = 50.0
omegaSpin = 2.0

engineSound   = "irecy01.wav"
treadSound = "irecy01b.wav"

deployName = "ibrecy_cheap"

[RecyclerVehicleClass]
scrapHold = 40

[Lod1]
geometryName = "ivrecyL1.xsi" ;geometry for lod1
distance = 100
,but it causes the editor to shut down as he did before.Something you guys do,what i forget?

He stopped using inheritance...

Try this:
---------------
[GameObjectClass]
classLabel = "ivrecy"

[CraftClass]

[trackedVehicleClass]

[trackedDeployableClass]

[DeployBuildingClass]
deployName = "ibrecy_cheap"

[RecyclerVehicleClass]

[Lod1]
---------------

It will load all values from ivrecy.odf except what you change.

Getting crazy right now!Where's the problem?I've done everything you said,the ivrecy_cheap.odf looks like that:
[GameObjectClass]

classLabel = "ivrecy"

[CraftClass]

[trackedVehicleClass]

[trackedDeployableClass]

[DeployBuildingClass]
deployName = "ibrecy_cheap"

[RecyclerVehicleClass]

[Lod1]

saved it,but if i type "ivrecy_cheap" into the box right under "config" it shuts down like usual -.-
Is there anything special about that?Which line i have to wite in the config box when i'm in the editor?Basename gives me the normal recycler without changes,the name of the odf file "ivrecycler_cheap" crashes the editor.Is there a line where i have to type "ivrecy_cheap" in?

Of the above is ivrecy_cheap.odf and you are placing it in the editor it should be fine. Please provide the AV.

Also, are you using the LATEST 1.3, that is 1.3pb4a. Do not go and get the EXE version info, get the very last number in your change log (likely "1.3pb4a Released").

Um, are you SURE.

pb4 AND pb4a have the following files:
changelog.txt
changelog_pb3.txt
changelog_pb2.txt
changelog_pb1.txt

changelog.txt is the one you need to look at. Look at the bottom to see if it ends at pb4 or pb4a

Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc

Alright,i need to have 1.3pb4a to modify units/buildings in the way i want or is it possible to do that with my current version of bz2?
I've read some bugreports about it,i don't want to try out every kind of opening ports and firewall options again.Was like hell the first time,but i've managed it.
On the other hand,i just noticed that :
The major improvements of pb4, compared to 1.3pb3 are:
- Many more modder features, such as 60-char ODF names, inheritance, tons of new tuning values, etc
- Performance optimizations
- Easier to host games w/ automatic UPNP, Windows Firewall support(*)
So,you suggest i should get pb4a to modify things the way i want them to be,right?
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc

Getting annoyed right now.Downloadet pb4a installed it,renamed classlabel with ivrecy_cheap,tried it and the editor shuts down like before the patch.Network games are no problem,tested it right now.But the editor...,getting crazy.
Should i re-do all the odf files or load the data.pak again and create all the odf's again because i got a new bz2 version?
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc

Quote,renamed classlabel with ivrecy_cheap
That will break it. You do not want to change the classlabel.
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc
Post by: Shephren on March 22, 2009, 04:53:49 PM
Even with classLabel = "recyclervehicle" it crashes.Where the hell is the problem?
What exacly i have to type in the box right below config in the editor?The name of the odf file,right?All other names open the console and it says Error,"xyz" does not exist.What about the basename?For example the recycler as a vehicle.In the modyfied odf,the basename is "ivrecy",is it necessary to type in a different name?Sry,complete noob concerning that stuff.

EDIT:@Warfreak.Sry,wha does AV means?Something like a crashreport or bugreport?

Broken assets! File 'ivscout_cheap.odf' has classLabel pointing back to itself. FIX IT.

