There is no such thing as a benevolent dictator, "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely", words to live by.
So we only get one chance can we take it
And we only get one life can't exchange it

Clavin, God is not a dictator, he is merely the creator from which all is born and returns to. You can believe in any spiritual deity you want, but i do not see the streets of Rome being flooded with parades with God speaking in German and saying to wipe out the other religions. God is not the dictator, he is the overseer.

Dictator is defined as one with absolute power. Let me do a little editing "Power corrupts humans, and absolute power corrupts humans absolutely". Just because he is a dictator does not equate him with Hitler or any other human dictator. It does not mean he is corrupted. He isn't and he does rule those who will follow him. He gives us the choice.

In a proper democract, every decision that needed to be made would have to be done via referendum.

Technically he is right now but isn't using that power. Non- technically, he will be a benevolent dictator at the end of the world.