There is your problem. Look at the last four lines of BATTLEZONE.log (which opens in notepad, as do most BZ2 files). In this case, you didn't just change the classlabel of your recycler, you changed all the vehicles it builds too. either change them back to how they were or recreate the ODFs from scratch, without changing the classlabel.
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc
Post by: Shephren on March 22, 2009, 08:59:17 PM
Finally something i understand (not completely but i understand it).
So,that means i delete all my modded odf's and create new ones,but i don't change their classLabel,just the scrapcosts(that's what i want),only thing i change except scrapcost is the odf name itself.like ivrecy_cheap,the odf's i save in the "addon" folder.
Then everything should be alright and work fine,or?
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc
Post by: Nielk1 on March 22, 2009, 09:22:53 PM
The PROBLEM IS, your class label is set to ivrecy_cheap, SET IT TO ivrecy!
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc
Post by: AHadley on March 23, 2009, 08:26:24 AM
Make absolutely certain that the classlabel on EVERY odf is set to that of the original.
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc
Post by: Shephren on March 23, 2009, 01:23:40 PM
Thats weird.You say i shouldn't modify the classLabel.I let them as they were,just changed the scrapcosts of a unit or building,named the file he saves in the addon folder for example "ivrecy_cheap.odf".Other things,for instance things that need other buildings or create units,i've done like that:
[GameObjectClass]
geometryName = "ibfact00.xsi"
classLabel = "factory"
scrapCost = 0
scrapValue = 10
maxHealth = 6000
maxAmmo = 0
unitName = "Factory"
aiName = "BuildingProcess"
aiName2 = "BuildingProcess"
heatSignature = 2.0
imageSignature = 1.0
radarSignature = 1.0
isAssault = 1

armorClass = H

requireCount = 1
requireName1 = "ibpgen_cheap"
requireText1 = "Build Power"

provideCount = 1
provideName1 = "ibfact"

collisionRadius = 4.0

lightHard1 = "hp_light_1"
lightName1 = "o_white_nf"

[PoweredBuildingClass]
detectRange = 100

[BuildingClass]
tunnelCount = 1

tunnel01X0 = 3
tunnel01Z0 = 3
tunnel01DX = 2
tunnel01DZ = 4
tunnel01Edge = "wwtw"

soundAmbient = "ibfact00.wav"

// play ambient sound

[FactoryClass]
soundBuild = "ibrecy02.wav"
soundFinish = "iapc04.wav"
reloadMsg = "ivrecy12.wav"
rescueMsg = "ivrecy13.wav"

buildItem1 = "ivmbike_cheap"
buildItem2 = "ivmisl_cheap"
buildItem3 = "ivtank_cheap"
buildItem4 = "ivrckt_cheap"
buildItem5 = "ivatank_cheap"
buildItem6 = "ivwalk_cheap"
buildItem7 = "ivapc_cheap"
buildItem8 = "ivbomb_cheap"

[Lod1]
geometryName = "ibfactL1.xsi" ;geometry for lod1
distance = 80
dontShiftLOD = 1

Everytime i type in the editor,doesn't matter if "ivrecy_cheap" or "ibfact_cheap",he shuts down again without any comments.

Another thing i don't understand,is that you AHadley say,i should NOT change anything concerning the classlabel when i create a new odf.On the other hand,Nielk1 says,my classlabel should be (concerning a recycler) "ivrecy",but the normal classlabel of a recycler is "recyclervehicle".
What i want is a rec-variant like the ones i've got at the moment.Commando Variant A etc.Don't know if theres a difference between making a new rec-variant and just the changing of some values.
Sorry if i'm too dumb for that :-),but thanks to you all for helping me,even if this seems very difficult.
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc
Post by: Zero Angel on March 23, 2009, 02:38:32 PM
Well the first step is to isolate the problem. For example, try to have ivrecy_cheap deploy into an ibfact (because we know for a fact that ibfact isnt broken). If it doesnt AV then ivrecy_cheap isnt the problem, ibrecy_cheap (what it is supposed to deploy into) is. Check that ODF to make sure its all good.
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc
Post by: Nielk1 on March 23, 2009, 03:55:27 PM
See, here, I would use:

[GameObjectClass]
classLabel = "ibfact" // inherit all default values from ibfact.odf
scrapCost = 0
scrapValue = 10
maxHealth = 6000

//requireCount = 1 // no need for this if inheriting it
//requireName1 = "ibpgen_cheap" // do note that ibpgen_cheap.odf SHOULD provide ibpgen, and as such, you do not need to edit, or if inheriting even include this line.
//requireText1 = "Build Power"

//provideCount = 1 // Interesting tidbit, if you inherit this as 1, you can change it to 2 and only provide a 2nd provide below, loading in the first from the inherited ODF.
//provideName1 = "ibfact" // inherited

[PoweredBuildingClass]

[BuildingClass]

[FactoryClass]
buildItem1 = "ivmbike_cheap"
buildItem2 = "ivmisl_cheap"
buildItem3 = "ivtank_cheap"
buildItem4 = "ivrckt_cheap"
buildItem5 = "ivatank_cheap"
buildItem6 = "ivwalk_cheap"
buildItem7 = "ivapc_cheap"
buildItem8 = "ivbomb_cheap"

[Lod1]

As I have said SEVERAL times, this is called INHERITANCE. You can INHERIT from an existing ODF. Basically, what occurs with class label is you type in the archetype. The thing your object is and thus get all its defaults. 1.3pb3 and up allow you to specify an existing ODF as your archetype, thus loading all its defaults and giving you a ton less work. THAT IS WHY I am telling you to put "ivrecy" in that slot.

You really need to try this more 1 thing at a time. So start with the rec I posted WAAAAYYYY back, and set it to deploy to "ibrecy" and see if it works. If it does, than set it to deploy as "ibrecy_cheap" and then create that ODF but have it keep stock values and test again.

1.3 should allow you to have many many missing files, and still 'run', unlike 1.2, but when you start looping the classlabels back on themselves, you have really screwed up.

EDIT:
For example, here are two ODFs from one of my MRVP recs.

ivrecyfatboy.odf
[GameObjectClass]
classLabel = "ivrecy"

[CraftClass]

[TrackedVehicleClass]

[TrackedDeployableClass]

[DeployBuildingClass]
deployName = "ibrecyfatboy"

[RecyclerVehicleClass]

[Lod1]

ibrecyfatboy.odf
[GameObjectClass]
classLabel = "ibrecy"

[PoweredBuildingClass]

[BuildingClass]

[FactoryClass]
buildItem1 = "ivsilofatboy"
buildItem8 = "ivscout_m"
buildEmptyItem = 8
buildItem9 = "ivservfatboy"

[RecyclerClass]

that's all i have to say.Why?I can't understand that.I suppose i've done everything as you said,my ivrecy_cheap.odf looks like that:

@Zero Angel:Tried out what you've suggested,but my "ivrecyfact.odf" didn't work.Looks like:

[CraftClass]
[trackedVehicleClass]
[trackedDeployableClass]
[DeployBuildingClass]
deployName = "ibfact"
[RecyclerVehicleClass]
[Lod1]

Now i'm despaired.

I'll explain it once more.
YES THERE IS MR.TWOSEDS
IT WILL WORK
IT IS CALLED INHERITANCE
IT IS A PB4+ FEATURE

Again, here is one of my MANY MANY MANY recs:
[GameObjectClass]
classLabel = "ivrecy"

[CraftClass]

[trackedVehicleClass]

[trackedDeployableClass]

[DeployBuildingClass]
deployName = "ibrecyfatboy"

[RecyclerVehicleClass]

^^Post to which this was replying was removed^^

Shephren, did you at any time modify the data.pak? As in do ANYTHING to it other than extract or open files inside of it? If it isn't working, I suspect you somehow went and broke something else, like perhaps ivrecy.odf from the pak itself.

Also, what does the BATTLEZONE.LOG file say?

Your right.

Silly me.

Get someone who is just starting to mod to use inheritance, it wont confuse him at all.
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc
Post by: Nielk1 on March 23, 2009, 10:17:14 PM
lol!

Something like what he wants to do is practically why inheritance exists. Otherwise I would not start with that.

Yeah,i think i changed something IN the data.pak.Opened with the Pak.Explorer i created a new folder,deleted it.Created another one and put in a file i had modyfied some minutes before i created the new folder.Deleted both after 20 min because you said,"put nothing in the data,save it in another folder" and finaly put it in addon.So i save them in addon all the time.

Do you have any way of getting the original data.pak back?
Do you still have the bz2 cd?
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc

I suppose i could take the bz 2 folder of one of my friends,these ones are not modded,or do you mean a data,which is like after you installed the game for the first time?
Both types of data i could get,why?Do you think,or do you know,that my data is in a way broken?
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc

Either way should be fine if the file is unmodified.  You said that you didn't know if you changed something, so, while it probably isn't the source of the problem, it would be the easiest thing to fix.

I'm going totally nuts!What a damn piece of...,grrrr.This editor hates me,he HATES me^^
Listen,i've deletet everything related to bz2,even the thing in my documents/my games/battlezone 2.Installed it new,patched it to 1.3pb4a.Opened the Pak.Explorer,loaded the data from the fresh bz2,opened objects,ISDF,Vehicles,ivrecy.opened ivrecy.odf,changed everything to..well,take a look if you want:

[GameObjectClass]
classLabel = "ivrecy"

[CraftClass]

[trackedVehicleClass]

[trackedDeployableClass]

[DeployBuildingClass]
deployName = "ibfact"

[RecyclerVehicleClass]

[Lod1]

named it "ivrecydavid.odf",saved it in the addon folder,started the editor,createt my profile because of the new install of bz2,startet a instant match,opened editor,typed in "ivrecydavid" and guess what he did.Right,he shutted down without any warnings or comments like usual.Bwahrg!

Got a question right now.My odf files i see in the pak.explorer open with openoffice.org 2.4,if i save them,a window pops up,where i can chose which format it shall be saved.For instance :".txt" or ".odt",do you guys use another programm to open existing odf files/Do you can save them as ".odf" files,or do you have to write it after the name of the file like i do?
Example:

(http://www.pictureupload.de/originals/pictures/240309172434_Screenshot.JPG)

Damn,this is going to get on my nerves^^
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc
Post by: AHadley on March 24, 2009, 05:51:39 PM
I think I've found the problem. File format/editor confusion. Write your ODFs in Windows' Notepad, and save them in it too. If you look closely, whilst that is saving as an ODF Text document, which is an Open Office format, it is saving with the file extension .ODT. You want this extension to be .ODF. Saving like you are above gives you a double extension - filename.odf.ODT - where the last one is being used as the extension.

Save in Notepad - but make sure you select to save as All Files first, or it will double extend again - this time as .ODF.TXT.

You should be able to find examples in patch13.pak, just open it with a simple text editor like notepad.

Just use an existing autoreg as a template for your new one. Glad we FINALLY worked this out. Funny issue... Office... HA!

Alright,use an existing one as a template for my new one...,are autoreg files,files i createt like the odf's via notepad?Not office... :evil:
just put a ".autoreg" at the end of a name,or is there ynthing special about them?I mean,if i open patch13.pak with the pak.explorer (notepad doesn't work ont this),there are a lot of files.Most of them odf's.How much autoregs i have to create?One,or more for all of my moded odf's?

One autoreg for each recycler variant you have made - and they would be called ivrecy_cheap and fvrecy_cheap, if you made a scion one.

One question... I used the autoregs from SRV and MRVP as my base, but I can't get them to show in the player RV list, only the IA RV list. Any suggestions?

I ran into that when the written names were to long.

Autoreg files are in addon, look there.

APPARENTLY, a sub folder in autoregs works. So I have the private beta of MRVP put its autoregs in addon/autoregs/mrvp and SRV places them in addon/autoregs/srv .

By names, do you mean file names or description names?

Hey guys,my rec works fine,tested everything in the editor.Just the autoreg file is a bit complicated.
My ivrecy_cheap.autoreg looks like that:(I used the ivrecy_m30 as template)

[RecyclerList]
ODFName = "ivrecy_cheap"
Description = "Jor'els"

[RecyclerListFFA]
ODFName = "ivrecy_cheap"
Description = "Jor'els"

[RecyclerListMPI]
ODFName = "ivrecy_cheap"
Description = "Jor'els"

[IAHumanRecyclerList]
ODFName = "ivrecy_cheap"
Description = "Jor'els"

,but i get an error mesage,look:

Your recycler should appear in ffa strategy maps and mpi also.  Did you add an entry for [RecyclerListST]?

Ummm, because you forgot to make a Scion equal to the rec? Note the F. Just make the Scion ODFs and its ready.

Gonna cry-.-
Why...all this work again for our alien friends,damnit^^
Or would it work if i change nothing on the scion variant and just put a "fvrecy" somewhere in the autoreg?Another question:Do i have to put "fvrecy" in the same autoreg where ivrecy_cheap is located in,or do i have to create two autoregs`?One for ISDF,the other for the Scions?
@Spawn:
I thought i've grabed a autoreg,which covered all kinds of multiplayergames.How would it look,if i add them to my current autoreg?
Just add the line "[RecyclerListST]" for all the Strategie maps you can use in MP?

Yep. :-D

um... nope.
you need  isdf recys and Scion recys.
The autoreg is clever, you only need one that contains the ivrecy, it assumes there is an fvrecy, and gives you that error if its not there.

I was saying yes to the bit about the RecyclerListST, was that wrong?

Yeah, I was wrong.  Take everything I say with a grain of salt, that's what I do :P

He does not need to add an fvrecy to the autoreg.
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc
Post by: TheJamsh on March 26, 2009, 07:28:14 PM
and he also doesnt need RecyclerListST. im pretty sure it will be there already.

put simply mate, make an fvrecy_cheap.odf

you DONT have to make the scion RV, just copy the fvrecy.odf and call it fvrecy_cheap. then the scions will have a stock recycler when yours is selected. simple.

Got it.Everything works!
Just created the same odf's for all the scion things,so my friends can chose ISDF or Scion^^
Thanks to everyone.blame on office! xD

You could use office and save the file as .txt and just rename it, but I figured telling you that earlier would just confuse you.  Now that it works, confusing you doesn't matter :D

If you have any way to post your files (in a zip or some such) I can look over them for you to ensure everything is good and as minimalist as possible.

Well..trust me,you don't want to look at them^^
Tested everything out already,friend of me is able to join without problems,all modded files work.
At the beginning there was a little problem concerning the weapons of the isdf,i didnÄt change the names of the weapons my modded armory produces..i was so confused first,but in the end i've got it  :mrgreen:

Here i am again.
Noticed a little problem concenring isdf armory and scion stronghold.I can't change the weapons,shields etc of a unit in the factory/kiln/forge.There is nothing except ion gun/mini gun.No cannons,rockets...,the armory/stronghold itself works,it is able to produce every kind of weapon i gave it.
Title: Re: Search something to modify Units/scrapcost etc
Post by: Spawn on March 28, 2009, 02:10:57 PM
The weapon lists in the recycler and factory and not drawn from the armoury files, but from a separate file.  If you modify that you will get bad assets, but in 1.3 there should be a way to specify a custom weapon file.  Did you read the modlog?

[FactoryClass]
WeaponConfig = "iweapon_cheap.odf"

Based on iweapon.odf of course.
Do the same for Scions.
Do this for both Recycler and Factory.

What's iweapon.odf?I have to create it,right?
How does it looks like?Or is "weapon" just something like a placeholder for the name of one of the isdf/scion weapons?

Found it,but it doesn't work.
My iweapon_cheap.odf looks like that:

[Guns]
weaponCount = 4
weaponName1 = "apmini_cheap"
weaponName2 = "aplase_cheap"
weaponName3 = "appumm_cheap"
weaponName4 = "apchain_cheap"

[Cannons]
weaponCount = 7
weaponName1 = "apstab_cheap"
weaponName2 = "appstb_cheap"
weaponName3 = "apsstb_cheap"
weaponName4 = "applas_cheap"
weaponName5 = "apblst_cheap"
weaponName6 = "apmagg_cheap"
weaponName7 = "aptech_cheap"

[Rockets]
weaponCount = 3
weaponName1 = "aptagg_cheap"
weaponName2 = "apfafm_cheap"
weaponName3 = "apshdw_cheap"

[Mortars]
weaponCount = 3
weaponName1 = "apmort_cheap"
weaponName2 = "apmdmg_cheap"
weaponName3 = "apspln_cheap"

[Mines]
weaponCount = 5
weaponName1 = "apflar_cheap"
weaponName2 = "apmcur_cheap"
weaponName3 = "apmits_cheap"
weaponName4 = "approx_cheap"
weaponName5 = "apfntn_cheap"

[Specials]
weaponCount = 4
weaponName1 = "apredf_cheap"
weaponName2 = "apphan_cheap"
weaponName3 = "apsite_cheap"
weaponName4 = "apblnk_cheap"

Added the "s" to test if it works with that..didn't change anything.

ibfact_cheap.odf looks like:

[GameObjectClass]
classLabel = "ibfact"
scrapCost = 0
unitName = "Fabrik"
requireCount = 1
requireName1 = "ibpgen_cheap"
requireText1 = "Build Power"
provideCount = 1
provideName1 = "ibfact_cheap"

[PoweredBuildingClass]
detectRange = 100

[BuildingClass]

[FactoryClass]
buildItem1 = "ivmbike_cheap"
buildItem2 = "ivmisl_cheap"
buildItem3 = "ivtank_cheap"
buildItem4 = "ivrckt_cheap"
buildItem5 = "ivatank_cheap"
buildItem6 = "ivwalk_cheap"
buildItem7 = "ivapc_cheap"
buildItem8 = "ivbomb_cheap"
buildItem9 = "ivintc_cheap"
WeaponConfig = "iweapon_cheap"

[Lod1]

Is this similar to the rec variant,i mean,do i have to add the WeaponConfig = "i/fweapon_cheap" to isdf and scions to force it to work?

Remember those files have to exist. They reference the ISDF weapon crates, also found in patch13.pak

you add the "$weapon_cheap.odf" to all of YOURE factories, not the stock ones. never touch de stock

I haven't found ISDF weapon crates in the patch13.pak.If i got them,what shall i do with em?
I never touch the stock in anyway since i had to reinstall BZ2 because of that^^

Added the .odf to both,ibfact_cheap and ibrecy_cheap...doesn't work.What was that about the ISDF weapon crates?Someone knows a bit more about that?
